Go Go Squid! Episode 28 Recap
> Go Go Squid! Recap
Some people's happiness is like two pieces of iron, needing a magnet in the middle to stick tightly together. For example, Han Shangyan and Tong Nian, their magnet is the grandfather. One day, on the first floor, when Han Shangyan peeled an apple for the grandfather, only when Tong Nian offered it to the grandfather would he eat it.
And the grandfather was very fond of this granddaughter-in-law, and Tong Nian was also very compatible with the grandfather, so they both agreed with Han Shangyan that they would visit the grandfather together in Norway when they had time. On the second floor, because Su Cheng had resigned and he had to personally supervise the competition, Han Shangyan explained Tong Nian's questions while packing his own suitcase.
He explained that the aunt beside him was actually ONE's mother, hired as an aunt simply to give ONE an extra salary to supplement their household expenses. While Han Shangyan was packing, Tong Nian accidentally saw men's underwear and was extremely shy. Afterwards, Han Shangyan saw Tong Nian off. Tong Nian accidentally learned that Han Shangyan had named the little cat Xiao Youyu.
While discussing changing the cat's name, they referred to each other by combining their surnames, Han Nian, Tong Shangyan! This intimate form of address immersed the two who were experiencing love for the first time in a honey pot, unable to extricate themselves. The next day, encouraged by Sun Yaya, Tong Nian rushed home from her university dormitory, preparing to put more effort into her love with Han Shangyan.
She planned for people from the Han family and Tong Nian's family to accompany the grandfather to Suzhou to see his old home, to relieve the grandfather's homesickness from the distant return date to Norway, and also to ease the relationship between Tong Nian's mother and Han Shangyan. This idea was approved by Tong Nian's mother.
Zheng Hui, who had been living at Tong Nian's house and coveting Tong Nian, had won Tong Nian's mother's heart by being good at picking beans, so he could only focus on the lab for now. On the way to Suzhou, the Han family and the Tong family each drove a car, with the Tong family's car leading the way.
Although Tong Nian's mother still held a grudge against Han Shangyan, she couldn't speak her mind due to her daughter's infatuation. Instead, when the Han family asked someone from the Tong family to ride over, she sent Hu Dounan, not Tong Nian whom the grandfather had hoped for.
During a stop for rest, Han Shangyan peeled an old ice pop for Tong Nian, and just as he was about to feed it into Tong Nian's pouting lips, Hu Dounan nimbly bit it away. The disruptive work arranged by Tong Nian's mother was executed perfectly. However, it was precisely because of these obstacles that Han Shangyan had a stronger motivation for Tong Nian.
A small gesture between the couple made others envious, which was Han Shangyan shielding Tong Nian from the sun with his hand, warming her just right. Arriving at the shared ancestral home of the Han and Tong families, the Han family's grandfather and a white-haired but energetic old grandmother sat down and chatted idly.
A room full of elders of Han Shangyan and Tong Nian, Tong Nian's cousin, and Hu Dounan began to match the juniors to the older generation one by one. And when asked about Han Shangyan, the great-grandmother couldn't help but be curious about his age and worried for the Han family's grandfather, saying he was almost thirty and hadn't married or had children.
After responding politely, Han Shangyan felt a bit uncomfortable and found an excuse to step out for some air. Tong Nian and Hu Dounan followed him closely. To be alone with Tong Nian, Han Shangyan cleverly shook off Hu Dounan. The two went to a shaded area and played chess with a local elderly person. Having played chess for over forty years, the old man, unwilling to admit defeat, ended up losing many bottles of juice drinks to Han Shangyan.
Tong Nian captured a photo of Han Shangyan drinking water and later asked Han Shangyan to find the highlight. Only then did Han Shangyan see the words "Current Boyfriend" on the drink bottle, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up slightly.
Consequently, to please Tong Nian, Han Shangyan managed to sweet-talk a small guitar from a busking boy on the bridge for twenty yuan, and while riding a small boat with Tong Nian around the water town, he sang heartfelt ballads to Tong Nian. Unconsciously, a wonderful afternoon passed. To avoid causing Tong Nian's mother's displeasure, Han Shangyan used returning the guitar as an excuse to let Tong Nian go back first to have dinner with the elders.
Shangyan himself strolled around his grandfather's hometown, buying a gift for Tong Nian. By the time the elders' meal wasn't over yet, Han Shangyan rushed back and, just like Tong Nian was lectured by Tong Nian's mother, he was lectured by the Han family's grandfather before taking his seat to eat. This made Tong Nian and Han Shangyan feel both like eloping and having a secret affair, which was extremely exciting.
After visiting the old home, the Han family's grandfather returned to Han Shangyan's house. That evening, after a good chat with his grandson, the grandfather began to reflect on the many things he didn't understand about his grandson back then, feeling guilty. The next day, on the verge of returning to Norway, the grandfather was reluctant to part with his two young juniors, Han Shangyan and Wu Bai, and insisted on having another cup of tea.
The tea had to be the tea given by Tong Nian, brewed by Han Shangyan himself. Han Shangyan, as his biological grandson, was determined to satisfy this stubborn old man to the end. Having finished his tea, the grandfather, due to old age and frequent urination, was carefully helped by Han Shangyan to the restroom upon arriving at the airport.
While waiting outside, Han Shangyan saw a caring text message from Tong Nian, so he invited Tong Nian to visit the grandfather together in Norway that summer. Afterward, the Han family's grandfather's old problem of angina recurred, and he sat on the toilet, enduring the pain. Soon after, sensing something was wrong, Han Shangyan broke open the door.
The grandfather had just recovered on his own, and the two, grandfather and grandson, engaged in loving accusations for their common habit of always reporting good news and never bad. The accusations back and forth were nothing more than Han Shangyan's focus on his career and the Han family's grandfather's focus on his health. Precisely because they were family, they accused but also tolerated and supported each other.
