Jin Yuxiang, Li Jianjian, and the others had almost finished chatting and went to order food. After Jin Yuxiang left, Li Jianjian was a little surprised that Qi Mingyue wanted to become a lawyer. Qi Mingyue was a bit helpless and said it wasn’t her idea but rather what Jin Yuxiang wanted for her. Li Jianjian felt fortunate that Li Haichao was always tolerant of them and not controlling like Jin Yuxiang.
Jin Yuxiang had also noticed Qi Mingyue’s feelings for He Ziqiu and repeatedly reminded her to focus on her studies instead of wasting energy elsewhere. The next day during break, He Ziqiu was about to play basketball when a classmate handed him a box, saying it was from his dad. He Ziqiu was puzzled. It turned out Zhao Huaguang had come to the school to deliver gifts to He Ziqiu and even brought snacks for his classmates.
Only then did He Ziqiu’s classmates realize that Li Haichao wasn’t his biological father. He Ziqiu was furious. He took the items and chased after Zhao Huaguang, throwing them all back at him and emotionally demanding that he never come looking for him again. When Zhuang Bei heard about it, he worried Zhao Huaguang might go find Li Haichao, so he advised He Ziqiu to inform Li Haichao about Zhao Huaguang in advance so he could be prepared.
Meanwhile, Ling Xiao accompanied Li Jianjian to the dentist. Li Jianjian was terrified of dental work, and Ling Xiao stayed by her side, constantly reassuring her. As she lay on the dental chair, Ling Xiao held her hand tightly. After her tooth was pulled, Li Jianjian was still a bit scared and said she wished Ling Xiao would become a dentist in the future. Qi Mingyue ran into He Ziqiu at school when he was looking for Zhao Huaguang.
That weekend, while delivering textbooks to Li Jianjian’s house, Qi Mingyue asked Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao about He Ziqiu. But neither of them knew anything, so Qi Mingyue told them what she had seen. Just as Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian were reacting with surprise, He Ziqiu came home. They quickly asked him what was going on. When He Ziqiu realized Qi Mingyue had revealed his secret, he blamed her for meddling.
Qi Mingyue was scolded and felt wronged, so she took her things and left. Li Jianjian wanted to go after her and persuade her to stay, but Ling Xiao told her to rest and went to comfort Qi Mingyue instead. Ling Xiao said she hadn’t done anything wrong and shouldn’t feel guilty just because He Ziqiu was angry. In fact, Ling Xiao thought Qi Mingyue was truly outstanding and advised her not to deny herself in such situations.
His words gave Qi Mingyue a sense of clarity. After returning home, Ling Xiao asked He Ziqiu about the situation. Seeing that He Ziqiu was determined not to tell Li Haichao about Zhao Huaguang, Ling Xiao didn’t press him and let him make his own decision. But the next day, Zhao Huaguang went straight to Li Haichao. When Ling Heping found out, he rushed home early to meet Zhao Huaguang with Li Haichao.
Zhao Huaguang introduced his current situation, highlighting his strong financial status. He mentioned that since Li Haichao and He Mei weren’t married, he and He Ziqiu had no legal relationship. Li Haichao understood Zhao Huaguang’s real intent—he wanted to reclaim He Ziqiu. Zhao Huaguang even offered one million yuan as compensation to Li Haichao. Furious, Li Haichao and Ling Heping kicked him out.
As Zhao Huaguang was leaving, he ran into He Ziqiu, Ling Xiao, and Li Jianjian returning from school. When He Ziqiu saw that Zhao Huaguang was still harassing Li Haichao, he threw his schoolbag at him. Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian quickly pulled him back to avoid further confrontation. Back home, Li Haichao asked He Ziqiu why he hadn’t told him about Zhao Huaguang. He Ziqiu quickly apologized.
What Li Haichao really worried about was whether this would affect He Ziqiu’s studies. Though they were growing up, they weren’t yet adults and couldn’t handle such problems alone. Ling Heping also said that if Zhao Huaguang bothered them again, they should call the police. After dinner, Li Haichao went to He Ziqiu’s room to comfort him.
He had always known what He Ziqiu felt deep down—he constantly felt indebted to the Li family and tried to make it up in every way possible, always yielding to Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao. Li Haichao, feeling sorry for him, reassured him that no matter what happens, he would always be there.
