Zhuang Bei proposed that Tang Can try stage acting and contacted a theater director friend. After watching a performance with Tang Can, they met the director in the rehearsal hall. Tang Can watched the actors rehearsing on stage with envy and longing. The director explained that the actress originally cast as the leading actress, Xiao Fei, was injured and could no longer perform, halting their rehearsals as they sought a replacement.
While the troupe had understudies, the director found them less than ideal. Upon meeting Tang Can, the director felt her image was highly suitable for the leading actress role, a sentiment Zhuang Bei enthusiastically supported. Though initially hesitant, the director handed Tang Can the script and invited her to audition the next day, stating that while her image was a good fit, her acting skills needed to be assessed.
Tang Can was surprised by the sudden opportunity and harbored many doubts; she had planned to give up acting, lacked stage experience, and feared she wouldn't perform well. The director reassured her, asking her only to read the script and provide an answer by noon the following day. Zhuang Bei encouraged Tang Can, who was staring at the script, assuring her of his belief in her abilities. Unwilling to abandon her acting dream, Tang Can decided to seize the opportunity.
The next morning, she shared the news with Li Jianjian, who also offered her full support. Bolstered by this encouragement, Tang Can immediately called the museum to request leave, preparing for her noon audition. Zhuang Bei accompanied Tang Can to the audition. Tang Can met the director on set and began her tryout, while Zhuang Bei waited nervously in the hallway. When Tang Can emerged, she appeared distraught, her expression off.
Zhuang Bei's heart sank, and he quickly approached her, asking about the results. Tang Can remained silent and dazed for a long time, tears welling in her eyes, eventually squatting on the ground when pressed. Zhuang Bei comforted her, reminding her that even if she had failed, it was acceptable, and she should maintain confidence. Tang Can then suddenly announced her success; she had been overwhelmed because, after numerous previous failures, this sudden achievement felt like a dream.
Overcome with emotion and excitement, she impulsively embraced Zhuang Bei, who was initially startled but then accepted her hug. The director was very satisfied with Tang Can's performance, and she successfully secured the role. After Tang Can's call, Li Jianjian went to summon Qin Meiyang for breakfast.
Qin Meiyang mysteriously invited Li Jianjian into her tidied room, where she presented Li Jianjian with a small speaker as a token of gratitude for her hospitality and for allowing her to use her bed. Qin Meiyang announced her plan to move back in with Chen Ting that very day. Li Jianjian was surprised by Qin Meiyang's improved demeanor and offered some advice. Qin Meiyang then apologized for their childhood conflicts.
As He Ziqiu had predicted, Li Jianjian had long forgotten those past events and found Qin Meiyang's continued mention of them amusing, assuring her she held no grudges. Qin Meiyang, Li Jianjian, and Tang Can later shared a meal. During their conversation, Qin Meiyang playfully revealed that Tang Can had often hidden the remote control while she was staying with them, adding that she no longer needed to, as she was moving out.
Tang Can, embarrassed, vehemently denied ever hiding it, prompting laughter from both Qin Meiyang and Li Jianjian, who teased Tang Can for her denial despite being found out. Li Jianjian, after a phone call with Du Juan, felt mentally and physically exhausted and rested her head on her desk. Ling Xiao, understanding her situation, spoke softly to her and suggested they go out for ice cream. Li Jianjian, a big fan of ice cream, immediately perked up, her fatigue dissolving.
Upon arriving at the studio, Du Juan and Zhou Miao were already there. Du Juan inquired about Li Jianjian's situation, but Li Jianjian remained calm. Zhou Miao, visibly angry, informed Li Jianjian that the collaborating company was questioning her about potential plagiarism and urged her to find photos to prove her innocence immediately. He warned that if the plagiarism allegations were confirmed, they would face substantial liquidated damages. Du Juan, however, told Zhou Miao to stop interfering.
As Li Jianjian could not prove her innocence without the photos, He Ziqiu urgently sought Zhao Huaguang for them. Zhao Huaguang, currently traveling to various temples to pray, grew furious when He Ziqiu only spoke of the photos. He accused He Ziqiu of being unfilial, prioritizing photos over "Grandpa's illness," and abruptly hung up the phone. Qi Mingyue arranged a meeting for her parents.
Jin Yuxiang, Qi Mingyue's mother, asked her father if his insistence on divorce was due to infidelity. Qi father explained that he could no longer tolerate Jin Yuxiang's long-term oppression and her bossy, unreasonable nature. He revealed years of suppressed frustration, stating that while he could accommodate her on most matters, he firmly disagreed with her persistence in buying a house, and this incident proved her unwillingness to reflect.
Jin Yuxiang, however, could not understand his grievances, believing her actions were always for his good, and she refused to compromise on buying the house. Exhausted, Qi father proposed divorce, and Jin Yuxiang, angered by his use of divorce as leverage, agreed. With their conversation leading nowhere, Jin Yuxiang prepared to leave. Qi Mingyue stopped her, asking her parents to stay and listen to her.
While acknowledging their decision to divorce, she spoke candidly: she highlighted Jin Yuxiang's immense hard work and sacrifices over the years, but also pointed out her father's long-standing neglect of the family (barely entering the kitchen) and his tendency to avoid problems out of fear, which contributed to Jin Yuxiang becoming increasingly autocratic. Qi Mingyue comforted Jin Yuxiang, assuring her that even after the divorce, she would live a good life, and Qi Mingyue would be there to support her. Jin Yuxiang, seeing her husband's unyielding resolve, agreed to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau the following day to finalize the divorce.
