One morning, He Ziqiu awoke to find a drawing on the floor, secretly slipped under his door by Li Jianjian the previous night. The drawing depicted their family eating together at a table. Li Haichao had already prepared breakfast, instructing He Ziqiu to call Ling Xiao to eat. At the breakfast table, Li Haichao took the opportunity to share his heartfelt thoughts with the three young people.

He began by reflecting on his own shortcomings, admitting that he hadn't been a good enough father beyond cooking for them and had only hoped that difficulties would pass with time. He expressed that adults are sometimes the ones who make mistakes and often lack the courage to admit them.

Li Haichao also noted that Li Jianjian often acted first and reported later, concealing many things, and that Ling Xiao's situation wasn't much better than He Ziqiu's, as he too had experienced many grievances. He then told He Ziqiu that while he wasn't obligated to forgive He Mei, there were certain things he needed to know about her past.

Li Haichao recounted the truth about He Mei’s earlier experiences, which He Mei had shared with him the previous night and recently. While working at a counter in Shenzhen, He Mei developed feelings with her supervisor, who had deceived her as he was already married. The supervisor's wife publicly confronted and insulted He Mei, accusing her of being a mistress at the department store, with onlookers watching the spectacle. A colleague even tried to help He Mei manage the situation.

Though the supervisor pulled his wife aside, he still pursued He Mei. He Mei, seeing his infidelity, slapped him in anger. In retaliation, the supervisor fired her and docked her pay. Adding to her misfortune, He Mei's landlord, having heard the rumors of her being a mistress, evicted her from her rental home, refusing to rent to an "indecent woman."

With her reputation ruined locally, He Mei was unable to stay and was forced to leave Shenzhen for work, leading her to cruelly abandon her young son, He Ziqiu. He Ziqiu fell silent for a long time after hearing these revelations. Ling Xiao, concerned, suggested Li Jianjian delay going to her studio to stay and talk with He Ziqiu, but He Ziqiu was unresponsive to Li Jianjian's attempts at persuasion.

Upon returning home, He Mei developed a fever and suffered a nightmare, dreaming she lost a young He Ziqiu in a park. She woke up calling his name. Luo Hong, checking on He Mei after receiving a WeChat message from Li Haichao, discovered He Mei's illness. Luo Hong mused that both Li Haichao and He Mei were single, and Li Haichao was such a good person, suggesting He Mei reconsider him.

However, He Mei felt she had wronged Li Haichao terribly in the past and didn't have the courage to approach him, believing his kindness was simply inherent. She also hadn't fully disclosed her situation concerning her son, Dongdong, to Li Haichao, as he still believed she had remarried and had Dongdong. She felt she was an unimportant person and didn't want her personal matters to affect Li Haichao.

When Ling Heping returned from a business trip, he visited the noodle shop. Li Haichao informed him of two significant matters: one concerning Ling Xiao and the other He Ziqiu. Li Haichao first revealed that Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian were dating. Earlier, Li Jianjian had gone to the dental clinic to pick up Ling Xiao from work, and Feng Xixi had expressed envy at their affectionate hand-holding.

Ling Heping was overjoyed, having long hoped for Li Jianjian to become his daughter-in-law. He fully supported their relationship, citing that Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao had grown up together, making them a perfect match and keeping "the fertilizer in one's own field." Li Haichao expressed concern that Chen Ting might not approve of Li Jianjian, leading to future difficulties for her. Ling Heping reassured him that Chen Ting, residing in Singapore, couldn't interfere much.

After discussing Ling Xiao, Li Haichao then shared He Mei and He Ziqiu's story with Ling Heping. Meanwhile, Zhuang Bei finally mustered the courage to confess his feelings to Qi Mingyue. He arranged to meet her at a restaurant. Unable to say it aloud, he sent her a message. Qi Mingyue, without finishing the message, reacted with anger and questioned why he was confessing to her, knowing Tang Can liked him.

Zhuang Bei, at a loss, quickly explained that he had already clarified things with Tang Can and that he had always liked Qi Mingyue. Realizing his abruptness, he even tried to reintroduce himself. However, Qi Mingyue only considered Zhuang Bei a friend; she harbored feelings for Ling Xiao, even though he was now dating Li Jianjian. She did not accept Zhuang Bei's confession and left.

Soon after, Tang Can called Qi Mingyue excitedly, revealing that a director wanted to hire her for a role. Qi Mingyue, still feeling uneasy about Zhuang Bei's confession, was happy for Tang Can and agreed to discuss it in detail that evening. Later that night, Qi Mingyue was hesitant to go home. Downstairs, she received another text message from Zhuang Bei, prompting her to block him immediately.

Just then, Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao returned from dinner and saw Qi Mingyue. Li Jianjian playfully patted Qi Mingyue, who, startled, relaxed upon seeing it was her. Qi Mingyue glanced at Ling Xiao, and Li Jianjian, understanding, sent Ling Xiao upstairs first. Once alone, Qi Mingyue quietly confided in Li Jianjian about Zhuang Bei's confession, including his explicit statement that he didn't like Tang Can but liked Qi Mingyue. Li Jianjian, reflecting on her own experiences, felt it would be impossible to keep the matter a secret and privately thought that Zhuang Bei liking Qi Mingyue was overly dramatic.
