Li Jianjian asked Ling Xiao if he had a girlfriend, and he denied it, stating he already had someone he liked. When pressed, Ling Xiao described his beloved as both beautiful and very cute, which made Li Jianjian somewhat unhappy, feeling there was no need to delve deeper since she wouldn't meet the person anyway.
Li Jianjian also inquired about a burn scar on Ling Xiao's shoulder; he explained he had accidentally spilled hot porridge on himself, initially feeling no pain until he realized his clothes had stuck to his skin during treatment, making Li Jianjian feel pained. Qi Mingyue visited He Ziqiu at the hospital, bringing him flowers from Tang Can, along with clothes and toiletries for Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao.
Tang Can had sent the flowers because she was too embarrassed to see He Ziqiu after a previous joke, but He Ziqiu was not bothered and actually wanted to thank her, realizing that Li Jianjian didn't truly dislike him. Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao also brought coffee to the hospital, but Li Jianjian refused to let He Ziqiu drink it. Li Jianjian and Qi Mingyue later left the hospital together, discussing Ling Xiao's love life.
Qi Mingyue, who secretly harbored feelings for Ling Xiao but was too shy to confess, tried to discreetly inquire about his relationship status. Li Jianjian admitted she wasn't sure if Ling Xiao had a girlfriend but believed he would eventually, adding that some "wild girl" would take him away, which secretly upset Qi Mingyue. Later, Li Jianjian, Ling Xiao, and He Ziqiu took a walk outside the hospital and sat on a bench.
While Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao ate roasted sweet potatoes, they refused to share with He Ziqiu, who was craving them. Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu also brought up Zheng Shuran, wanting Li Jianjian to break up with him. Ling Xiao asked Li Jianjian if she genuinely liked Zheng Shuran, but after thinking for a while, Li Jianjian couldn't articulate a clear reason, only stating that she was happy now.
He Ziqiu looked up at the dark, starless sky, reflecting on how different it was from his childhood when he used to see many stars with Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian. Ling Xiao mentioned having seen similarly light-polluted skies in Singapore, suggesting one must go to deep mountains to truly see stars. He Ziqiu then suggested going home for a few days before returning to the hospital, worried about his dessert shop being unattended.
Ling Xiao chided him, saying he wasn't seriously hurt and could be discharged in two or three days. He Ziqiu also recalled his time studying abroad, often arguing with his biological father and wanting to return to China despite his compromise. After playing around, He Ziqiu developed a fever back in the ward, and Li Jianjian gave him medicine before telling him to sleep. He Ziqiu lay down, and Li Jianjian saw Ling Xiao reading a book.
Ling Xiao explained he reads it when he can't sleep; it's about two lonely children wanting to escape the city. Li Jianjian took the book out of curiosity and increasingly felt that the lonely children described were Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu, leaving her with complex emotions. Ling Xiao then fell asleep on Li Jianjian's shoulder. Ling Xiao had a private conversation with Zheng Shuran, asking him about his family background.
Zheng Shuran revealed he was an only child with no siblings and hoped that bringing Li Jianjian home would compensate for this lack. On a different occasion, when Zheng Shuran visited He Ziqiu in the hospital, he brought gifts but was met with an unfriendly reception from He Ziqiu. While a nurse was measuring He Ziqiu's temperature, Zheng Shuran stared intently at her waist.
Ling Xiao witnessed this, and after the nurse left, Zheng Shuran, seemingly finding inspiration, began sketching in his album. Li Jianjian, feeling awkward, explained that he was creating art. Ling Xiao later pulled Zheng Shuran aside for a meal and asked him why he liked Li Jianjian. After Zheng Shuran provided his reasons, Ling Xiao expressed his opinion that Zheng Shuran treated relationships too lightly.
While not opposing their friendship, Ling Xiao urged Zheng Shuran to consider if a fleeting romance was worth sacrificing a deep, soul-connected friendship. To improve Ling Xiao's sleep, Li Jianjian went to a bookstore to choose books for him. She also bought wallpaper and other decorations with Qi Mingyue, transforming Ling Xiao's room into a warm and cozy space.
He Ziqiu was discharged from the hospital and immediately insisted on taking a bath upon arriving home, even asking Ling Xiao for help. A gathering was held at home for hotpot, prepared by Qi Mingyue. Zhuang Bei also joined. Tang Can, upon seeing Zhuang Bei, immediately greeted him, but Zhuang Bei seemed afraid to speak to her, keeping his head down.
Tang Can, who had previously felt guilty and apologized to Li Jianjian for an unstated reason (and Li Jianjian embraced her without blame), then sarcastically explained to everyone that her relationship with Zhuang Bei was purely client-based. Qi Mingyue walked over, jokingly announcing that Li Jianjian and Tang Can were together, prompting Li Jianjian to invite Qi Mingyue to join their embrace, and the three hugged tightly, happily.
After dinner, while Qi Mingyue and Tang Can were singing karaoke in the living room, Zhuang Bei engaged Qi Mingyue in conversation. He asked her if she had a boyfriend and what she thought of Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu. Qi Mingyue, feeling shy, did not reveal her true feelings. Zhuang Bei then speculated that because Li Jianjian, Ling Xiao, and He Ziqiu had been close since childhood, one pair among them was bound to end up together.
Qi Mingyue dismissed this, stating that Ling Xiao already had someone he liked. Zhuang Bei further opined that men with a "sister complex" were undesirable, as their sister would always come first. However, Qi Mingyue countered that such men, being so kind to their sisters, would also be very good to their girlfriends. Li Jianjian and Qi Mingyue eventually became tipsy, singing loudly into the microphones without concern for their singing ability.
Later, with only Li Jianjian, He Ziqiu, and Ling Xiao remaining at the dinner table, Li Jianjian watched the two brothers bickering. Feeling emotional, she sat between them, embracing both. She reflected that since the previous day, she had realized she would deeply regret her recent harsh attitude towards He Ziqiu if anything truly happened to him. She genuinely welcomed both He Ziqiu and Ling Xiao home.
