Liang Yuanchao’s wife, Lin Jiahao, shared that ever since the investment scheme collapsed, Liang Yuanchao had been agitated, often talking loudly and even cursing in his sleep, showing he carried a heavy burden. Yi Shengli reassured Liang Yuanchao that the past was behind them and urged him not to dwell on it or blame Lin Jiahao, emphasizing that their neighbors would understand.
After Hao Pushi and Lin Jiahao stepped away to get some soup, Liang Yuanchao confessed to Yi Shengli that he had indeed gone to the river, contemplating suicide. He described the river as "dark and cold, flowing very fast," which made him hesitate. Just then, someone suddenly shouted, "Don't jump!" startling him and causing him to fall into the water.
Liang Yuanchao pleaded with Yi Shengli not to reveal this embarrassing detail, but Yi Shengli couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Meanwhile, Yi Nannan was preparing to leave for Hainan to join the army. Hao Pushi, despite Yi Nannan's reassurances that the army would provide everything, meticulously packed food and clothes, including a can of chili sauce and Dacron shirts, worried about him being in an unfamiliar place.
Later, she confided in Yi Dongdong, expressing her sadness that both her children were leaving her, with her daughter Sissy at boarding school and now Yi Nannan enlisting. Yi Dongdong tried to comfort her, explaining that Yi Nannan was going to temper himself and would return.

However, the approaching sound of a secretary's high heels forced him to hide, and the disc got stuck in the computer, causing him to miss the chance to retrieve it when the secretary entered, placed some files, and locked the office door.
Shortly after, Ou Xiaojian received a call from Cheng Fang, summoning him to the British mansion to meet some influential businessmen. He then contacted Li Zhaohang, informing him that Hongtu Investment had successfully laundered all its money and that Cheng Fang intended to siphon off the last round of fund-raising money before fleeing abroad. Ou Xiaojian urged Li Zhaohang to "close the net now," despite not having secured the physical evidence.
Li Zhaohang told Ou Xiaojian to find a way to get the evidence and prepare for the simultaneous arrest, assuring him he would intervene if Ou Xiaojian was in danger. Meanwhile, Antu, having collected the latest round of illicit funds, presented them to Cheng Fang and asked when they would "withdraw." Cheng Fang, stressing the importance of discretion during this "special period," instructed Antu to meticulously "make the November reports beautiful" before submitting them.
Later, while reviewing the reports, Antu realized a discrepancy and, recalling Ou Xiaojian’s earlier presence, grew suspicious. He confronted Ou Xiaojian and Li Zhaohang on the rooftop, accusing Ou Xiaojian of being problematic and demanding he return to Cheng Fang. During the ensuing struggle, Antu wounded Ou Xiaojian in the abdomen. Antu then held Li Zhaohang hostage to protect Ou Xiaojian, demanding that Ou Xiaojian handcuff himself.
Li Zhaohang, using his last strength, managed to throw Antu off the rooftop, but was fatally wounded himself and died. With police sirens approaching, Ou Xiaojian, seeing Li Zhaohang dead, was forced to flee the scene. News quickly spread about someone jumping from the Hongtu company building, attracting police attention. Ma Xiaoxiao, who was at Hongtu company seeking legal assistance for affected investors, began searching for Ou Xiaojian but he was gone.
In her distraught state, she was struck by a car. Yi Dongdong, upon hearing of Ma Xiaoxiao's accident, rushed to the hospital. Mistaking another injured person for her, he broke down in tears, believing she had died. To his shock, Ma Xiaoxiao, with a bandaged arm, then walked out of a room and called his name, asking him why he was so upset. He explained his misunderstanding, and she lightly brushed off her injuries as "just a rub."
Yi Dongdong promised to send her back to her ward and prepare a special fish soup for her, even agreeing to remove ingredients she disliked, including the dried fish itself. Later, Ou Xiaojian received a wooden box from Li Zhaohang's colleague, who explained that Li Zhaohang had left it to be given to whoever lived in his secret house, should he "sacrifice." Inside, Ou Xiaojian found a recorder with Li Zhaohang's voice.
The recording revealed the truth about his father, Ou Jianguo. In 1972, during an operation to catch an arsonist, Li Zhaohang's mistake led to Captain Ou accidentally shooting someone, and Captain Ou took the blame for it. Captain Ou, who was secretly working undercover to investigate a cross-border smuggling ring, used his subsequent imprisonment to gain the trust of the criminal gang and collect vital intelligence.
On the day of his release, as the gang prepared for a major criminal operation, Li Zhaohang was tasked with assisting Captain Ou. To maintain the secrecy of the mission, authorities faked Captain Ou's suicide by drowning. However, during the operation, Captain Ou and the gang leader disappeared together and were never found.
Li Zhaohang expressed his regret for not revealing the truth sooner and affirmed that Ou Jianguo was a "hero" and an "unknown good policeman" who bore immense pressure. Listening to Li Zhaohang's final words repeatedly throughout the night, Ou Xiaojian made a profound decision as dawn broke. A news report confirmed Antu's death by falling from the Hongtu Trade and Investment Company building, and the company's sealing due to illegal fund-raising. Although Hongtu had fallen, Cheng Fang remained active.
Ou Xiaojian contacted her, and she was surprised by his call. He reaffirmed his loyalty, and she gave him an address. Meanwhile, Zeng Hao and Liang Xiaobao returned, happily announcing their engagement to Ma Xiaoxiao, who was genuinely happy for them.
Zeng Hao noted that Ma Xiaoxiao and Ou Xiaojian, despite being the "most outstanding people" on Mayang Street and seemingly the best match, were ultimately "too alike," in contrast to her relationship with Liang Xiaobao, where they had both changed for each other. Standing at her doorstep, looking towards Little Hong Kong, Ma Xiaoxiao inwardly wished for Ou Xiaojian's safety, no matter where he was. She acknowledged that this time, she had truly let go, bidding him a silent farewell. Ou Xiaojian was last seen boarding a flight at the airport, heading to an unknown destination.
