Dark Night and Dawn Episode 4 Recap
> Dark Night and Dawn Recap
Discovering he had been deceived, Lu Zhengyang went directly to Lin Shaobai's house to wait for him. Lin Shaobai rushed home, only to find Lu Zhengyang sitting in his house. Lin Shaobai had no choice but to take Lu Zhengyang to the Haolaiwu Club to look for someone. Luo San had a big gambling addiction and was a regular here, so Lin Shaobai suspected that if he had money, he would come here to play a few hands.
Lin Shaobai was like a fish in water in social settings; lies came easily to him. He chatted happily with the club owner, Gu Laoban, claiming that he was on duty at the Public Security Bureau and describing Lu Zhengyang as his newly recruited subordinate. Lu Zhengyang did not expose Lin Shaobai's lie either.
Lin Shaobai subtly inquired and found out that Luo San had been here yesterday, lost two small gold bars, owed Gu Laoban a large sum of money, and would come back to pay it in a couple of days. Lin Shaobai got the name of the hotel Luo San was staying at from Gu Laoban. Afterward, Lu Zhengyang went with him to the hotel room, only to be startled to find Luo San dead in bed.
Lu Zhengyang asked the waiter to call the Public Security Bureau to report the case. He then took out the ear portrait and confirmed that the person who picked the lock was Luo San. Lu Zhengyang's movements were within Bo Lao's calculations. He instructed Xiao Yun to prepare a "welcome gift" to wait for the police to investigate here. Lin Shaobai invited Jin Yan, who worked part-time as a forensic doctor, to perform the autopsy.
He did not forget to boast in front of Lu Zhengyang that he and Jin Yan were childhood sweethearts and that the Lin family and Jin Maochang's family were old acquaintances. At the autopsy report meeting, Jin Yan stated that Luo San died of poisoning. With Lin Shaobai's help, Lu Zhengyang followed the clues and traced it to the Wu family iron factory, deciding to take action that very night.
Lin Shaobai considered himself part of the operation and asked for a gun, but what he got was a pair of handcuffs. Lu Zhengyang arrived at the Wu family iron factory with his team. Wang Liqun was ambushing from a high vantage point. Bo Lao had previously instructed him that if Lu Zhengyang wasn't killed by the explosion, he should finish him off, trying his best not to expose himself. The telephone in the guardhouse rang.
Lu Zhengyang used visual distraction, allowing Lao Xu (Xu Wei) to sneak over and apprehend the enemy agent at the high position, while he himself detonated explosives to confuse the opponent. Wang Liqun was not an easy target either; sensing that the police were approaching him, he immediately opened fire to protect himself and fled during the chaos. Wang Liqun called to report the failure of the operation and that he himself had sustained superficial injuries.
Bo Lao coldly ordered him not to make any mistakes in the next operation and showed no concern for his injuries. Lu Zhengyang suspected that the enemy agents were eager to sell silver dollars, and the only place on the market where large amounts of silver dollars could be exchanged was known only to Lin Shaobai. Lin Shaobai told them that before the liberation, the Kuomintang had already exchanged the money held by the common people for Gold Yuan Certificates.
Now, the only places where large amounts of silver dollars could be exchanged were banks, specifically underground banks. The Haolaiwu Club they had been to before was ostensibly a gambling house, but secretly it was a large underground bank. Lin Shaobai took Lu Zhengyang to gamble at Haolaiwu. He lost the money he brought, and then Lu Zhengyang took over, won it all back, and directly won over six thousand silver dollars from Haolaiwu.
Gu Laoban appeared, attempting to use six thousand silver dollars to dismiss them. Lu Zhengyang used these silver dollars to cause a commotion in the gambling house, while Lin Shaobai took advantage of the chaos to sneak into Gu Laoban's office. Lin Shaobai picked the lock on Gu Laoban's safe and found numerous gold bars inside. Gu Laoban argued that these were lost by gamblers, but Lin Shaobai exposed his lie.
Gu Laoban was embarrassed and angry and initially didn't want to confess, but after Lin Shaobai's persuasion, he revealed the time and location of the transaction with the other party tomorrow. Lu Zhengyang brought people to stake out, but unexpectedly, before they could make the arrest, the person was silenced by the enemy agents from the shadows. Bo Lao had someone organize a team called the Anti-G Salvation Army and used them to carry out his Anti-G plan.
