Following the intense events in Shengjiang, Hao Dong found himself in a desperate situation, still unable to believe that Lei Zi would betray them. When pressed for a plan by Lao Zhuo, Hao Dong initially admitted he had none. As Lao Zhuo ordered his men to take him away, a terrified Hao Dong desperately pleaded for more time to investigate, asserting he possessed Dahuang Capsule.
This assertion was met with skepticism, as he had previously stated the goods were seized, but in truth, he had been researching the capsule and had his own means to produce it. Facing a grim fate, Hao Dong screamed that if he were killed, the truth about the Dahuang Capsule would remain hidden. Amidst this turmoil, Wu Zhenfeng called Lao Zhuo, identifying himself and asserting his intention to meet, but only after ensuring Qiong Jie was well taken care of.
Meanwhile, Chen Yu expressed his deep anger to Lin Dezan upon learning that Wu Zhenfeng had gone to Hong Kong. He saw it as a reckless gamble with Wu Zhenfeng's life, even if it represented a final opportunity to apprehend the drug traffickers. Lin Dezan explained that Chen Liwen had established a valuable contact in Hong Kong who might be able to assist Wu Zhenfeng.
Chen Liwen's crucial contact was Uncle Sha, a former underworld figure known as the "White Powder King." Chen Liwen had once saved Uncle Sha's life and helped him go legitimate. Feeling compelled to repay this long-standing debt after Chen Liwen's outreach, Uncle Sha actively sought out Wu Zhenfeng and then guided him to meet Lao Zhuo.
Upon meeting Lao Zhuo, Wu Zhenfeng first apologized for his forceful entry, explaining he acted that way to avoid implicating Uncle Sha in any rough tactics. He then introduced Uncle Sha to Lao Zhuo as an old friend of his father, asserting his connections.
Wu Zhenfeng boldly declared that with Wan Heda apprehended and the usual routes closed, he was the only one who could manage transportation, asserting that Uncle Sha had boats and from now on, he would lead the way. Lao Zhuo and others expressed their mistrust, stating their only reason for the meeting was out of respect for Qiong Jie. Wu Zhenfeng challenged them, reminding them that Hong Kong's drug trade wasn't monopolized, nor was Mokkha the only source.
Qiong Jie questioned his loyalty to Mokkha, to which Wu Zhenfeng simply replied he "used to be." Uncle Sha attempted to leave with Wu Zhenfeng, sensing the futility, but Qiong Jie halted them. Qiong Jie then demanded information about the Dahuang Capsule from Hao Dong. Hao Dong admitted the existing supply was gone, but that he had someone else producing it. He revealed that the people were in Yunhe and the raw materials were in the mainland, making retrieval challenging.
Qiong Jie indicated a desire to proceed with a new batch in Mokkha. Simultaneously, the police made significant progress in their own investigation. They discovered a drug lab in the basement of a wood carving factory, containing raw materials and Dahuang Capsule counterfeits matching those from the Yun Dian Disco case. High concentrations of Diazepam, identical to the drug injected during Wan Mengmeng's stabbing, were also found.
Based on Yu Miao's unusually swift reaction during Wan Mengmeng's stabbing at the rehab center, his prior private assistance with her detox, and the meticulously organized state of both the lab and Yu Miao’s office, Chen Yu and the police deduced that Yu Miao was likely Hao Dong's drug maker for the K organization, and the person who stabbed Wan Mengmeng but then, out of fear, saved her.
In light of these developments, Liu Kaihua was expelled from party membership and public office, and handed over to judicial authorities. Liang Hao was appointed acting deputy captain, and Lin Dezan's transfer was postponed, with him continuing to lead the public security work in Yunhe. A solemn farewell ceremony was prepared for the fallen officer, Yang Yi, who had always vowed to be the first to face danger and sacrifice.
Lin Dezan visited Gong Wei's gatehouse, overcome with grief and self-reproach. He agonized over his failure to protect Gong Wei, Liu Kaihua, and now Yang Yi, questioning his worth as a director. He expressed deep reluctance to retire under such circumstances, pondering if his failures were due to his incompetence or an inescapable fate, yet resigned himself to accepting it if it were his destiny.
Chen Yu and Lin Dezan later visited Yang Ling, who was distraught and secluded in her room. Chen Yu embraced her, burdened by his own guilt, confessing that he was the one who called Yang Yi to the tea factory that fateful night, leading him to believe Yang Yi died there. He vowed to bring the person responsible for Yang Yi’s death and the family's ruin to justice, regardless of their proximity.
Chen Yu also directly stated his suspicion that Yang Xingquan was responsible for her family's ruin, a possibility Yang Ling secretly harbored but refused to admit. Chen Yu urged her to maintain a facade of normalcy to avoid alerting Yang Xingquan. The entire police force, led by Chen Liwen, gathered for Yang Yi's farewell, standing solemnly before a hero's monument.
Later, Yang Ling visited Yang Yi’s grave, sharing her quiet thoughts with her brother, believing her presence would bring him happiness. From a distance, Chen Yu observed her, then silently departed and called Lin Dezan, requesting a meeting. General Yu, through Qiong Jie and Lao Zhuo's negotiation, set new conditions for continuing the drug transactions: both Wu Zhenfeng and Hao Dong must return to Mokkha, and the Dahuang Capsule must be manufactured there.
Qiong Jie offered herself as a hostage to facilitate the trust, but Lao Zhuo, trusting General Yu, allowed her to return, stating she was no longer needed as collateral. As Chen Yu looked at Yang Yi's photo, recalling their shared past and placing it near his heart, Lin Dezan revealed that Wu Zhenfeng trusted Chen Yu more than he realized, citing a phone call Wu Zhenfeng made to him from Mokkha as proof.
Driven by a bold idea, Chen Yu proposed an infiltration. He aimed to go undercover, cooperate with Wu Zhenfeng from within the criminal organization, and ensure his safety. He acknowledged the enemy might not trust him, but argued that his knowledge of the Dahuang Capsule would be a powerful leverage they would be compelled to accept.
Despite Lin Dezan's grim assessment of his chances, Chen Yu passionately insisted on his 80% certainty in protecting Wu Zhenfeng, even if it meant sacrificing his own life. Chen Yu then proposed a face-to-face meeting, which Qiong Jie accepted, naming Wu's Jade Shop as the location. Upon meeting Chen Yu at the shop, Qiong Jie, accompanied by Erliang, took Chen Yu's phone and issued a new demand: he must help them bring Yu Miao from the Yunhe Rehab Center. Qiong Jie then ominously stated that the police would arrive soon, intending to arrest Chen Yu that very day, placing him in an extremely precarious position.
