After Xu Feng left, Liu Ying still harbored a desire for retribution against Sui He for Mu Ci's death, despite Xu Feng having already stripped her of her powers and position. Sui He, feeling utterly disgraced as the former Princess of Heaven and leader of the Bird Clan, dared Liu Ying to kill her. Jin Mi intervened, suggesting that living in her current state was a greater torment than death itself, and urged Liu Ying to let her go.
Liu Ying conceded, agreeing that simply ending Sui He's life would be too merciful. She commanded her demon soldiers to banish Sui He to the wilderness, forbidding her from ever leaving the Demon Realm. Sui He, in turn, bitterly cursed Jin Mi and Liu Ying, prophesying their eventual downfall. Meanwhile, Run Yu walked alone into the deserted Empyrean Cloud Palace.
The grand hall, which should have been buzzing with activity for his wedding to Jin Mi, was now empty due to her elopement. Separately, Xu Feng entered Xingjing Court. He absorbed the magic power of Qiong Qi, aiming to use its might to unify the six realms. He reflected on his late father's ambition to unite all realms, vowing to complete this unfinished task and assert his sole dominion.
His armies were already positioned and prepared for battle, awaiting his formal address. Run Yu declared his intent to retrieve the Heavenly Queen and resume their wedding ceremony. Jin Mi admired the exquisite demon wedding dress she wore, remarking that she might become reluctant to take it off if she wore it too long. Xu Feng approached her, questioning how she could find it beautiful given her inability to discern colors.
He expressed his bitterness, asking if marrying him caused her such misery that she didn't want to wear the dress, dismissing their union as "phony affection" and a mere "play." Jin Mi then produced the last Hairy Feather in existence, explaining that Run Yu had added cynanchum atratum to his Jiuzhuan Golden Elixir, and the Hairy Feather could counteract its extreme chill, thereby curing Xu Feng's autophagy.
She implored him to take it, promising to leave his life forever once he recovered. Xu Feng refused, asking if she believed this act could absolve her of her past sins. He confessed that while he hated her deeply, he hated himself even more. He had spent years steeling himself to hate her, yet the two drops of their blood on the heart-testing stone had undone all his efforts, revealing his inability to forget her.
Jin Mi, acknowledging his hatred, apologized. She explained that his harsh words and actions during their wedding were a calculated ploy to provoke Sui He into revealing her Pure Glazed Flame, and pondered if their unexpected passing of the heart test was a twist of fate. She then asked if they could ever return to their former selves. Xu Feng's silence was followed by a definitive "No, we can't anymore."
As Jin Mi's heart shattered, Xu Feng pulled her into an embrace, suggesting they could start anew. He begged her to stay by his side and never lie to him again, warning that if she did, he would accompany her to the primordial world. A demon soldier reported to Xu Feng that Run Yu had mobilized millions of heavenly troops along the Wangchuan River, falsely claiming to rescue the Water Immortal.
Liu Ying and the King of Bian City were already engaged in battle. Jin Mi, distressed, pleaded with Xu Feng to trust her, explaining she didn't understand Run Yu's motives. Xu Feng dismissed Run Yu's pretense of rescue as a thinly veiled excuse for war, affirming his readiness to face him in a fight to the death. Jin Mi desperately tried to dissuade him from going to the front.
On the battlefield at Wangchuan River, Run Yu initially ordered his troops to wait until he had retrieved Jin Mi. When Xu Feng, clad in martial attire and transformed into a phoenix, arrived with Jin Mi, Run Yu reiterated his demand for her return. Xu Feng countered that Jin Mi was in the Demon Realm by choice and was his honored guest. Jin Mi corroborated this, asserting she was well and would not return to the Heaven Realm.
Xu Feng then revealed their wedding from the previous night, declaring Jin Mi the Queen of the Demon Realm, unwilling to leave him. Enraged, Run Yu cited his prior marriage contract with Jin Mi, accusing Xu Feng of betraying the Heaven Realm, succumbing to the demonic path, and holding the Heavenly Queen hostage. He urged Xu Feng to repent. Xu Feng defiantly asserted the legitimacy of their marriage, witnessed by both demon and bird clans.
Jin Mi questioned Xu Feng's provocative words, to which he replied it was necessary to preempt Run Yu's manipulations. A report from Liu Ying further revealed Run Yu's forces had seized the Floral Realm and threatened to destroy one type of flower daily until Jin Mi returned. Run Yu confirmed this was a tactic to coerce Jin Mi's return. Xu Feng staunchly refused to release her, prompting Run Yu to vow the extermination of every demon.
Jin Mi cried out, begging them to stop the war, but Run Yu declared his intent to turn the Floral Realm and Wangchuan into a bloody Acheron. Xu Feng, in turn, ordered his soldiers to protect Jin Mi and asserted that the battle was inevitable. The war between the Heaven and Demon Realms raged, with heavenly fire raining down and countless lives lost. Jin Mi, caught amidst the demon generals, felt overwhelmed by helplessness.
Run Yu, in a show of righteous indignation, condemned Xu Feng for his unnatural resurrection and demonic path, declaring him deserving of death. Xu Feng fiercely retorted that he had always defied destiny and would continue to do so today. Having recently lost half of his magic power, Xu Feng was severely wounded by Run Yu in their escalating duel, his life hanging by a thread.
Jin Mi rushed to him, observing that his autophagy had worsened, and desperately pleaded with him to cease fighting and agree to a truce. Xu Feng, however, remained resolute, summoning his Demon Subduing Pestle to continue the battle. Witnessing the horrific war caused by her presence and the innocent lives being sacrificed, Jin Mi experienced a sudden enlightenment. Realizing she was the root cause of the conflict, she resolved to sacrifice herself for the peace of the two realms.
She understood that her life, saved against the natural order, had inadvertently become a ridiculous pretext for war, a personal entanglement that had tragically expanded to involve everyone. Jin Mi soared into the sky, placing herself directly between Xu Feng and Run Yu. The combined force of their attacks struck her simultaneously. Xu Feng caught her as she fell, utterly heartbroken and weeping inconsolably.
With her fading breath, Jin Mi apologized to Run Yu, acknowledging her inability to ever repay his love. She expressed her wish for him to relinquish his hatred and revert to his former gentle self, the kind Fish Fairy. Run Yu, deeply moved, promised he would. She then turned to Xu Feng, yearning to hear him utter words of forgiveness. Weeping, Xu Feng confessed that he had never hated her, but rather hated himself from the very beginning.
Jin Mi then made him promise to consume the last Hairy Feather before tomorrow's sunset and to take care of himself. She then drifted into a melancholic recollection of happier times, wishing they could return to the days when she was his page boy and he the arrogant Phoenix, and Run Yu was a gentle, kind boy, fondly remembering their friends and family.
As she spoke a poignant Buddhist verse about love, worry, and fear, her form dissolved into ashes, and she vanished from existence. Jin Mi's ultimate sacrifice brought a fragile peace to the six realms. Run Yu, honoring her final wish, vowed never to step into the Demon Realm again during his lifetime, formally establishing a clear boundary between the Heaven and Demon Realms.
In the Floral Realm, all the flowers closed their blossoms and refused to open again, as the Floral Immortals wept in profound grief. Even the Fox Immortal and Lord Puchi struggled to comprehend and accept Jin Mi's true departure.
