As Xu Feng lay dying, he confirmed that Jin Mi's strand of hair was indeed attached to the essence of his Internal Dan. Jin Mi watched him fall, a flood of memories from their two lifetimes together overwhelming her. She gasped, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood, and with it, the Yun Elixir. The Heavenly Emperor, witnessing his son’s imminent demise, could not bear to see Xu Feng vanish completely.
He gathered all his internal power, transformed into his true form, and managed to collect one of Xu Feng's souls before his own spiritual power was depleted, leading to his death. With the Yun Elixir expelled, the Frost Blossom emerged from within Jin Mi. Addressing Jin Mi, she wept, questioning why Jin Mi had killed the one she loved so dearly. Jin Mi remained unconscious for half a year.
During this period, Run Yu ascended to the throne as the Heavenly Emperor. The Heaven Realm, still reeling from the catastrophe six months prior, was in urgent need of rebuilding and talented individuals. Run Yu declared his intention to present a revitalized Heaven Realm to all realms, stating that he would hire people based on their virtue and talent, disregarding past grievances. Just as Run Yu's enthronement ceremony concluded, Jin Mi finally awoke.
Her attendant, Kuang Lu, informed her of the events of the past half-year. Jin Mi, still disoriented, asked about her father and then about Xu Feng. Kuang Lu gently reminded Jin Mi that she was now the Water Immortal and that her father was gone. When Jin Mi pressed about Xu Feng, Kuang Lu evasively replied that there was no longer a Fire Immortal. The truth crashed down on Jin Mi.
Overwhelmed with grief and confusion, she recalled her motivations for the attack, crying out that Xu Feng had killed her father and Auntie Lin Xiu, before lamenting that she herself had killed him. Upon hearing of Jin Mi's awakening, Run Yu rushed to her side. Jin Mi cried out, describing her pain as if countless needles and knives were piercing her heart, spreading from her chest to every part of her body.
Her mouth was bitter, and she felt an indescribable agony. Run Yu tried to comfort her, offering her a sweet treat and promising that everything would be alright. He suggested they hold a grand wedding ceremony for her in the coming spring. However, Jin Mi vomited blood again, unable to stop crying. Run Yu later honored Kuang Lu by bestowing upon her the title of Fairy Shangyuan and granting her the Xuanzhou Fairyland.
In front of Immortal Tai Si and other immortals, he praised her for her meticulous work and cautious conduct. He also assigned her a grotto-dwelling to serve as her residence while she undertook the critical task of revising the Heaven Realm's astronomical calendar. He emphasized the importance of this new calendar for the livelihood of all six realms, entrusting her with this significant responsibility. Kuang Lu expressed her gratitude and pledged to do her best.
Run Yu also instructed Kuang Lu to meticulously archive all documents related to the late Water Immortal's case, ensuring Jin Mi would not encounter them and be further saddened. Run Yu then went to the palace where Tu Yao was imprisoned. Tu Yao, still defiant, mockingly asked if he had come to gloat over her misery. Run Yu coolly informed her of Xu Feng's destruction on his wedding day, impaled by a blade to his Internal Dan essence.
He added that the Heavenly Emperor, heartbroken, had also destroyed his own primordial spirit and died. Tu Yao vehemently denied his claims until the Heaven guardians entered, addressing Run Yu as "Your Majesty," which forced her to accept the grim reality. She cursed Run Yu, accusing him of mercilessly harming Xu Feng, who had regarded him as a beloved brother.
Run Yu retorted, questioning her own compassion when she murdered his mother, Su Li, plotted against Jin Mi, and annihilated the Lize Pond water tribe. Realizing the full extent of her suffering, Tu Yao pleaded for death, but Run Yu refused. He dragged her to the precipice of Linyuan Tower, the same place where the Floral Immortal had been forced to jump after being burned by Tu Yao's Glazed Pure Fire.
Run Yu commanded her to jump, telling her to reflect on the countless innocent souls she had trampled to achieve her supreme position. When Tu Yao attempted to leap, Run Yu intervened, saving her from death. He declared that he would not let her die easily, but rather make her endure the agony of losing both her husband and son, forcing her to witness his unification of the Heaven Realm and its lasting peace.
Late that night, Run Yu was overcome with alcohol and haunting memories of Xu Feng. He remembered their innocent childhood, how Xu Feng had always protected him, and the gifts they had exchanged. He recalled Xu Feng defending him against rude palace maids, stating that offending the Night God was offending the Fire God.
He also remembered a time when he gave Xu Feng a gift from Zifangyun Palace to treat his fire poison, and in return, Xu Feng gifted him the Sparkling Aqua-essence to soothe the ice toxin in his body. These poignant recollections, however, were tinged with bitterness. He saw Xu Feng's phantom and raged internally, questioning why Xu Feng, though dead, continued to haunt him.
Run Yu resented Xu Feng for always being superior, loved, and admired, while he himself had no choice but to accept what was given, never asked what he desired. He confessed that he had once striven to become stronger so he could give Xu Feng whatever he wished, but realized that as long as Xu Feng existed, he could never be the strongest. He wanted none of their "hypocritical rewards and mercy."
Meanwhile, in the Demon Realm, King of Gu City learned of the instability and disunity within the Heaven Realm following Run Yu's ascent. Over the past six months, he had been recruiting soldiers, strengthening the Demon Realm's forces, and now plotted to conquer the Heaven Realm, aiming to fulfill the aspiration of unifying the six realms that the late Heavenly Emperor had failed to achieve. Liu Ying also heard of Jin Mi's awakening.
Enraged, she prepared to go to the Heaven Realm to avenge Xu Feng. She believed that Jin Mi and Run Yu had conspired to betray Xu Feng, calling them a despicable match. Mu Ci, however, urged her to consider the bigger picture and act cautiously, pointing out that the new Heavenly Emperor's stance towards the Demon Realm was still unclear.
He also questioned if there might be unknown circumstances surrounding Xu Feng's death, though Liu Ying remained convinced of Jin Mi's guilt. Back in the Heaven Realm, Jin Mi saw the epiphyllum blooming in the daytime, a sight made possible by Run Yu's magic. This reminded her of a time when Xu Feng had used his magic to make phoenix flowers bloom perennially for her. The sweet memories of Xu Feng continued to torment her.
Run Yu again tried to comfort her, reminding her that he had fulfilled all his promises and that those who had harmed her, including the dethroned Heavenly Empress who now suffered in Linyuan Tower, had received their just punishment. He told her that she had avenged her father, as well as the Floral and Wind Immortals, making her debt with Xu Feng settled. He urged her not to torment herself, for everything would pass.
He then proposed to her once more, promising to stay by her side through joy and sorrow, and to build a peaceful future together for thousands of years. But Jin Mi's heart remained heavy. She cried, tormented by the sweet memories and pondering why she was the one suffering so much when Xu Feng had been the one in the wrong.
