> Ashes of Love Recap

Jin Mi is listening to a storyteller praise King Yi's military achievements when she interjects to correct a detail about a past battle. She vividly describes how King Yi, despite being trapped and surrounded by the enemy, showed no fear, single-handedly broke through the siege, and swiftly disarmed the enemy general. The audience, captivated by her recount, applauds heartily. The storyteller, annoyed by her interruption, asks if she intends to take his job.

Jin Mi apologizes, explaining she merely corrected an inaccuracy. Later, Qiang Huo asks Jin Mi how she knows so much about King Yi's battles. Jin Mi fabricates a story, claiming she heard Qin Tong recount these battlefield tales. Soon after returning to Beiyuan Villa, Jin Mi is summoned to Xu Feng's palace by Qin Tong. Xu Feng invites her to sit beside him to make a phoenix lantern.

Though Jin Mi admits she doesn't know how, Xu Feng assures her he will guide her. They work together late into the night, creating a somewhat crooked lantern. Jin Mi apologizes for her clumsiness, but Xu Feng cherishes it as "their" lantern and decides to keep it. He then leads her to a courtyard filled with many other phoenix lanterns, which he made himself, and asks if she likes them.

Jin Mi, overjoyed by the sight, proclaims she loves them all. However, as they gaze at each other, Jin Mi internally struggles, reminding herself that he is King Yi and she is a Saint Girl, and she must not harbor romantic feelings for him. Convinced she needs a "Mind Relief Pill" to suppress her emotions, she quickly makes an excuse of being tired and leaves.

Xu Feng, regretting not stopping her, instructs Qin Tong to send all the lanterns to Jin Mi's courtyard. News of Xu Feng lighting an entire courtyard of phoenix lanterns for the Saint Girl reaches Sui He, who becomes furious. Suddenly, Qi Yuan appears, announcing he is there on the Heavenly Empress's orders to restore her celestial memories. Once her memories are unlocked, Sui He's rage intensifies, remembering her past grievances with Jin Mi in the Heaven Realm.

She demands to know why Jin Mi is still alive and, despite Qi Yuan admitting to losing the Spirit-Vanishing Arrow, orders him to find a way to eliminate Jin Mi, ensuring she can never be with Xu Feng. Qi Yuan agrees to her command. Later, Sui He approaches her father, Duke Nanping, to discuss her marriage to Xu Feng.

She strategically suggests that even if they can't dethrone Xu Feng, their future child would make Duke Nanping a powerful grandfather, securing his influence. Duke Nanping, weighing his ambitions and power, agrees to promote the marriage, promising to submit a memorial to the King within days to hasten the union.

Days later, Xu Feng is frustrated by the continuous stream of memorials from ministers, particularly from Duke Nanping, who now insist on his marriage to Sui He and the production of an heir, just days after trying to remove him from the throne. Qin Tong attempts to reason with him, but Xu Feng dismisses the ministers' understanding of his heart.

When Qin Tong informs him of Jin Mi's memorial requesting to return to the Saint Doctor Family, Xu Feng is deeply troubled. He orders several pots of osmanthus wine, remarking that he needs to "brave himself" for a difficult "battle." Meanwhile, Jin Mi is anxious about the unanswered memorial. She realizes that if she remains close to Xu Feng, she will be unable to control her burgeoning feelings for him. She believes it is better to leave this tumultuous place.

Moon Immortal arrives in the mortal world to check on Xu Feng and Jin Mi, unexpectedly finding Yan You there. Yan You conceals the details of the Spirit-Vanishing Arrow, claiming he is only there to check on Jin Mi's well-being. Moon Immortal, who had previously tried to bind Xu Feng and Jin Mi with a red rope, wonders if his efforts have borne fruit.

Yan You then reveals Xu Feng's current distress over his impending marriage to Sui He, a union orchestrated by Duke Nanping and the ministers. Moon Immortal expresses his strong dislike for Sui He, believing she is unworthy of Xu Feng. Yan You then proposes a clever scheme to resolve the issue, which Moon Immortal enthusiastically approves. While Jin Mi is pondering her departure, a heavily intoxicated Xu Feng stumbles into her chambers.

He reveals the immense pressure from Duke Nanping and the ministers to marry Sui He. Jin Mi attempts to deflect the conversation, calling the match "good" and instead inquiring about her memorial to return to the Saint Doctor Family. Xu Feng then pours out his heart, confessing his deep feelings for her, which he felt from their first meeting. He tells her that he has never wanted to leave her side, even after his recovery.

He proposes a plan for her to fake her death and, after a period of being secretly hidden in the mortal world, return as a daughter of a high official, thereby freeing her from the restrictive Saint Girl identity and allowing them to be together.

However, Jin Mi, citing the unbreakable century-old rules of her family, rejects his proposal, arguing that even if he has a thousand ways to protect her, her family would have a thousand and one ways to kill her. She further tries to dissuade him by claiming her true face is "ugly" beneath her veil and that her only passion is medicine.

She urges him to prioritize the state and his duties as a "wise king," warning that their forbidden love would become a "stain" on his reign. Hurt by her words and apparent lack of trust, Xu Feng questions if she truly sees him as unreliable. He then sternly states he will not approve her memorial and abruptly leaves her chambers. Unbeknownst to them, Qiang Huo witnesses this exchange and walks away in disappointment.

The next day, Qiang Huo asks Jin Mi if King Yi has approved their request to return to the Saint Doctor Family. Jin Mi avoids a direct answer, claiming that Xu Feng is preoccupied with pressing state affairs and has likely not yet considered their request, adding that "it doesn't matter" if they stay a few more days.

Qiang Huo serves her a cup of tea, seemingly reflecting on whether Jin Mi truly wants to return, questioning if she would ever see Xu Feng again if they left. Meanwhile, Sui He is meticulously planning her wedding to Xu Feng, expressing her anticipation to her attendants, eager to make it perfect even for a brief mortal life. Yan You, who has been following her, suddenly appears.

He uses his magic to stun her, recognizing that her heavenly memories have been reactivated. He then freezes her, mocking her mortal body's vulnerability despite her recovered celestial knowledge, and taunts her about their past conflicts in the Heaven Realm, promising to settle old scores. Shortly after, Duke Nanping receives urgent news that Sui He has vanished from her carriage, with her attendant found unconscious. Furious, he immediately orders a city-wide search for his missing daughter.

Qin Tong reports to Xu Feng that Sui He is missing and that Duke Nanping has requested his aid in the search. However, he quickly adds that Sui He has already arrived at Beiyuan Villa, accompanied by a man named Pu Chi, and seeks King Yi's judgment. Yan You, as Pu Chi, brings the still-frozen Sui He before Xu Feng.

Holding Sui He, Yan You speaks to her provocatively about their "star-crossed love," even as Sui He internally struggles and threatens him with dire consequences in the Heaven Realm. Yan You dismisses her threats, stating he is already a "criminal" and finds joy in their mortal union. Just then, Moon Immortal appears and subtly casts a Puppet Incantation on Sui He.

Yan You, playing the part of Pu Chi, addresses Xu Feng, presenting himself as a hanger-on from Duke Nanping's palace who, despite their difference in status, has fallen deeply in love with Sui He. He humbly requests Xu Feng's blessing for their union. Xu Feng turns to Sui He, asking if she reciprocates Pu Chi's feelings.

Under the influence of the Puppet Incantation, Sui He, despite her inner protests, declares her profound love for Pu Chi and requests Xu Feng to grant their marriage. Seeing what appears to be a genuine declaration of love, Xu Feng, with a magnanimous spirit, agrees to their request. He officially announces the cancellation of his engagement with Sui He, granting her the freedom to choose her own husband.

The onlookers are utterly captivated by the dramatic turn of events, finding it far more thrilling than any recounted tale. Yan You and Moon Immortal covertly celebrate the success of their ingenious plan. Meanwhile, in the Heaven Realm, Run Yu decides to travel to the mortal world to investigate the mystery surrounding the Spirit-Vanishing Arrow and the Spirit Fireball, believing that an individual there might hold the key to the answers he seeks.

He instructs Kuang Lu to diligently guard Xuanji Palace in his absence. Kuang Lu ponders the unusual connection between the two magical items and wonders who this knowledgeable "expert" in the mortal world could be.
