After Immortal Jiyuan left the Heavenly Empress's palace, she was immediately summoned to Fire Immortal Xu Feng's residence. Xu Feng, worried about Jin Mi, questioned her extensively about the details of Jin Mi's mortal trial: its nature, duration, the hardships she would face, her family background, and everyone she would encounter. Seeing Xu Feng's distress, Moon Immortal intervened, reminding Xu Feng that Jin Mi's trial was mandated by the Heavenly Emperor and was inevitable.
Moon Immortal jokingly asked Immortal Jiyuan if she was switching to military service, but she reaffirmed her lifelong ambition as a matchmaker. Xu Feng sternly inquired about the consequences of inaccurate predictions. Immortal Jiyuan assured him of her dedication, explaining that all mortals experience seven sorrows, and Jin Mi was to endure as many as possible. When Moon Immortal suggested finding Jin Mi a suitable husband, Xu Feng quickly objected.
Immortal Jiyuan then proposed a fate as a lone-star nun, which Xu Feng also rejected, fearing Jin Mi might truly renounce worldly attachments. His rejection extended to the idea of Jin Mi being born male. Finally, Immortal Jiyuan suggested the Saint Doctor Family, a reclusive community of female virgins dedicated to medicine, who are forbidden from showing their faces to men or marrying. This would prevent Jin Mi from experiencing the sorrow of separation from loved ones.
Xu Feng grudgingly agreed to this arrangement. Later, while conversing with Moon Immortal, Immortal Jiyuan expressed her dilemma of not wanting to offend either Xu Feng or the Heavenly Empress. She revealed her clever "two-pronged strategy": she would arrange the most tragic and solitary fate within the Saint Doctor Family for Jin Mi. This, she believed, would satisfy the Heavenly Empress's desire for Jin Mi's suffering while also reassuring Xu Feng that Jin Mi would be shielded from romantic entanglements.
Moon Immortal, for his part, also prepared his red rope, intending to subtly aid Jin Mi and Xu Feng's destiny. Before her descent, Jin Mi tried to comfort Shui Shen and Wind God, remarking that the seven mortal sorrows were far simpler than the "81 difficulties" of cultivation. Shui Shen found solace in the belief that the trials could resolve her celestial tribulations and strengthen her divine essence.
Run Yu also declared his intention to descend to the mortal realm, promising to accompany Jin Mi through her human life. Jin Mi visited Liao Ting, one of Xu Feng's subordinates, in the Phoenix Palace to say goodbye. She expressed her continued affection for her former palace family, including Fei Xu and Xu Feng.
She buried a jar of osmanthus wine she had brewed, asking Liao Ting to tell Xu Feng about it if he returned before her, confident Xu Feng would wait for her to drink it together. Meanwhile, Xu Feng's subordinate reported that the Demon Realm's internal territorial disputes had subsided, with no current threat to the Heaven Realm. Recalling that it was Jin Mi's day to descend, Xu Feng hurried back to the Heavenly Palace.
However, just as he returned, a subordinate reported seeing a shadowy figure enter the Heavenly Empress's Zifang Cloud Palace. Following the trail, Xu Feng overheard the Heavenly Empress plotting to kill Jin Mi in the mortal realm. Panicked, he rushed to the Heavenly Gate but was stopped by heavenly soldiers due to the curfew. Moon Immortal appeared, lamenting Xu Feng's tardiness, as Jin Mi had already descended.
As Jin Mi disappeared into the mortal realm, Xu Feng leaped after her, defying heavenly laws. Sui He, witnessing Xu Feng's leap, followed suit. Moon Immortal, seeing the chaos, quickly pushed Liaoyuan Jun after them, instructing him to look after Xu Feng. The Heavenly Empress, informed of Xu Feng's actions, smirked, believing he was foolishly entering the Wheel of Destiny to compete with her, a move she thought would render him unable to return.
She also made arrangements for Sui He, summoning Immortal Jiyuan to ensure Sui He would be granted a mortal fate of great wealth, beauty, and renown, allowing her to be cherished and live a smooth life with Xu Feng. In the mortal realm, Jin Mi was born an orphan, abandoned by her parents but rescued and raised by the Saint Doctor Family. She grew up to become the Saint Girl, albeit one plagued by constant misfortune.
Her childhood friend, Qiang Huo (formerly the flower spirit Rou Rou), often accompanied her. At the same time, Xu Feng was born as King Yi, a revered general famed for his military prowess, and was soon to be engaged to Princess Nan Ping, who was Sui He in her mortal form. The Heavenly Emperor sent Immortal Jiyuan to observe Jin Mi in the mortal realm, emphasizing the importance of non-interference.
When visiting the Flower Realm, Immortal Jiyuan confirmed that Jin Mi, despite minor setbacks, was safe and content in the reclusive Saint Doctor Family. Wind God worried about Jin Mi's nonchalant nature and suggested going to the mortal realm to protect her, but Immortal Jiyuan advised against it to avoid interfering with the trial. Run Yu then volunteered to be the eyes of the Flower Realm, vowing to protect Jin Mi.
Meanwhile, the Heavenly Empress secretly tasked her attendant, Qiyuan, with restoring Sui He's memories and facilitating her relationship with King Yi. Qiyuan also revealed that the Heavenly Emperor's use of Immortal Jiyuan for constant surveillance had so far prevented Qiyuan himself from making a move against Jin Mi. The Heavenly Empress, expressing concern for Xu Feng's hardships as King Yi, was reassured by Immortal Jiyuan that his divine status would ensure his success.
However, upon hearing that Jin Mi's trials currently involved merely "identifying flowers and herbs," the Heavenly Empress grew furious. She reminded Immortal Jiyuan of her power and demanded Jin Mi experience true "heartbreaking suffering," threatening dire consequences if she failed to comply. Intimidated, Immortal Jiyuan promised to follow her instructions. One day, Jin Mi prepared to go to Luoye Mountain to collect rare medicinal herbs. However, her Auntie, exasperated by Qiang Huo's impulsive behavior, ordered her to stay behind.
Jin Mi, whose life as the Saint Girl was tied to King Yi's well-being—as she would be buried with him if he died—urgently wished for him to have a long life. She rationalized her solo journey to her Auntie, emphasizing her familiarity with the mountains. Meanwhile, King Yi decided to go hunting without his general Qin Tong. He was unexpectedly ambushed by men from Liangguo. Despite his valiant efforts, he was eventually left wounded and alone, calling for help. Moon Immortal, observing from the celestial realm, noted that Xu Feng had truly become a mortal.
