Lin Fengzi arrived at the Enlightenment Temple with Yuan Shuangshuang, who questioned why Lin Fengzi didn't harbor any resentment despite all the wrongdoings she had committed. Lin Fengzi sincerely explained that ever since her mother's passing, Yuan Shuangshuang had been the one looking after her, and for that, she was willing to let go of past grievances.

Despite Lin Fengzi's earnestness, Yuan Shuangshuang still refused to enter the temple, so Lin Fengzi left her outside and went inside to pray for her. Meanwhile, Zhong Xuezhi and Yuwen Muyuan were also at the temple. They wrote their wishes on paper for the Hall of Flames to be unsealed and restored to its former glory. Zhong Xuezhi drew a marriage lot that turned out to be inauspicious. She then asked the master for a character reading, writing "Deng" (ç‰).

The master discerned that Zhong Xuezhi's concerns revolved around official matters or a person of official status. He advised her to release her burdens, for only then could everything find peace. Zhong Xuezhi reflected on how she had "suffered enough from waiting." Yuwen Muyuan assured her that he would support her no matter what she decided—whether to live in seclusion or reclaim the Hall of Flames.

Zhong Xuezhi thanked him, then shared her wish for a new, peaceful home, hoping her sorrows and regrets would be taken away. Yuwen Muyuan silently wished for a chance to win her heart and give her that home. Later, as they released sky lanterns together, Yuwen Muyuan confessed his love and proposed marriage. Zhong Xuezhi did not explicitly accept but did not refuse, and Yuwen Muyuan, interpreting her silence as consent, embraced her tightly.

Later, Zhong Xuezhi encountered Yuan Shuangshuang, who guiltily apologized for ruining everything. Zhong Xuezhi, still resentful, refused to forgive her, stating that her actions had led to the Hall of Flames' downfall and the ruin of its people. Yuan Shuangshuang, remorseful, revealed that her schemes against Shangguan Tou and Lin Fengzi were fabricated. She had drugged Shangguan Tou's wine and lied to Lin Fengzi's father to frame him, all to steal the Lotus God Nine Styles.

She also admitted to causing misunderstandings between Zhong Xuezhi and Shangguan Tou. Yuan Shuangshuang then revealed the shocking truth: when Zhong Xuezhi was captured by the Huashan Sect, it was Shangguan Tou who risked his life to rescue her, enduring severe beatings and even attempting to commit suicide to save her. Zhong Xuezhi was stunned, having believed it was Yuwen Muyuan who rescued her.

Back in their temporary lodging, Zhong Xuezhi confronted Yuwen Muyuan, who admitted that Yuan Shuangshuang's account was true. Shangguan Tou had indeed saved her and entrusted her to his care. Yuwen Muyuan confessed to selfishly concealing the truth, hoping that with time, Zhong Xuezhi would forget Shangguan Tou and fall in love with him. He apologized for his deception. Zhong Xuezhi tearfully told Yuwen Muyuan that her heart belonged only to Shangguan Tou.

She had tried to deceive herself into forgetting him but couldn't, especially now that she knew he still loved her and had never given up. She explained that while she deeply valued Yuwen Muyuan as a trusted brother and family, she could not marry him while her heart was with another. Yuwen Muyuan, heartbroken, accepted her decision, acknowledging that while he might hold her physically, he could never truly capture her heart.

He told her to go find Shangguan Tou, stating his only remaining wish was for her happiness and peace. The next morning, Zhong Xuezhi packed her belongings to leave. Yuwen Muyuan, always attentive, prepared her favorite pastries and watched her depart. He told her that if she ever grew weary, hurt, or disillusioned, she could always come back to him.

Meanwhile, Shangguan Xingzhou was imprisoned in the Imperial Prison, accused by Lord Lu of treason for secretly possessing armor and weapons and colluding with Zhong Xuezhi and other martial artists. Despite his protestations of innocence and pleas that his son, Shangguan Tou, was not involved, the interrogator asserted that the evidence was conclusive and threatened both father and son with execution if Shangguan Xingzhou did not confess.

At the same time, Shangguan Zheng, Lord Lu's wife, learned from a doctor that she was pregnant, filling her with joy. She overheard Lord Lu discussing her father’s impending execution, along with the rest of the Shangguan family aged over sixteen, and the confiscation of their assets. Shocked, Shangguan Zheng demanded an explanation, questioning how her loyal father could be accused of rebellion.

Lord Lu, feigning concern, ordered an investigation into who might have framed Shangguan Xingzhou, but Shangguan Zheng pressed him for the date of her father's execution. As Shangguan Tou remained in hiding, his aide, Wuming, warned him that their current location, the Fortune Tavern, was compromised and Imperial Guards were closing in. Shangguan Tou, however, insisted on finding a way to clear his father's name. As the guards surrounded the tavern, Wuming created a diversion, allowing Shangguan Tou to escape.

Shortly after, Shangguan Tou was intercepted by guards who introduced themselves as the Crown Prince's personal retinue. They escorted him to a safe house, where he met the Crown Prince. The Crown Prince expressed his admiration for Shangguan Tou's talent and his reluctance to see him unjustly executed. He also stated his desire to uncover the truth behind Shangguan Xingzhou's alleged rebellion, as the Imperial Advisor had been a key supporter.

Shangguan Tou vehemently asserted his father’s unwavering loyalty to the Emperor and the people, vowing to prove his innocence despite the Crown Prince mentioning the discovery of weapons and armor from the Hall of Flames in their mansion.
