During Chinese class, Ms. Liu announced that the class president position was vacant because Zhang Beibei had transferred schools. Ms. Liu initially suggested Jiang Chen for the role, but he declined, stating, "Teacher, I don't think I'll fit. Maybe another person." Other students then eagerly volunteered, prompting Ms. Liu to suggest a democratic election by vote. Chen Xiaoxi, initially uninterested in the position, changed her mind after Lin Jingxiao saw Jiang Chen wiping the blackboard while having a cold.
Lin Jingxiao playfully remarked, "He's having a cold. It'll get worse if he breathes in dust." She then exaggeratedly advised Chen Xiaoxi, "If you really feel bad for him, go run for class president. I am the king of the class, and I order no more cleaning of the board for Jiang Chen." Before he could finish, Wu Bosong slammed his chopsticks down and glared at Lu Yang, who immediately backed down, stammering, "It's you. Sure." Later during the class meeting, Chen Xiaoxi, driven by her competitive spirit and concern for Jiang Chen, raised her hand to run for class president.

Or you might as well request asylum." Lin Jingxiao encouraged her to persist, believing it would "create sparks" between her and Jiang Chen. Chen Xiaoxi poured all her energy into preparing her election speech, practicing constantly at home and school.
On the sports field, Wu Bosong found her struggling and offered help. He advised her to leverage her sincerity, telling her, "Even if you're a nobody, you will work and will be a qualified class president," and encouraged her to say aloud what she wanted most. Chen Xiaoxi then confidently declared, "I want to be the class president!" Chen Xiaoxi later asked Jiang Chen if he would vote for her, and he responded with "What do you think?"
which she interpreted as an affirmative. During the class president election, Chen Xiaoxi delivered a heartfelt speech, acknowledging, "I am not the one with the highest grades, nor the most disciplined, but. . . Just as Ms. Liu was about to announce the winner, Chen Xiaoxi paused, noting Jiang Chen's absence. As Jiang Chen returned with a stack of exercise books, Ms. Liu asked him for his vote, and he cast it for Li Wei. This resulted in a tie, with both Chen Xiaoxi and Li Wei having 15 votes. Ms. Liu then declared them probationary class presidents for a week, with another election scheduled for the following Friday.
She assigned them to collect the class activity fee. After the election, Li Wei approached Jiang Chen to thank him for his vote. When he declined the breakfast she offered, stating he had already eaten, she insisted he take it for dessert. Meanwhile, Li Wei and another student taunted Chen Xiaoxi, implying she was overestimating herself. Jiang Chen replied, "She doesn't fit for the position." Chen Xiaoxi chased after him, asking, "How come I don't fit for it?" Jiang Chen reiterated, "You just don't," adding that Li Wei was "better than you." In a fit of anger, Chen Xiaoxi kicked Jiang Chen. When Lin Jingxiao heard about it, she was amused, calling Chen Xiaoxi a "soup dumpling that can spray people if poked hard," but Chen Xiaoxi was worried, asking, "Will he be mad at me?
Should I apologize to him?" As a probationary class president, Chen Xiaoxi found it difficult to approach Jiang Chen to collect the class fee after kicking him. Dr. Li, however, saw through his act but still gave him a bag of brown sugar for a girl's stomachache. Despondent, Chen Xiaoxi sat on the stairs. Wu Bosong approached, gave her the brown sugar, and left. Moments later, Jiang Chen appeared and directly asked her, "You lost the activity fee?" Chen Xiaoxi initially denied it, but then admitted, "I did. Help me." She pleaded for his assistance, and he helped her retrace her steps, prompting her to remember, "Right!
I put it in my exercise book! Which was collected by Mr. Liu Qingshan." During self-study class, Chen Xiaoxi feigned a stomachache again and secretly went to Ms. Liu's office to retrieve her exercise book. Meanwhile, Wu Bosong, thinking the brown sugar hadn't worked, slipped out to a pharmacy to buy more medicine for her. Lin Jingxiao and Lu Yang also went to the monitoring room to look for clues.

She then bravely offered to resign from her position.
Ms. Liu praised Chen Xiaoxi's courage in admitting her mistake, reflecting on her election speech about confronting challenges and showing tolerance. After school, Chen Xiaoxi walked home with Jiang Chen and told him, "You were right. I don't fit for a president." To her surprise, Jiang Chen replied, "But actually you were a good one."
