Chen Xiaoxi tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep after Jiang Chen’s passionate kiss. She worried about what the kiss meant, given their breakup and his supposed girlfriend, Zhuang Dongna. The next morning, on the bus, Chen Xiaoxi finally gathered her courage and called Jiang Chen. Without waiting for a response, she immediately launched into a furious tirade, accusing him of being immoral for kissing her while having a girlfriend. " You have a girlfriend.
You're making me a mistress by a kiss. I don't want to be 'the other woman!' " she declared. After her lengthy outburst, she realized the person on the other end was not Jiang Chen, but Dr. Su Mu. Dr. Su Mu explained that she had answered Jiang Chen's phone after it rang for a long time, displaying Chen Xiaoxi's name. She added that Chen Xiaoxi hadn't paused, giving her no chance to speak.
Mortified, Chen Xiaoxi quickly hung up and fled the bus, feeling the strange stares of the other passengers. Later that day, Chen Xiaoxi tried to contact Zhuang Dongna, who texted back saying she was on a business trip. However, when Chen Xiaoxi visited Dr. Su Mu's office to inquire about her father's discharge, she surprisingly found Zhuang Dongna there.
Chen Xiaoxi demanded an explanation, and Dr. Su Mu revealed that Zhuang Dongna was her patient and merely a "fake girlfriend" Jiang Chen had hired. When Chen Xiaoxi expressed her shock, Dr. Su Mu further clarified that Jiang Chen wanted to know if Chen Xiaoxi still loved him, and she had suggested jealousy was the best test.
Dr. Su Mu then made a dark joke about Jiang Chen’s stomach problems being caused by him eating sleeping pills, quickly adding, "Just kidding! You can't understand my humor." Chen Xiaoxi then went to a bridal shop to accompany Lin Jingxiao, who was trying on wedding dresses.
As she watched her best friend, who had been with Lu Yang since high school, finally getting married, Chen Xiaoxi felt a mix of admiration and melancholy, wondering about her own future with Jiang Chen. It was noted by hospital staff that Jiang Chen had developed a habit of unconsciously signing "Chen Xiaoxi" on hospital bills. In Jiang Chen’s office, Chen Xiaoxi watched him pick through his food, noting that he hadn't changed his picky eating habits. Yet, the three years apart weighed heavily between them. She finally confronted him, saying, "I feel that you've never changed. I don't know why you are being untruthful. You always act this way.
You always let others to guess what you are thinking." She continued, "You kissed me last night. Also, you let Zhuang Dongna to pretend your girlfriend. I don't care about them anymore. Because I don't want to guess your thought anymore, seriously." As she turned to leave, Jiang Chen stopped her, wanting to clarify the past. He explained that on the day they broke up, "my first patient died during the surgery."
Chen Xiaoxi shared her own difficult experience from that day, recounting how she was nearly exploited by a housing agent and then heard he was going to Beijing, which fueled her anger. Jiang Chen then confessed, "Actually I didn't decide to go to Beijing initially. I regret several days later. I bought the air ticket and back here. But I saw you and Wu Bosong hugged together at the airport," implying he thought she had moved on.
Chen Xiaoxi retorted, "So you thought that I was in love with Wu Bosong as soon as you left." Jiang Chen started to object, "I don't mean that. What I want to say is. . ." but Chen Xiaoxi cut him off, saying, "Doesn't matter. We are about to be together anyway. Stop making angry statements to me."
Before he could fully explain, he received an urgent call from the emergency room and had to leave, instructing Chen Xiaoxi to wait for him. Left alone in his office, Chen Xiaoxi accidentally fell off a chair, hitting her head. Feeling dizzy and disoriented, she stumbled out, desperately trying to find Jiang Chen in the emergency room. A nurse stopped her, stating that Dr. Jiang was making rounds.
Chen Xiaoxi, tears in her eyes, collapsed by the door, dimly seeing Jiang Chen rush towards her from a distance. He quickly took her into his arms, checking her head with trembling hands and repeatedly calling her name. The usually calm and composed Dr. Jiang appeared visibly panicked, surprising the nurses present. But Jiang Chen firmly reiterated, "Chen Xiaoxi, we will finally be together."
As she tried to object, he gently laid her back on the bed, leaned down to kiss her lips, and quietly told her not to get too excited due to her concussion, advising her to rest. Soon after, Chen Xiaoxi drifted off to sleep. She was later awakened by the pained shouts of a nearby patient. This patient, initially rude to Chen Xiaoxi, quickly changed his tone after Jiang Chen subtly aggravated his wound while tending to it.
The patient then complimented Chen Xiaoxi, asking Jiang Chen, "Doctor, is she your girlfriend? Pretty good. She is cute." This made Chen Xiaoxi smile. On the day of Lin Jingxiao and Lu Yang's wedding, Chen Xiaoxi, serving as a bridesmaid, realized she had carelessly left the bridal bouquet at her office.
As she retrieved it and left the building, she was startled to see both Jiang Chen and Wu Bosong waiting for her, both impeccably dressed in suits and wearing similar confident smiles. After a momentary glance at Jiang Chen, Chen Xiaoxi chose to get into Wu Bosong's car, leaving Jiang Chen to vent his frustration by kicking his own vehicle. Li Wei, while advising Chen Xiaoxi to marry Jiang Chen soon, recounted a story from their high school campfire party. She revealed how she had confessed her feelings to Jiang Chen, only for him to declare, "I love Chen Xiaoxi." Chen Xiaoxi, however, responded, "We are not suitable to each other. Actually we have broken up long time ago." Lin Jingxiao and Lu Yang finally exchanged their wedding vows. Lin Jingxiao tenderly recalled how Lu Yang had sent love letters to every girl in their school except her, yet gave her a star and dyed his hair for her.
Despite his "noisy and annoying" antics and occasional failures to fulfill promises, she acknowledged that "in this world only he loves Lin Jingxiao the most." She then likened their story to Rosetta finally finding Philae in the vast universe, and how finding Lu Yang made her world more colorful. Lu Yang, in turn, affectionately responded, "Lin Jingxiao, you're welcome. Lin Jingxiao, I love you."
During the ring exchange, Lu Yang momentarily misplaced the rings, briefly thinking he had given them to Wu Bosong. As Chen Xiaoxi helped him search, she unexpectedly found a pair of rings in Wu Bosong's pocket, subtly hinting at his own intentions to propose. However, Lu Yang quickly located his own rings, deflecting the attention. Later, as Lin Jingxiao tossed her bridal bouquet, Chen Xiaoxi stumbled while trying to catch it. Both Jiang Chen and Wu Bosong instinctively reached out, their hands simultaneously landing on her waist, leaving the question of who her true destined one would be, still unanswered.
