Jiang Chen watched her from behind, feeling uncomfortable. After Wu Baisong escorted Chen Xiaoxi home, Jiang Chen followed unhurriedly. After seeing Chen Xiaoxi enter her door, Wu Baisong confronted Jiang Chen, confessing, "I love Chen Xiaoxi. I also know that Chen Xiaoxi loves you." Jiang Chen responded indifferently, "It's good that you know."
Wu Baisong asserted, "She won't love you in the future." Jiang Chen challenged him, "Then you can give it a try." That night, Chen Xiaoxi was utterly heartbroken, truly sad, and tore up the comic books she had drawn of Jiang Chen. Meanwhile, Jiang Chen found himself restless and sleepless. It was the first time he saw Chen Xiaoxi so upset, leaving him at a loss.
He picked up his phone, typing "Chen Xiaoxi" into a message draft, but couldn't find the right words to send. His room light remained on throughout the night. The next morning, Jiang Chen overslept, a rarity for him. Downstairs, Chen Xiaoxi saw his car was still parked outside and paused for a moment. As Jiang Chen emerged, he called out, "Hey!" expecting her to wait.
However, Chen Xiaoxi ignored him, cycling away, leaving his voice to fade into the cool morning air. In the classroom, Li Wei, while distributing test papers, intentionally placed Chen Xiaoxi's paper behind Jiang Chen's, and made sure to announce that Jiang Chen was "the No.1 of the class again this time," displaying his score of 147 points. Chen Xiaoxi, seeing her own math score of 64 points, irritably stuffed it into her drawer.
Noticing Chen Xiaoxi's mood, Lu Yang, hoping to create an opportunity for Chen Xiaoxi and Jiang Chen, proposed, "Or how about begging Jiang Chen and Jingjing to give us extra help sessions?" Lin Jingxiao suspected, "Li Wei has made trouble again, right?" but Chen Xiaoxi denied it. Upon seeing Jiang Chen and Lu Yang enter the supermarket, Chen Xiaoxi immediately tried to leave. The cashier stopped her, reminding her, "Student, you haven't paid for the potato chips." Chen Xiaoxi declared, "I don't want it anymore," and rushed out. Jiang Chen, seeing the torn bag of chips, told the cashier, "I'll buy it."
Outside, Lin Jingxiao tried to console a tearful Chen Xiaoxi, saying, "Don't just cry, you." Chen Xiaoxi confided, "He really doesn't like me. He already has someone he likes. Following Lu Yang's advice, Jiang Chen brought a bag of snacks and quietly placed them on Chen Xiaoxi's desk while she was napping. She stressed that their grades in main examinations were crucial, especially with the upcoming mid-term exam. Ms. Liu specifically addressed Li Wei, noting, "Your grades haven't been very stable lately. Last time you dropped out of the top ten in the school ranking. This isn't your level." Jiang Chen, approaching the scene, told Li Wei, "Go back to the classroom," which Chen Xiaoxi perceived as him protecting Li Wei, making her feel even more sad. Wu Baisong, determined to help Chen Xiaoxi, surprised his teachers by proactively asking them to explain difficult test questions, stating, "Sir, I'm Wu Bosong. And I'm not insane." Jiang Chen initially denied his intentions, but Lu Yang, believing Jiang Chen secretly felt bad about Chen Xiaoxi's strange behavior, persisted with his plan. Chen Xiaoxi offered to wait for the results, but Wu Baisong insisted, "No need. It's not a big deal." Meanwhile, Jiang Chen had been waiting for Chen Xiaoxi downstairs from her home, enduring a long wait that stretched into the night and through the rain, as his younger brother Jiang Rui observed him "strolling." and after she confirmed she was nearby, he said, "Then that's good." He then asked, "Are you okay?" to which Chen Xiaoxi playfully responded, "I'm okay. Look at you, you're almost worried to cry." Wu Baisong retorted, "Who worries about you? Don't flatter yourself." He ended the call, saying, "Okay, my father is looking for me, bye-bye." Chen Xiaoxi told him to "have a good rest" and "take good care of yourself when you're swimming."
Jiang Chen, overhearing their cheerful conversation, clenched his hand on his umbrella. On the day of the exam, the teacher admonished Jiang Chen for being late and moving slowly. During the exam, Li Wei was caught cheating by the teacher. Director Zhang declared that Li Wei would be disqualified from independent recruitment and receive a serious demerit. Director Zhang wanted to remove Li Wei from school, citing her cheating and depression as potential liabilities. However, Dr. Li Shu argued that Li Wei's condition was "not so serious" and she would recover with proper mood adjustment. Both Dr. Li Shu and Ms. Liu ultimately took responsibility, promising that Li Wei would receive psychological counseling and that they would manage the situation, convincing Director Zhang to let her stay in school.
Chen Xiaoxi saw Jiang Chen on the road and tried to escape, but her father's oversized slippers caused her to twist her ankle and fall.
