While organizing her father’s belongings, Bai Langhua unexpectedly learned her senior sister’s true identity. Now that she had found clues about the jade pendant, she decided to set off immediately for the frontier. Since Han Pu was too young to endure the journey, she entrusted him to Bai Fengxi. Bai Fengxi had planned to send him back to the sect, but Han Pu insisted on staying, so Hei Fengxi instructed Zhongli to take care of him.

The Empyrean Token was part of Dadong’s conspiracy, and the connection to Yu Wuyuan was puzzling. Hei Fengxi would have the Fountain Abode investigate thoroughly and expected answers soon. As for the heavy losses in the battle with Youzhou, both Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi suspected Huang Chao of deliberately provoking a mutual defeat between Qingzhou and Youzhou, predicting that the Lord of Youzhou would soon take the field himself.

Just as they anticipated, the Lord of Youzhou prepared to lead the army personally, with his mind set. Huang Chao did not dissuade him but instead wished him victory and then went to observe the battle with Yu Wuyuan from afar. The Blood Phoenix Formation of Qingzhou remained fierce—unstoppable like the wind, consuming like fire. The Golden Armored Riders had no defense and fell immediately, much to the Lord of Youzhou’s dismay.

One of the four Fengyun Generals, Qi Xu, fought bravely and took down many enemies alone. Surrounded by the Blood Phoenix Formation, the Golden Armored Riders had no way to break through. The outcome was sealed. Huang Chao seized the chance to advise retreat, but the Lord of Youzhou, completely deranged, refused. Bai Fengxi, unable to watch her soldiers die in vain, shot an arrow that pierced his helmet and knocked him from his chariot.

Gravely wounded and mentally broken, the Lord of Youzhou fell into a coma. Hua Chunran knew Huang Chao had allowed the two sides to exhaust each other, but she didn’t pursue it further. After all, they were both shrewd. With no one able to lead Youzhou, Huang Chao openly offered to help Hua Chunran ascend as queen. But first, Huang Chao wanted military authority in Youzhou, promising to lead personally and follow her command.

Hua Chunran understood the implications and, before the entire army, handed over the Tiger Seal, ordering all Golden Armored Riders to obey Huang Chao and help him defeat the Fengyun Riders and restore their honor. In the next battle, Bai Fengxi fought Huang Chao one-on-one. Their duel was fierce. Bai Fengxi accused him of becoming ruthless, using soldiers to test formations even knowing the battle would be lost.

She warned him: if he withdrew now, she would not pursue the matter, but if he insisted on fighting, she would meet him to the end. After a moment of hesitation, Huang Chao ordered a retreat. The Qingzhou generals rejoiced, praising Bai Fengxi’s divine tactics. That night, urgent news came from Yancheng—Zhen Tian Riders had breached the gates. With their numbers exceeding one hundred thousand, the disparity in forces made defending Wuhui nearly impossible.

Hei Fengxi said the Mo Yu Riders were prepared in Liangcheng and that he would summon them personally. He urged Bai Fengxi to be cautious and wait for reinforcements. She gladly agreed and gave him a Yue Lao Talisman, symbolizing their unbroken red thread of fate and shared concern, promising mutual protection. On the front, the Golden Armored Riders faced off with the Fengyun Riders, while the Zhen Tian Riders flanked and took Yancheng, placing Qingzhou in a dire position.

Huang Chao pondered how Qingzhou would respond. Things had gone too smoothly, and the Blood Phoenix Formation remained a threat. Coincidentally, Yu Wuyuan had secretly met with the leader of the Duanhun Sect and obtained a method to break the formation. Still, Huang Chao believed Hei Fengxi had a backup plan. Yu Wuyuan disagreed, convinced Hei Fengxi lacked the military authority to command troops. Lin Ji reported to Bai Fengxi that military supplies were ready.

After reporting, he hesitated and indirectly voiced concern about Hei Fengxi. As the Hereditary Prince of Yongzhou, his state had always been tough. If they won the war, Yongzhou might suppress Qingzhou, deepening their conflict. However, Bai Fengxi believed that if the world could be unified and the people could live in peace, there was no need for Qingzhou’s Feng Clan or Yongzhou’s Feng Clan to dominate. Qingzhou had never aimed for supremacy—it only wanted to protect its people.

Now, with war everywhere and the people suffering, if a wise ruler were to emerge, Bai Fengxi was willing to lead Qingzhou in laying down arms and submitting. She conveyed these thoughts to the Fengyun Riders to share her true intentions. Before the battle, Huang Yu was assigned to stay by Yu Wuyuan’s side on Huang Chao’s orders to look after his sister.

Bai Fengxi led the army into battle but was shocked to find the enemy had already learned how to counter the Blood Phoenix Formation. It was no longer a secret. With their current forces, they could no longer rely on the formation. When Bai Fengxi asked about the Mo Yu Riders, the scouts had no news—they likely wouldn’t arrive in time. Determined, she drew her sword and ordered the troops to charge with her. Meanwhile, Hei Fengxi was racing to the battlefield with the Mo Yu Riders, unaware that Bai Fengxi was already surrounded and completely exhausted.
