Suddenly, he found someone was following him. He immediately jumped off the tram and left, going through a lot of trouble to get rid of the tail. He went directly to Rixin Bookstore and suddenly saw Li Chengda returning in a rickshaw. He quickly hid and left. Wei Ruolai came to the post office and called the police to report Rixin Bookstore for selling banned books related to Soviet Russia, suspecting them of collaborating with Communists.

He then hid to observe the situation. The police rushed to the scene upon hearing the news to seal the bookstore. Li Chengda gave them a few silver dollars and then called the detectives from the investigation team to testify for him. Only then did the police leave. Wei Ruolai personally witnessed Li Chengda colluding with the investigation team and guessed he had betrayed. Wei Ruolai didn't know what to do next.

Huang Congyun went to the school to visit and investigate. He did not find Wei Ruolai collaborating with Communists and immediately reported to Shen Tunan. Xu Nuo set up a fortune-telling stall on the street. Shen Jinzhen came to meet him. Xu Nuo found out that Wei Ruochuan had sacrificed and that he was Wei Ruolai's older brother. Shen Jinzhen was very self-reproachful, feeling that she had not protected Wei Ruochuan well, which led to him being brutally murdered.

Xu Nuo personally saw Li Chengda using a ruse to gain Wei Ruolai's trust. Wei Ruolai was preparing to hand over the gold bars left by Wei Ruochuan to Li Chengda. Xu Nuo wanted to personally go and stop Wei Ruolai. He reminded Shen Jinzhen to be careful everywhere so as not to be discovered by Lin Qiaosong. Li Chengda was flattered. Wei Ruolai didn't know what to do next. He called A Wen to the riverside and told him about the twenty gold bars left by Wei Ruochuan and Li Chengda's betrayal. Wei Ruolai suspected Li Chengda wanted to take the gold bars for himself. A Wen thought for a moment, took out an iron rod from the car, and left.
