Wei Ruolai and Shen Jinzhen were ordered to go to Ganzhou to find Guangdong Army Brigade Commander Qian Fengshi. Lin Qiaosong soon learned of this and immediately reported to Shen Tunan. Shen Tunan guessed they came for the salt in the Soviet Area and sent Lin Qiaosong to keep a close eye on every move of Wei Ruolai and Shen Jinzhen. He told him not to show mercy just because Shen Jinzhen was his biological sister.

He also reminded Lin Qiaosong to be extra careful, as Shen Jinzhen had strong anti-tracking abilities. Lin Qiaosong sent most of his men to keep a close watch on Qian Fengshi, so he wasn't worried about not catching Wei Ruolai and Shen Jinzhen. Yan Youmin, the head steward of Guangdong Army Commander-in-Chief Chen Jitang, called to urge Qian Fengshi to sort out the accounts for Ganzhou this month and submit the money as soon as possible.

Qian Fengshi had no choice but to talk about Shen Tunan forcibly occupying Sanjiangkou. Yan Youmin didn't listen at all and forced him to hand over the money within a month, or else go back to his hometown in Jiangmen for retirement. Qian Fengshi was so anxious he didn't know what to do. Wei Ruolai and Shen Jinzhen disguised themselves and came to Ganzhou. They passed through the city gate checkpoint smoothly and entered the city, then split up.

Shen Jinzhen went to find Shen Tunan's new codebook. Wei Ruolai disguised himself as a fortune teller and stopped Qian Fengshi's car, immediately pointing out the trouble Qian Fengshi had recently encountered. Qian Fengshi, upon learning that he was from Ruijin, invited him to the military camp for a private talk. Shen Tunan sent Huang Congyun to follow Wei Ruolai and Shen Jinzhen, but Huang Congyun quickly lost track of them.

He had no choice but to go back and report to Shen Tunan. Wei Ruolai got straight to the point and explained his purpose, asking Qian Fengshi for help in providing salt to the Soviet Area. Qian Fengshi flatly refused and even drew his gun. Wei Ruolai then analyzed the current severe situation for him: Chiang Kai-shek and Guangdong Army Commander-in-Chief Chen Jitang were vying for power.

Shen Tunan was a special envoy appointed by Chiang Kai-shek, and he had evidence of Qian Fengshi doing business with the Soviet Area. Although Qian Fengshi was Chen Jitang's favorite general, if he couldn't submit the money to Chen Jitang in time, Chen Jitang would make him a scapegoat.

Qian Fengshi weighed the pros and cons and agreed to help the Soviet Area solve the salt shortage problem, but Shen Tunan was using a new codebook, which Wei Ruolai would find a way to get. Shen Jinzhen quietly came to the hospital to see Xiaoyuer. From a distance, she saw Shen Tunan standing at the door of the ward. His headache suddenly flared up, so he had to leave temporarily.

Shen Tunan, hearing from outside that Su Cishu had sent Shen Jinzhen away, only then opened the door and entered the house. Shen Jinzhen came to the agreed location to meet Wei Ruolai, asking him to give the new code to Qian Fengshi as soon as possible, so that Qian Fengshi could transport the salt to the Soviet Area quickly.

Xiaoyuer felt that Shen Tunan was like the 'yang gu' and that his killing of Xiao Yun's father was also to eliminate harm for the people. Shen Tunan finally gained Xiaoyuer's understanding and forgiveness, and he was so moved he couldn't speak.

Shen Tunan sent Huang Congyun to send a telegram to the Soviet Area, reminding them not to consume this batch of salt mixed with arsenic. Lei Ming received Shen Tunan's telegram and immediately sealed the batch of salt. Some people suspected this was a smokescreen deliberately set by Shen Tunan, but Wei Ruolai believed Shen Tunan wouldn't lie.

Shen Tunan reported Lin Qiaosong's poisoning incident to Mingda, saying he didn't want to harm the common people, as it would lose public support. Mingda also did not hold him accountable. Lin Qiaosong, upon learning that Shen Tunan had informed the Soviet Area, came directly to confront Shen Tunan. Huang Congyun stepped forward to defend Shen Tunan, mocking Lin Qiaosong sarcastically. Lin Qiaosong was enraged and rushed forward to hit Huang Congyun. Shen Tunan loudly stopped him.

Wei Ruolai found out that one jin of highly pure arsenic was mixed into that batch of salt, all done with bayonets. Kong Lingzheng concluded that Qian Fengshi was behind it, but Wei Ruolai didn't understand Qian Fengshi's intention in doing this. Lei Ming told Wei Ruolai to investigate the matter slowly. The organization sent people to transport an Eagle Dollar machine from Shanghai to Yudu. Song Shoutian volunteered to transport the Eagle Dollar machine to the printing plant.

Kong Lingzheng asked Niu Chunmiao to cooperate with Song Shoutian. Lin Qiaosong arrested Qian Fengshi on the charge of collaborating with the Communists. Qian Fengshi ignored him and then left by car. Lin Qiaosong sent people to ambush him ahead and shot Qian Fengshi dead. Shen Tunan distributed all the money Qian Fengshi had embezzled to the soldiers of the Guangdong Army. They queued up to receive the money. Song Shoutian and Niu Chunmiao brought the Eagle Dollar machine back.

One of the bearings malfunctioned. Shen Jinzhen fixed it overnight without even stopping to eat. Song Shoutian secretly damaged the machine when no one was paying attention, but was caught red-handed by Wei Ruolai and Shen Jinzhen. They had long suspected something was wrong with Song Shoutian. Song Shoutian confessed everything truthfully. To save his sister Song Meijuan, he was forced to become Lin Qiaosong's informant. Wei Ruolai advised him to make amends by rendering meritorious service.
