Su Cishu and Shen Jinzhen rushed to the hospital. Wei Ruolai, Deng Ze, Huang Congyun, and others were outside the emergency room. The medical staff did their best to rescue him, and Shen Tunan finally turned the corner and was out of danger. He was still in a coma due to excessive blood loss. The doctor suggested a blood transfusion. Shen Jinzhen voluntarily offered to donate blood for him.

Huang Congyun advised him not to gamble with his life again. Shen Tunan told him to keep this matter a secret from Wei Ruolai. He felt it wasn't secure enough and wanted to reclaim the customs tariff custody right as soon as possible, preferably by having Chiang Kai-shek personally finalize the matter at this time. Shen Tunan asked Huang Congyun to find a way to make this incident widely known.

Huang Congyun immediately went to contact the "Nanjing Daily" to report on Shen Tunan being attacked. Wei Ruolai and Shen Jinzhen came to visit Shen Tunan. When Zhang Mingquan heard that the assassin had been arrested, he worried about being implicated and immediately went to Yu Shiqing for help. Yu Shiqing knew that assassinating Shen Tunan would anger the Nanjing government, so he did his best to distance himself from Zhang Mingquan and told him to look out for himself. Zhang Mingquan was so scared he knelt down and begged for mercy. Yu Shiqing suggested that he bribe the assassin.

Shen Jinzhen invited a violinist to add atmosphere. She and Wei Ruolai drank and talked, finding the conversation increasingly stimulating. Li Chengda had a rare right ventricular injury. He survived after being shot, but was in a deep coma due to excessive blood loss. When Lin Qiaosong heard about this, he rushed to the ward immediately. He suspected that Li Chengda was faking his coma, so he burned his arm with a cigarette butt. Li Chengda did not move.

Lin Qiaosong asked the doctor to save Li Chengda at all costs. After the meal, Shen Jinzhen played a "Requiem".
