The Untamed Episode 14 Recap
> The Untamed Recap
Lan Wangji stirred awake, and Wei Wuxian informed him that he had explored the bottom of the pond, discovering the monstrous turtle was incredibly intelligent, detecting anyone lingering for longer than the time it took for a joss stick to burn. Wei Wuxian admitted he hadn't located the exit Jiang Cheng mentioned, fearing the monster might have already blocked it. He concluded they were likely in for another battle with the beast.
Lan Wangji then recalled something Senior Lan Yi had mentioned previously, speculating that the creature they faced was the Slaughter Xuanwu, an ancient mythical beast controlled by Xue Chonghai centuries ago. Far from being afraid, Wei Wuxian expressed excitement at the prospect of slaying such an ancient beast, believing it would earn them both chivalric renown. To confront the Slaughter Xuanwu, they formulated a plan.
Wei Wuxian would stealthily infiltrate the monster's massive shell to locate its weak point, forcing it to emerge. Once the creature was outside its formidable shell, Lan Wangji, despite his leg injury, would unleash his Killer-String technique for a decisive battle. Inside the shell, Wei Wuxian was overwhelmed by the stench. He navigated through the grotesque remains of numerous victims, noting that the monster not only consumed their flesh but also their spiritual cognition.
He also discovered a rusty, ancient sword, heavy with resentful energy, which seemed to be the very object trapping the Slaughter Xuanwu in the pond. As Wei Wuxian gripped the sword, the Slaughter Xuanwu was roused and attacked violently. After a fierce struggle, Wei Wuxian managed to pierce the monster's lower jaw with the ancient sword, finally drawing it out of its shell. Lan Wangji seized the moment to unleash his Killer-String.
Wei Wuxian clung tightly to the sword as black, resentful energy surged from it. After a moment of discomfort, he was visibly overcome by its influence, and with a powerful wave of his hand, he commanded countless scattered swords on the shore to rise and impale the Xuanwu's neck. Together, they successfully slew the formidable beast. After the intense fight, Wei Wuxian collapsed, falling weakly into the water. Lan Wangji quickly pulled him ashore and tried to rouse him.
When Wei Wuxian finally stirred, he claimed to have been overwhelmed by piercing screams in his ears, which had caused him to faint. Lan Wangji observed that Wei Wuxian had a fever and transferred spiritual power to him. Wei Wuxian, delirious, murmured for Lan Wangji to sing him a song. Lan Wangji complied, humming a melody that Wei Wuxian found incredibly beautiful before he drifted into unconsciousness again.
Wei Wuxian eventually awoke outside the cave on a grassy patch, finding Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan beside him. He learned that Lan Wangji had already returned to Gusu due to the disarray in his own clan. Jiang Cheng explained that Wei Wuxian had been unconscious for seven days and seven nights.
Since Jiang Cheng lacked his sword and couldn't fly back to Yunmeng for reinforcements, it was Jin Zixuan who had persuaded Clan Leader Jin to rally other clans against the Wen clan, leading to their rescue mission. Wei Wuxian expressed his gratitude to Jin Zixuan, acknowledging his sense of responsibility. Unnoticed by others, Wei Wuxian carried with him the rusty, resentful sword he had found within the Slaughter Xuanwu.
Meanwhile, in Qishan, Wen Ruohan instructed Wen Chao to have his brother, Wen Xu, find Xue Yang and the final Yin Iron shard, as well as investigate anyone connected to Xue Yang in Yueyang and Qinghe. Wen Chao soon received news that Jin Zixuan had led a group into Mount Muxi, making him suspect that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had survived.
He dispatched subordinates to investigate the cave and ordered Wen Zhuliu and Wang Lingjiao to travel to Yunmeng Lotus Cove. Back in Lotus Cove, Wei Wuxian, still weak, collapsed again. Jiang Yanli devotedly nursed him back to health, preparing her comforting lotus root and rib soup. Jiang Fengmian showed great concern for Wei Wuxian, while being notably strict with Jiang Cheng.
Yu Ziyuan appeared, her words laced with sarcasm, commenting on the widespread rumors that Jiang Fengmian's long-standing affection for Wei Wuxian's mother, Cangse Sanren, was why he doted on her son, even to the point of speculation that Wei Wuxian might be Jiang Fengmian's own child. Jiang Fengmian's face darkened with anger, and Jiang Cheng also showed his displeasure.
Wei Wuxian quickly followed Jiang Cheng to reassure him, explaining that Jiang Fengmian's strictness was a sign of his expectations for Jiang Cheng as the future Clan Leader, while his kindness to him stemmed from their parents' friendship. Jiang Cheng, however, still felt inadequate, lamenting that he didn't embody the Jiang clan's motto or the characteristics his father desired in an heir, especially after Wei Wuxian's heroic act.
Wei Wuxian passionately assured Jiang Cheng that he would always support him, promising that just as Gusu had its Twin Jades, Yunmeng would have its "Twin Prides" in them. He vowed to be Jiang Cheng's subordinate and protect him from any slander, even from Jiang Cheng himself.
