Xin Zhishan, upon learning that Yao Zhiming and the Mai family were relatives, sent Chen Dejing to reconcile with them. Chen Dejing did her best to flatter Liu Wanyu and even got Mai Chengzao into her son-in-law Luo Mingshi’s law firm. Unexpectedly, Mai Chengzao was already interning there. Chen Dejing promised to help him become a full-time employee.

Overjoyed, Liu Wanyu vowed to ask Yao Zhiming for the order and gifted Chen Dejing her homemade chili sauce, which the latter threw away right after leaving. Liu Wanyu visited the hotel to see Yao Zhiming, bringing her homemade smoked fish for him to try. She explained her purpose: asking him to give the hotel order to the Xin family.

When Mai Chenghuan found out, she rushed to the office and dragged Liu Wanyu away, forbidding her from interfering with the bidding. Upon learning that Chen Dejing had approached Liu Wanyu and even brought up Mai Chengzao’s job, Mai Chenghuan was speechless with anger. Mai Chengzao wanted to earn his position at the law firm on his own merit and didn’t want to sacrifice Mai Chenghuan’s marriage for his job. Liu Wanyu yelled at him.

Mai Chenghuan pulled him aside and encouraged him not to care about others’ opinions and just work hard to earn recognition. Lawyer Liu even reassigned fieldwork to someone else and gave him easy office tasks, making him feel awkward. Yao Zhiming transferred Mai Chenghuan to an administrative secretary position. Zhu Zheng and colleagues congratulated her, but she was left confused, while Wu You was jealous. After work, Mai Chengzao went straight to Maomao’s store, where she was overwhelmed with orders. Without a word, he helped her pack and ship them. Yao Zhiming gave the bidding materials to Mai Chenghuan.

She couldn’t understand why she got a promotion and suspected it was related to the Xin family. Yao Zhiming didn’t explain and simply encouraged her to do a good job. Mai Chenghuan delivered an invitation to Xin Zhishan, who was away on a business trip. As she was leaving, she saw Xin Jialiang and confronted him about Chen Dejing trying to use her mother to pull strings.

Xin Jialiang, in a rush for a meeting, brushed it off and left in a hurry. Xin Zhishan’s secretary, Zhu Baoqiao, watched everything from the side and greeted Mai Chenghuan. The two were college classmates, and Mai Chenghuan was surprised to learn Zhu Baoqiao was now Xin Zhishan’s secretary. Zhu Baoqiao revealed that Yao Zhiming used the bidding to edge out Deshan Home, and asked Mai Chenghuan to help the Xin family.

Mai Chenghuan refused to mix work with personal matters and left with an excuse. Zhu Baoqiao gritted her teeth in anger. Mai Chenghuan stayed up late working on the bidding materials. Yao Zhiming advised her to go home and rest early. Early the next morning, Mai Chengzao took the subway to work and ran into Maomao at the station. Worried about him, Mai Chenghuan had asked Maomao to talk to him.

Mai Chengzao poured out all his bottled-up frustrations, and Maomao advised him not to care about workplace gossip. He felt slightly relieved. Chen Dejing suspected that Mai Chenghuan was eyeing their family’s wealth. Xin Jialiang suggested they have Mai Chenghuan sign a prenuptial agreement. Zhu Baoqiao asked Wu You to get the base bidding price of the hotel.

Wu You refused, but after Zhu Baoqiao offered a generous gift and promised to help her improve her housing if successful, Wu You was swayed.
