Liu Wanyu and Mai Laitian gave up their trip and returned home, only to see Mai Chengzao and Mao Mao standing hand in hand as soon as they entered the door. They were all surprised. Mai Chengzao admitted that he was in a relationship with Mao Mao. Contrary to expectations, Liu Wanyu didn’t object; instead, she encouraged Mai Chengzao to help Mao Mao with the lawsuit and fight to win back custody of Ding Ding.

Yao Zhiming drove Mai Chengzao and Mao Mao off. Liu Wanyu locked herself in her room. Mai Chenghuan thought she was angry and repeatedly apologized outside the door. Mai Laitian also chimed in, but Liu Wanyu remained silent. The three of them had no choice but to return to their rooms and rest. Liu Wanyu dug out old photo albums and recalled many funny stories from Mai Chenghuan and Mai Chengzao’s childhood, feeling a swirl of emotions.

Early in the morning, Liu Wanyu prepared a hearty breakfast, left a note, and went out. Mai Chenghuan thought she wasn’t angry anymore and decided the whole family would come home for dinner tonight. The second trial was held today. Mai Chengzao had fully prepared and vowed to win back Ding Ding’s custody. Mao Mao cheered him on. Mai Chengzao received a message from Mai Chenghuan and believed that Liu Wanyu had accepted his relationship with Mao Mao.

Overjoyed, he planned to bring Mao Mao and Ding Ding home for dinner. Mai Chengzao fought the lawsuit with all his strength and finally won custody of Ding Ding. Mao Mao and Mai Chengzao went to pick up Ding Ding and then headed home together for dinner. After work, Mai Chenghuan called Yao Zhiming. Yao Zhiming immediately went to pick up her and Mai Laitian.

Mai Chenghuan, Mai Chengzao, Mao Mao, Ding Ding, Mai Laitian, and Yao Zhiming returned home happily. Seeing the table full of food, they realized Liu Wanyu wasn’t home. Mai Chenghuan couldn’t reach her by phone or text. As night fell, Liu Wanyu still hadn’t returned. Sensing something was wrong, Mai Chenghuan and the others split up to look for her. Yao Zhiming asked He Dong to report to the police.

He noticed that Liu Wanyu had left the house key at home but took the family portrait with her. Suspecting she had run away, Yao Zhiming called Mai Chengzao and Mai Chenghuan to return. A courier delivered a letter from Liu Wanyu, in which she admitted she was ill and wanted to go off on her own for a while. Mai Laitian felt deeply guilty—Liu Wanyu had a serious health issue, yet he knew nothing about it.

Mai Chenghuan comforted him with kind words. Through police inquiry, Yao Zhiming discovered Liu Wanyu had bought a ticket to her hometown in Jixi, Anhui. Mai Chenghuan immediately called Liu Wanyong, who was on a trip in Wuyuan with Qiuqiu. Fang Zhihong called Fang Jie, who stayed home, but Liu Wanyu hadn’t gone to his house. Mai Chengzao guessed she went to the old house in Shangcun. Mai Chenghuan and Yao Zhiming rushed there overnight.

As expected, Liu Wanyu took a taxi to Shangcun right after getting off the train. Liu Wanyu returned to the old house in Shangcun late at night, utterly exhausted. It was her parents’ home and held many fond memories. At the service area, Mai Chenghuan recalled Liu Wanyu’s odd behavior in recent days and regretted not discovering her illness sooner. Yao Zhiming consoled her, telling her not to blame herself. Yao Zhiming and Mai Chenghuan arrived at Shangcun at dawn.

The front door was locked from the inside. Yao Zhiming climbed over the wall to open it. Mai Chenghuan knocked on the bedroom door, scolding Liu Wanyu for leaving without saying anything and urging her to go back for treatment. Liu Wanyu just wanted to be alone. Mai Chenghuan couldn’t persuade her and sat sulking at the front door while Yao Zhiming silently kept her company. Mai Chengzao and Mai Laitian went to the hospital to get Liu Wanyu’s test results. The doctor suspected the shadow might be a tumor and advised her to return soon for further examination.
