Yao Zhiming hurries to the police station to pick up Zhang Ziyu. She’s Zhang Peisheng’s daughter and just started college this year. When Yao Zhiming was abroad, he was her guardian. Feeling bored overseas, she decided to drop out. She just returned to China today and was extorted after doing a good deed. In a rage, she beat up the scammer and cursed him out in front of the police. Yao Zhiming arrives in time to take her away.

Zhang Ziyu wants to go home with him, but Yao Zhiming refuses and sends her to Zhang Peisheng’s house. Zhang Peisheng is furious when he finds out she dropped out. Zhang Ziyu no longer wants to study abroad and is now a popular travel blogger with tens of thousands of followers. Zhang Peisheng is speechless with anger. Yao Zhiming returns home late and sees a small nightlight by the stairs.

He guesses it was from Mai Chenghuan and feels warm inside. He brings the nightlight into his room, wants to thank her by message, but doesn’t want to disturb her, so he posts the nightlight on Moments and sets it so only she can see it. Mai Chenghuan is still awake and immediately replies to his post. The next morning, Liu Wanyu prepares a big breakfast. But Mai Chenghuan, already busy with work, doesn’t have time to eat.

Liu Wanyu is disappointed. Mai Chenghuan signs her up for a culinary class at a senior university and registers a food blogger account for her to share her cooking. Liu Wanyu uses the opportunity to introduce a potential partner, but Mai Chenghuan uses work as an excuse and leaves. Liu Wanyu attends class for a few days but finds it boring and signs up for rock climbing instead. Mai Laitian enjoys gardening in his spare time.

Yao Zhiming wants to learn from him, so Mai Laitian gives him a potted plant and shares his gardening tips. Liu Wanyu’s sister Liu Wanrong and her husband Fang Zhihong arrive in Shanghai with their son Fang Jie and grandson Qiuqiu. Liu Wanrong is warmly welcomed. Seeing Liu Wanyu’s family living in a spacious old house, she feels jealous. Liu Wanyu arranges a luxury suite at Xing'anli for them.

When the front desk asks for a 5000 yuan deposit, Liu Wanyu refuses. Housekeeper Cui can’t decide and has to ask Mai Chenghuan. Mai Chenghuan arranges a satisfactory room and treats them to local Shanghai cuisine, covering all expenses herself. Zhang Ziyu comes to the hotel to see Yao Zhiming and pesters him. Unable to cope, Yao Zhiming sends He Dong to escort her out. He Dong doesn’t want to get involved and quickly finds an excuse to leave.

Zhang Ziyu asks Yao Zhiming to treat her to a meal. He takes her to eat fast food. She bluntly asks him to be her boyfriend. Yao Zhiming repeatedly emphasizes they are just like siblings. Zhang Ziyu had already expected this but is unwilling to give up and believes he’ll accept her eventually. Mai Chenghuan treats Liu Wanrong’s family to a meal. Mai Laitian and Mai Chengzao join them.

Fang Zhihong brings up how he beat Mai Chengzao for allegedly stealing money as a child, with Fang Jie backing him up. Mai Chenghuan refuses to believe it and defends Mai Chengzao. Unwilling to explain, Mai Chengzao quietly leaves. Mai Chenghuan hurries after him and learns the truth: Fang Jie stole the money and let Mai Chengzao take the blame. She wants to go back and clear his name, but Mai Chengzao, not wanting family conflict, chooses to endure.

Mai Chenghuan reluctantly agrees. Fang Zhihong calls his nephew Fang Da, who runs a wedding company and once bid on Xing'anli. Fang Zhihong and Liu Wanrong both pressure Mai Chenghuan to get married and try to set her up with Fang Da. Mai Chenghuan politely declines, saying she’s focused on the hotel and not thinking about marriage. Liu Wanyu is very fond of Fang Da and keeps persuading her. Annoyed, Mai Chenghuan changes the subject.

Zhang Ziyu asks around about Yao Zhiming’s address. Liu Wanyu happens to be returning from the market. Zhang Ziyu claims to be his girlfriend, and Liu Wanyu brings her home and serves her food. After she eats, Liu Wanyu calls Yao Zhiming. He rushes back, repeatedly explains there’s nothing between them, and forcefully kicks Zhang Ziyu out.
