When it rains, it pours. A burst pipe flooded the Mai household. Liu Wanyu had been eagerly awaiting the demolition of their old house, but it fell through again. Distracted while cooking in the kitchen, the rice cooker plug suddenly short-circuited and sparked. Liu Wanyu screamed in fright, and Mai Laitian and Mai Chengzao rushed to help her to her room to rest. Seeing her like this, Mai Chenghuan felt very uneasy.

The house’s wiring was old, and the food in the fridge had gone bad. Mai Chenghuan took her parents and Mai Chengzao out for a meal. Liu Wanyu couldn't stop complaining and said she never wanted to live in the old house again. She urged Mai Chenghuan to get back together with Xin Jialiang and leave that broken place as soon as possible. But Mai Chenghuan and Xin Jialiang’s relationship was beyond repair.

She didn't want to continue with it and agreed to hire a renovation team to fix the old house. Liu Wanyu pressured her relentlessly. The mother and daughter ended up in a fierce quarrel. Liu Wanyu left in a huff without eating. Mai Chenghuan hurried out to apologize repeatedly to Liu Wanyu and said she would find someone to renovate the house as soon as possible. Xin Jialiang wanted to reconcile with Mai Chenghuan, but she firmly refused. He then offered to recommend her for a job, but Mai Chenghuan politely declined.

She wanted to rely on her own abilities and didn’t want to be labeled as someone with connections. Xin Jialiang had no choice but to accept it. Yao Zhiming, watching from afar, was impressed by Mai Chenghuan, and He Dong couldn’t help teasing him. Mai Chenghuan met with the renovation company manager and accidentally saw Mai Chengzao delivering food. He fell off his scooter while riding but endured the pain and delivered the order on time.

Mai Chenghuan helped bandage his wounds. Mai Chengzao confessed he had quit his job and believed he would soon find a new one to help ease her burden. Mai Chenghuan regretted not accepting Xin Jialiang’s job offer but couldn’t bear to see her brother suffer. Mai Chengzao supported her decision. The two of them vowed to work together to change their family’s situation and never let Mai Chenghuan bow her head to Xin Jialiang.

Yao Zhiming visited Chen Dejing at the nursing home and told her about the situation at Mai Chenghuan’s home. He wanted to help but was afraid she wouldn’t accept it. Chen Dejing immediately messaged Mai Chenghuan to ask about it, and she claimed she could handle it. He Dong advised Yao Zhiming to push forward with the Xing’anli project and suggested involving Mai Chenghuan. Yao Zhiming was reluctant to pressure her at this time. Xin Jialiang returned home dejected.

When Xin Jialiang’s sister, Xin Jiali, found out that Mai Chenghuan refused to reconcile, she scolded him harshly. If he couldn't bring Mai Chenghuan to their side, Xin Zhishan would eventually give the family assets to outsiders. In frustration, Xin Jialiang gave his phone to Xin Jiali and told her to apologize to Mai Chenghuan herself. Liu Wanyu received a long message from Xin Jialiang, professing his deep love for Mai Chenghuan and asking her to help persuade her.

He also invited Liu Wanyu to visit their future marital home the next day. Liu Wanyu happily went to meet Xin Jialiang, but it was actually Xin Jiali who had arranged the meeting. Seeing him still sound asleep, she woke him up to go meet Mai Chenghuan. That’s when Xin Jialiang found out Xin Jiali had secretly gone to see Liu Wanyu. He couldn’t help but complain. Though he was eager to reconcile with Mai Chenghuan, he was also worried she wouldn’t come around. Xin Jiali explained the stakes and falsely claimed Liu Wanyu had already convinced Mai Chenghuan to change her mind.

Without telling Mai Chenghuan, Liu Wanyu called her younger brother and sister to Shanghai to attend the engagement banquet between Mai Chenghuan and Xin Jialiang at the Botticelli Hotel.
