Liu Yan visited Yu Qifeng at his mansion, displeased with his recent blunders. He informed Yu Qifeng that if he wished to ensure his own safety, he must carry out a task: kill everyone in the Citadel of Swordsman. Yu Qifeng questioned who he was meant to kill, to which Liu Yan, referred to as His Lordship, emphatically stated, "Everyone."
Following this sinister command, one of Yu Qifeng’s apprentices immediately sought out A Shui to destroy the ledgers she possessed and then set fire to all records in the storeroom. As chaos erupted with flames engulfing the area, Chi Yun bravely stepped forward, attempting to protect A Shui and the crucial ledgers. During the ensuing mayhem, A Shui was seized by a fiend of The Unfettered Guild.
Chi Yun gave chase, only to be confronted by a formidable white-clad figure whose fighting style was eerily familiar. To his astonishment, it was his fiancée, Bai Suche. She openly declared her allegiance to His Lordship, confirming Chi Yun’s suspicion that she had joined The Unfettered Guild. Despite her betrayal, Chi Yun hesitated to strike a fatal blow, leaving him no choice but to watch helplessly as A Shui was taken away.
Upon hearing Chi Yun’s report, Tang Lici deduced that A Shui had been taken to The Unfettered Guild. Recognizing that the unfolding events were part of a larger scheme between him and Liu Yan, Tang Lici instructed Chi Yun and Shen Langhun to remain in the Citadel of Swordsman. Their mission was to keep a close watch on Yu Qifeng and prevent any further disruptions. With his orders given, Tang Lici departed alone for The Unfettered Guild.
A Shui was bound and suspended from a tree by members of The Unfettered Guild. A red fox-like figure taunted her, claiming her beloved would soon come to rescue her. A Shui responded with a bitter smile, asserting that Tang Lici would not come for her, or if he did, it would be solely due to his entanglement with Liu Yan, not for her sake.
To test Tang Lici’s feelings for A Shui, the red fox tightened the ropes around her. The bindings dug deeper, drawing blood that stained her clothes and trickled down her legs. A Shui, in agonizing pain, lost consciousness and appeared to be in mortal danger. Just then, Tang Lici arrived, swiftly cutting the ropes and cradling A Shui in his arms.
The red fox, however, had laid a trap for Tang Lici, ensnaring him in his deepest inner demons, causing him unbearable torment. Within this hallucinatory state, Tang Lici relived the revelation of his birth and saw Fang Zhou, who had cared for him. After learning his true origins, Tang Lici had intended to leave them behind, to avoid further conflict. Yet, Fang Zhou, with warmhearted persistence, always called out to the solitary Tang Lici, drawing him back.
Fang Zhou's actions demonstrated the meaning of sacrifice and faith. When Fang Zhou discovered a multitude of demons threatening the common people, he chose to sacrifice himself for their peace, embodying the essence of righteousness. Meanwhile, Chi Yun and Shen Langhun discovered Yu Qifeng brutally absorbing the vital essence of numerous disciples from the Citadel of Swordsman, acting with utter depravity. They immediately intervened, but Yu Qifeng, now consumed by madness, fought with lethal intent.
Having defeated the red fox, Tang Lici rushed back to assist Chi Yun and Shen Langhun. Witnessing Yu Qifeng, brimming with stolen power and clearly having killed many, Tang Lici lamented that Pu Zhu had trusted him so deeply and gone to great lengths to preserve his life, only for him to turn into such a monster. From a distance, Liu Yan observed the unfolding chaos.
To further complicate matters for Tang Lici, he deliberately shattered the Tianyan Sword Wall, causing a cascade of fire to rain down from the sky. Following Tang Lici’s earlier instructions, Chi Yun and Shen Langhun quickly moved to evacuate the city’s residents. Initially, the Citadel of Swordsman disciples headed for the mountains to seek refuge, but seeing Tang Lici’s companions diligently aiding the citizens, they were moved to action and began assisting with the evacuation.
