Rising With The Wind Episode 9 Recap
> Rising With The Wind Recap
Jiang Hu sat at the dinner table with Pei Zhiyuan and Yue Shan after Ren Bing had left. She drank heavily, upset that the Free Unicorn veterans she had hoped would return to Teng Yue had refused. This reinforced her belief that "human feelings of sympathy are as thin as paper." Xu Si, who was dining in a private room, emerged and encountered a drunken Jiang Hu. She was unsteady on her feet and spoke harshly to him.
Recognizing her state, Xu Si tried to assist her and asked a server to get her some hot water. Despite his efforts to prevent it, Jiang Hu threw up on his suit jacket. Pei Zhiyuan quickly apologized on her behalf, found a clean jacket for Xu Si, and explained that Jiang Hu was in a bad mood because the former Free Unicorn employees were ungrateful and wouldn't help revitalize Teng Yue. Later, Yue Shan drove a still-recovering Jiang Hu home.
Yue Shan spoke with concern, reminding Jiang Hu that she needed to take care of herself, especially as a woman, and that drinking so much wasn't safe. Jiang Hu reflected on her past immaturity and disrespect towards Yue Shan, admitting she was wrong. Listening to Yue Shan’s advice made her nostalgic for her father's nagging. Despite everyone believing it was impossible to save Teng Yue, Jiang Hu was determined to turn the "fantasy into a fortress."
After Zhaoyang moved out, both she and Yang Jian found their morning routines disrupted and difficult to adjust to. Meanwhile, at TT Media, Xu Si reviewed surveillance footage and discovered that Nan, the company's top host, was behind the tracking, candid photos, and smear campaign against Zhaoyang. Xu Si tasked Song Zhi with handling the internal issue, pointing out the dilemma given Nan's top performance. During this conversation, Xu Si ignored a call from Jiang Hu.
After Song Zhi left, upset by Xu Si's pragmatic approach to work relationships, Xu Si called Jiang Hu back. Hearing that she had bought a jacket to compensate him for the one she ruined, he sent her a time and location to meet for dinner. Jiang Hu was surprised when Xu Si took her to a modest restaurant, but he explained it was his choice and his treat. Jiang Hu presented him with the new jacket, which fit perfectly.
She remarked that growing up in Free Unicorn had given her an innate ability to estimate clothing sizes, considering it a professional skill. Xu Si teased that even with the gift, he wouldn't go easy on her sales quota. Jiang Hu, in turn, earnestly expressed her determination to make Teng Yue successful, but Xu Si preferred to avoid talking about work during the meal.
After dinner, claiming his car wasn't charged and that public transport was too slow, Xu Si asked Jiang Hu for a ride to a parking lot on her electric moped. Jiang Hu was initially reluctant but eventually agreed. She demonstrated surprisingly good riding skills, which Xu Si commented on.
They bantered during the ride, with Jiang Hu teasing him about needing a ride from a woman and Xu Si reminding her of her troublesome behavior when she was drunk the previous night. Later, Xu Si texted Jiang Hu to tell her the jacket fit well, specifically complimenting the cufflinks. He asked if she had been so thoughtful towards her previous bosses, to which she replied that he was her first.
Jiang Hu sought out Master Zhang, who was working late, to ask about a distributor named Du Wenhua. Master Zhang confirmed that Du Wenhua's family had been major distributors for Teng Yue decades ago, with extensive channels covering various businesses. He noted that despite this history, Du Wenhua's current standing, much like Teng Yue's, wasn't what it once was.
Master Zhang suggested Jiang Hu visit him, mentioning Du Wenhua liked coffee and that bringing some as a gift would be a good idea. At TT Media, Song Zhi was reluctant to take strong action against Nan for the smear campaign, prioritizing his performance and suggesting the incident would blow over. Unwilling to let it go, especially because it involved her family, Zhaoyang confronted Nan directly while he was live-streaming.
She warned him that his underhanded methods were unprofessional for a top host and threatened to disrupt his future streams if his behavior continued. Song Zhi observed the confrontation, appearing powerless to intervene. Jiang Hu located Du Wenhua leading a group of older women in square dancing. He was actively selling them shoes, adeptly identifying foot size differences to sell custom-sized pairs for an extra fee, as well as convenient no-tie shoelaces.
Soon, a rival dance group arrived with professional sound equipment, informing Du Wenhua's group they needed the space for an upcoming competition. This group was led by Song Jiali, another shoe and clothing distributor, forcing Du Wenhua's group to yield the spot. After the disruption, Jiang Hu approached Du Wenhua, introduced herself as being from Teng Yue, and offered him a bag of Santa Ines coffee.
Du Wenhua recognized her as Jiang Qisheng's daughter but was dismissive, stating he had stopped doing business with Teng Yue years ago and would not sell their shoes again after his current stock was gone. Jiang Hu persisted, offering her full assistance in exchange for his help with distribution channels and acknowledging his expertise.
Du Wenhua then presented two conditions: she had to repair his vintage Tannoy Stirling speaker and secure a luxury car for him to use to outshine his rival, Song Jiali. Jiang Hu took the broken speaker to Yang Jian, who found that it was an old model from the 1990s that no one he knew could repair.
Regarding the car, Yang Jian explained it was difficult to rent one on short notice, as luxury cars were booked for a wedding expo, and borrowing one from a dealership was impossible due to constant surveillance. Jiang Hu expressed frustration at Du Wenhua's unreasonable demands but knew she had to win him over to satisfy her investors.
