Zhao Jiwei, returning late, found Li Dawei restless in bed, fretting over whether his father Li Yisheng's involvement in gambling would jeopardize his probation. Zhao Jiwei expressed this concern directly to Li Dawei, who firmly stated that he and his father were separate individuals and he had nothing to do with his father's actions.

When Yang Shu later arrived and inquired about Li Dawei, noting he was in a bad mood, Yang Shu offered to check on him, but Zhao Jiwei advised against it, suggesting Li Dawei needed some time alone. Zhang Zhijie meticulously investigated Li Yisheng's involvement, reporting his findings to Wang Shouyi. He clarified that all gamblers had to pay a venue fee via WeChat, and Li Yisheng had no such transfer record. The casino owner didn't accept cash.

Surveillance footage and witness testimonies further confirmed Li Yisheng had not participated in the gambling. Instead, he was there to retrieve money for a collector's item he had pledged with a friend, who was a regular at the casino. Although his friend tried to persuade him to join the game, Li Yisheng had no money to chip in.

Zhang Zhijie then explicitly praised Li Dawei for his proactive and commendable performance during the raid, requesting commendation for him and advocating for his protégé not to be penalized due to his father's presence at the scene. Wang Shouyi agreed to consider the matter. During breakfast, Zhao Jiwei discreetly inquired about Li Dawei's situation, and Zhang Zhijie reassured him that Li Yisheng's presence at the gambling den shouldn't significantly impact Li Dawei, as his father's situation was already clarified.

Zhao Jiwei then brought up Scar, noting his absence during the raid. When Zhao Jiwei hinted that Scar might be an informant whose identity Zhang Zhijie was protecting, Zhang Zhijie dismissed the idea, stating they simply offer care and help to released individuals, which naturally fosters their cooperation. Zhao Jiwei then expressed his frustration with handling "trifles" daily and his desire to achieve something significant.

Zhang Zhijie cautioned him against prioritizing achievements over diligent work, warning that such an approach would be counterproductive. Ms. Wu returned to the police station, vehemently accusing Xia Jie of cursing her daughter to die and demanding a face-to-face apology. Cheng Hao initially tried to defuse the situation by intercepting Ms. Wu and attempting to establish a friendly rapport, but she was unyielding, declaring her dignity was paramount and reiterating her demand for Xia Jie to apologize.

Xia Jie, hearing the commotion, emerged despite Cheng Hao's attempts to keep her out of sight. She confronted Ms. Wu, asserting she had done nothing wrong and had merely followed police procedures. Li Dawei then rushed in, forcefully defending Xia Jie and reminding Ms. Wu that she had slapped Xia Jie, warning her about the implications of assaulting a police officer. Concerned about escalating the conflict, Cheng Hao quickly intervened and ushered Li Dawei away.

When Ms. Wu insisted on an apology or threatened to report Xia Jie to higher authorities, Xia Jie steadfastly refused, maintaining she had done nothing wrong. Cheng Hao, as her Master, attempted to defuse the situation by offering a sincere bow and apologizing on her behalf, taking responsibility for any perceived shortcomings in her training. However, Xia Jie rejected his apology, stating she didn't need his protection as she was an officer, not a child, and had her own dignity.

Ms. Wu, still unsatisfied, warned Xia Jie to remain "tough" and never apologize, before departing. Afterwards, Cheng Hao tried to reason with Xia Jie, urging her not to engage with such people and explaining his actions were to prevent further conflict and protect her. Xia Jie, however, pushed back, expressing her frustration that his constant protection, much like her mother's, left her feeling "suffocated." Li Dawei came to the station to process the paperwork for his father, Li Yisheng's, release.

Chen Xincheng, who identified himself as Li Dawei's master, assisted, bringing Li Yisheng to the entrance and instructing Li Dawei to get the car to take his father home. Before leaving, Li Yisheng anxiously asked Chen Xincheng if his actions would negatively impact Li Dawei's career. Chen Xincheng sternly admonished him, highlighting the inconsistency of a police officer's father engaging in illegal activities.

Li Yisheng expressed deep remorse, admitting his fault and acknowledging he had missed the opportunity to properly guide Li Dawei, which was why his son now rejected him. He promised Chen Xincheng to strictly regulate his behavior and sever ties with unreliable friends, vowing not to bring further disgrace upon his son. He then bowed deeply to Chen Xincheng, entrusting Li Dawei's future to him. Li Dawei observed this interaction.

Director Song contacted Wang Shouyi, relaying Ms. Wu's formal complaint and insisting that Xia Jie apologize to resolve the public's grievances. Wang Shouyi staunchly defended Xia Jie, arguing that she had acted strictly according to normal procedures, including the necessary blood test, and therefore had done nothing wrong. He also urged the higher-ups to protect frontline officers. Director Song, however, was resolute that the complaint must be resolved to the public's satisfaction, regardless of whether an apology was given.

Later, Yang Shu approached a dejected Xia Jie during lunch, providing her with legal context from the Police Law, confirming her actions were within regulations, and assuring her that even in court, she would be justified. He cautioned her not to let others' opinions affect her mood, sharing his own past experiences with his master.

Xia Jie confided in him, expressing frustration that despite knowing she was right, Cheng Hao's insistence on apologizing for her made her feel "suffocated" and "immature." Wang Shouyi summoned Xia Jie to his office, with Ye Wei present. He expressed concern for Xia Jie, describing her as a good person with a strong will, much like her late father.

Wang Shouyi attempted to gently persuade Xia Jie to apologize to Ms. Wu for the sake of the station, suggesting it was a minor issue and an act of "forgiving a small wrong for a greater good." Xia Jie, however, demanded to know specifically what she had done wrong, reiterating her adherence to procedure. Ye Wei supported Wang Shouyi, pointing out that Xia Jie's manner might have inadvertently triggered Ms. Wu's emotional state.

Unmoved, Xia Jie maintained her innocence, stating she simply followed protocol and didn't understand why she should apologize. Wang Shouyi then shifted his approach, emphasizing the disruption Ms. Wu's complaints were causing to the bureau and station's work, and urged Xia Jie to consider compromising for the greater good.

Xia Jie viewed this as an accusation of her impeding their work, and when Wang Shouyi tried to temper his words by saying they shouldn't "behave like them," she sarcastically asked if he meant the public had "low quality." Frustrated, Wang Shouyi directly asked if she would apologize if the station explicitly ordered her to. Xia Jie defiantly declared she would "not obey" and invited them to punish her if she had violated any rules.

With that, she stormed out, leaving Wang Shouyi exasperated. Ye Wei then commented that Xia Jie was acting like this "just because her dad is a hero," which Wang Shouyi promptly refuted, reminding her of the significance of Xia Jie's father's sacrifice and that everyone at the bureau benefited from it. Later, Xia Jie sat despondently in the courtyard.

Zhao Jiwei approached to comfort her, revealing that colleagues were privately discussing her refusal to apologize, speculating she was leveraging her father's hero status. Xia Jie emphatically stated that her father was her father and she was her own person, having no intention of relying on his legacy. Elsewhere, Li Dawei experienced a vivid nightmare where he was dismissed from the police force due to his father's actions, waking in a cold sweat.

Checking his phone, he saw a group message about a broken faucet in their shared house; the landlord had provided a new one, but Yang Shu and Zhao Jiwei were working late. Feeling he was the only one available, Li Dawei decided to install the faucet himself, only to create a large mess. Upon returning home, Xia Jie found their apartment flooded and Li Dawei frantically calling for help to contact property management.

She calmly located and turned off the main water valve, much to Li Dawei's surprise, explaining that she had experience replacing faucets at her own home. As they worked together to clean the flooded room, Xia Jie asked Li Dawei what he would do if he couldn't be a police officer. He admitted he had no other aspirations, wanting only to be a cop. Xia Jie then mentioned hearing his father had gone home, picked up by his mother.

Li Dawei clarified that he was the one who drove his father home but deliberately avoided going upstairs to see his mother, a decision that left him feeling deeply distressed. Xia Jie praised his maturity in handling the situation. The following morning, Chen Xincheng informed Li Dawei that the higher authorities had decided not to pursue the matter concerning his father, as it was confirmed Li Yisheng was not involved in the gambling itself. Chen Xincheng emphasized that Li Dawei's father's actions would not reflect on him. Li Dawei was deeply grateful for the news.
