My Mowgli Boy Episode 21 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Ling Xi sat alone at her computer, scrolling through comments, her mind drifting back to the early days of her studio. She recalled recruiting Tutu, Li Kai, and Ren He, assigning them grand titles: Tutu became the Director of Logistics and her personal bodyguard; Li Kai, with his unique charm, was named the face of their studio and Head of the Commerce Department, tasked with bringing in clients; and Ren He, with her independent vision, was crowned Design Queen.
Together, they celebrated their official opening, declaring ambitious goals: a monthly sales target of 50,000 sets, surpassing Wharf on the 38th floor within three years, and going public on Nasdaq within five. Ling Xi had urged them not to call her "boss," finding it too serious, and after some playful suggestions, they settled on "Master Xi" for her.
These memories brought a bittersweet smile to her face, a stark contrast to the lively aspirations they once shared, highlighting how hard yet fulfilling those days were, despite the struggles. Snapping back to reality, Ling Xi sighed, a bitter smile on her face. Her team had all left, and now only Mowgli’s wolf tooth necklace offered her comfort. She glanced at the clock, thinking Mowgli should have arrived back in the forest by then.
Suddenly, a news alert popped up on her screen, reporting a bus accident. To her horror, it was the very bus Mowgli was traveling on. Without hesitation, Ling Xi rushed out, ignoring the hateful graffiti sprayed on her car by angry fans; her only concern was Mowgli's safety. Meanwhile, Lu Ziyue drove a visibly intoxicated Tang Cheng home from a nightclub. As Tang Cheng sought a drink, she marveled at the meticulously organized refrigerator.
Lu Ziyue offered her honey water to alleviate her hangover, suggesting it would help her sleep, but she defiantly reached for beer. He told her he understood she was upset, assuring her that he would always stand by her, even if she was in the wrong, and offered a detailed, if peculiar, analysis of her habits. Tang Cheng initially denied her sadness, then made a bold move to kiss him, but was interrupted by a news report.
A quick phone call from Ling Xi then confirmed Mowgli was in a bus accident, prompting Tang Cheng to urgently ask Lu Ziyue to drive her to the scene. On the way, Tang Cheng, realizing the severity of Ling Xi's situation—a double blow with her studio troubles—complained that Lu Ziyue was driving too slowly. He gently paused to fasten her seatbelt before accelerating, a gesture that implicitly showed his care.
Ling Xi arrived at the chaotic accident site, a scene of disarray with medical personnel tending to the injured. Distraught, she frantically asked for Mowgli, but no one could provide answers. She repeatedly called out his name. Mowgli, who was helping paramedics move injured passengers, heard her voice. Surprised and overjoyed, he called back to her. Ling Xi rushed to him, embracing him tightly.
Mowgli declared that he would never leave her again, explaining that the moment the bus crashed, she was the first and only person he thought of. He now knew his feelings for her were a unique and profound love, different from his bonds with Lu Ziyue or Tang Cheng.
Ling Xi, her eyes red, silently acknowledged her own growing realization that Mowgli had become an irreplaceable part of her life, a love distinct from her dependence on Zheng Li or her sisterly connection with Tang Cheng. As Tang Cheng and Lu Ziyue finally arrived, Tang Cheng couldn't help but feel annoyed that she had rushed all this way just to witness Ling Xi and Mowgli's affectionate reunion.
Back home, Ling Xi and Mowgli continued to express their love, promising never to be apart again, their sweet declarations making Lu Ziyue and Tang Cheng feel like invisible observers. Mowgli then noticed the spray paint on Ling Xi's car, which brought up the issue of her studio. Ling Xi, with Tang Cheng's help, recorded and posted an apology video online.
In the video, Ling Xi, the boss and person in charge of Xixi Ling Studio, expressed her deep regret for the plagiarism incident involving their couple pajamas. She announced that all products would be removed, deposits refunded, and efforts made to compensate factories and agents for their losses. She also declared the permanent closure of Xixi Ling Studio. Tang Cheng comforted Ling Xi, suggesting that this bankruptcy could be a valuable experience for her growth.
Ling Xi jokingly pleaded with Tang Cheng for financial support, offering to become her "parasite," and Tang Cheng readily agreed, promising "three services: food, accommodation, and chatting." Ling Yu’s mother, Wen Yu, watched Ling Xi's apology video and asked Ling Yu to help his sister. Ling Yu, feigning helplessness, claimed his father’s disapproval made it impossible, even though he had orchestrated Ling Xi’s downfall and was gloating internally.
Gao Jie, Ling Yu's girlfriend, expressed her delight at Ling Xi's misfortune, telling Ling Yu that Ling Xi wouldn’t be able to "lord it over them" anymore. Gao Jie also shared how her investment had returned 30%, pleasing her father, but Ling Yu seemed distracted, his mind elsewhere. He soon received a message on his phone from Chu Shi, asking about the location of "square dance." Ling Yu met with Chu Shi, who noticed his unhappiness.
Chu Shi took his hand and suggested a quick stress-relief method through guided meditation, asking him to imagine worries as pebbles to be thrown away, and to recall a happy memory. Ling Yu participated, attempting to clear his mind of pressures. However, he abruptly left after spotting Zheng Li's father outside the café, leaving Chu Shi a note to meet again at 6 PM at Celebrity Park.
Meanwhile, Ling Xi, now jobless, had no means to pay her mortgage, so she decided to sell her house and car. A buyer, Mr. Liu, quickly appeared, relieving her immediate financial strain. Ling Xi walked through her house one last time, cherishing every memory, regretting having to part with it.
She showed Mr. Liu around, detailing the pros (like a south-facing balcony for sun and BBQ) and cons (like potential rainwater accumulation) of the house, even mentioning her money tree and its symbolic connection to her current financial downturn. She explained that due to recent events, she needed a lump sum payment. Mr. Liu agreed to pay in full and sign the contract the next day. That evening, Ling Yu met Chu Shi at People's Square.
Chu Shi, intrigued by the concept of "square dance," humorously questioned why it wasn't called "park dance" or "community dance" given its various locations. They playfully debated the literal meanings of Chinese dish names like "family bucket" and "Ants on the Tree." Chu Shi then enthusiastically pulled a hesitant Ling Yu into the lively square dance. Though initially self-conscious, Ling Yu soon shed his inhibitions and joyfully danced with her.
Ling Xi and Mowgli, now without a home, moved in with Tang Cheng. That night, Tang Cheng called them for "night snacks," which turned out to be just biscuits and chili sauce. She then unveiled a strict "economy plan" for them: no more night snacks or treats, minimal use of lights and electricity, and high-knees for warmth.
Mowgli was advised to eat more vegetables and less meat, causing both him and Ling Xi to lament that they had "Back to the Dark Ages overnight." The next day, Tang Cheng informed Ling Xi that the original designer of the copied pajamas had deleted her Weibo posts, suggesting Ling Xi go apologize in person. A nervous Ling Xi and Mowgli set off to meet "Aunt Lei."
Mowgli reassured Ling Xi that he would always love her, even if she turned into a "pig," before playfully pushing her into the house. To Ling Xi’s surprise, "Aunt Lei" was a beautiful young woman who initially mistook Ling Xi for a fan and asked for an autograph. Ling Xi, confused, complied, even adding a heart and a smiley face.
Aunt Lei then revealed her true identity and her disappointment in Ling Xi as an idol, refusing her apology and demanding she leave. Ling Xi persisted, bowing deeply and explaining that she had sold her studio, house, and car, and would compensate Aunt Lei fully, also offering a public apology through her old studio account. Aunt Lei’s demeanor softened slightly, and she told Ling Xi to apologize to her cat.
Ling Xi, never having had a pet, struggled to understand, relating it to her own money tree. Aunt Lei then explained that the small bag in the pajamas, which Ling Xi admired, was designed to hold her beloved cat, who liked to sleep quietly on her lap or, in old age, on her chest, listening to her breathing. Ling Xi was deeply moved and offered a sincere apology to Aunt Lei and her deceased cat.
