Yan Tuo carefully carried an injured Nie Jiuluo upstairs. Her cheeks were flushed as she rested on his back. Mr. Changxi, witnessing this, deliberately ascended the stairs slowly with a movable bed, claiming he was too tired to care for a patient at night and subtly suggesting Yan Tuo stay. The couple found themselves in an awkward and delicate situation, ultimately leading Yan Tuo to reluctantly stay and attend to Nie Jiuluo.
Meanwhile, Xing Shen intently manipulated a hidden compartment on a cauldron and triggered an intricate mechanism, revealing detailed records of Nanshan. Afterward, he and Ma Fengzi, who seemed to be in a dazed state, meticulously reviewed the documents, hoping to uncover more clues. After his shower, Yan Tuo considerately carried Nie Jiuluo to the bathroom. Nie Jiuluo's heart pounded nervously as she tried to mask her unease. Throughout the night, they both avoided eye contact.
Yan Tuo tossed and turned, unable to sleep. When he shifted, the movable bed creaked loudly, making Nie Jiuluo burst into laughter. The next morning, Mr. Changxi grumbled unhappily about his beef dumplings being stolen after he had worked hard to prepare them the previous night. He was unaware that the thief was Chen Fu, the Earth Fiend they had captured.
Mr. Changxi then went to Nie Jiuluo's home to deliver dumplings to Lu, only to find she had stepped out to take out the trash. Nie Jiuluo promptly contacted Xing Shen, informing him that Yan Tuo had saved her after her injury and successfully captured Chen Fu. Xing Shen, however, was skeptical of Yan Tuo, recalling how Earth Fiends had rescued Yan Tuo from the ice factory, injuring Mrs. Hua in the process.
Nie Jiuluo clarified that Yan Tuo's biological parents were killed by Earth Fiends and that he had been secretly working to bring them down. She asserted that Yan Tuo was trustworthy, having already helped capture Chen Fu and Han Guan. She advised Xing Shen not to rush the rescue of Jiang and assured him she would keep him updated after interrogating Chen Fu.
Nie Jiuluo then began her interrogation of Chen Fu, pressing him about the "blood bag" and how Earth Fiends transformed into human form. Chen Fu scoffed, ridiculing her for using her looks to sway Yan Tuo. He defiantly stated that he would bite off his tongue before revealing any Earth Fiend secrets. Undeterred, Nie Jiuluo calmly threatened to study the physical structure of a humanoid Earth Fiend, even joking about making "fiend meat dumplings."
While Nie Jiuluo questioned him, Chen Fu was secretly trying to loosen his restraints, but she remained engrossed in her interrogation, unaware of his attempts. Meanwhile, Yan Tuo, holding snacks, went to find Lin Ling but couldn't locate her. He eventually found Xiong Hei in the surveillance room, who was searching for the missing Chen Fu under Lin Xirou's orders. Feng Mi then presented a surveillance image showing a blue car trailing Chen Fu's vehicle.
Yan Tuo remained unfazed, explaining that the blue car had already been destroyed at sea and posed no threat. On another front, Feng Mi arrived at Jian'an Car Rental, pretending to be a distraught wife whose husband had rented a car with another woman. She demanded to see the surveillance footage to confirm her suspicions. Yan Tuo and Nie Jiuluo, alerted by Feng Mi, rushed to the scene.
They arrived just as Feng Mi, who introduced herself as Wang Mimi, was pressuring the staff to show her the September 13th footage. Peering in from a back window, they saw that Feng Mi was about to see Nie Jiuluo on screen. In a critical moment, Yan Tuo swiftly pulled the main power switch, causing a blackout. As Feng Mi angrily stormed out, Yan Tuo seized the opportunity to sneak in and retrieve the surveillance memory card.
On the way back, Yan Tuo revealed to Nie Jiuluo that Chen Fu had made good on his threat and bitten off his own tongue. They discussed his cryptic last words, "Once entering the Twilight Chasm, humans become fiendish wraiths, and fiends become human demons"—a saying neither had heard before. Checking Chen Fu's phone, they found a note marking "the day after tomorrow" as an important date and saw frequent calls from a woman named Xu Anni.
Feeling something was amiss, they decided to investigate Xu Anni, discovering she lived in a town called Heyang. To create a cover for their trip, Yan Tuo called Lin Xirou, fabricating a story about needing to go to Heyang to meet a business partner named Meng Zheyuan to discuss new technology. Back at their hideout, Nie Jiuluo securely tied the injured Chen Fu in the upstairs attic.
She then told Mr. Changxi that Yan Tuo had accidentally shipped sculpting clay with chemical dyes to their address and asked him not to go into the attic for his health. Mr. Changxi, unsuspecting, agreed. With all arrangements made, Nie Jiuluo and Yan Tuo quickly set off for Heyang.
