The incident resulted in heavy casualties among the villagers, casting layers of sorrow under the dark clouds. Cheng Zhi was deeply shocked upon hearing the news and locked himself indoors to mourn his late kin.

Thinking about how Old Magistrate Cheng, even in his sixties, still resolutely went out to face danger, even using his entire family’s lives as bait, Cheng Shaoshang felt deeply grieved.
