Love Better Than Immortality Episode 31 Recap
> Love Better Than Immortality Recap
Chunhua and Qiuyue engaged in a game of truth or dare. Qiuyue consistently won, prompting Chunhua to choose dare when faced with questions she couldn't answer. As a result, she was tasked with repeatedly kissing Qiuyue. Eventually, Chunhua managed to win a round by cheating and seized the opportunity to ask Qiuyue how many times he had lied to her. She declared she would leave immediately if the number exceeded three. Unable to answer, Qiuyue feigned unconsciousness.
While pretending to be in pain from his wound, he softly called out to gauge Chunhua’s concern, which she readily showed, calling him "Brother Qiuyue" and confirming her worry. During their time together, Qiuyue reminded Chunhua that she had once said the first man she saw was her Mr. Right, to which she confirmed he was that man for her. He also brought up the origin of her name, reciting a classic poem, implying he created it.
Chunhua saw through his pretense, pointing out he wasn't the author. Qiuyue then admitted it was written by someone else, who would recite it on the 15th of lunar August every year and then compel him to kill Xiao Yuan. Qiuyue expressed his desire for a future where they would be together forever and have many children. Meanwhile, Qin Liufeng was meticulously changing into his attire.
Leng Ning entered, mockingly asking if he was dressed up for a spring outing rather than an investigation, and chastised him for constantly pairing Feng Caicai with Junior Leader Xiao Bai. Qin Liufeng defended his actions, stating that Feng Caicai was considerate, gentle, and generous, and even had feelings for Xiao Bai. However, he also acknowledged that given her character, Feng Caicai would likely only accept being Xiao Bai's close friend. Leng Ning then questioned their own relationship.
Qin Liufeng expressed his strong desire to travel the martial arts world with her, but pointed out that a person named Li Yu thought they were both men. Infuriated, Leng Ning called him a "scoundrel" and stormed off. Later, Qin Liufeng, Xiao Bai, Feng Caicai, and Leng Ning visited an inn to gather intelligence. Qin Liufeng engaged in overly charming behavior with the inn's beautiful proprietress, ordering all their best dishes.
This quickly angered Leng Ning, who questioned if the establishment was a brothel or a restaurant, and if the proprietress sold food or herself. Declaring she had no appetite, Leng Ning decided to leave. Despite Qin Liufeng's attempts to appease her, she walked out without paying. Xiao Bai then stepped in to settle the bill, and Qin Liufeng added extra money, claiming it was for the proprietress's beauty.
After Xiao Bai and Feng Caicai departed, Qin Liufeng engaged the proprietress in a private conversation. He instructed her to relay a message to her "big boss," Mr. Shi, informing him that Qin Liufeng from Dongshan Sect wished to meet him. The proprietress initially feigned ignorance, claiming she couldn't understand.
Qin Liufeng then revealed his knowledge of the two handsome teenagers who became puppets at the immortality fruit auction, whose parents were horrified to see their lively children turned into mere puppets. He exposed that she had tried to conceal all traces of the incident, but failed to eliminate one family. Qin Liufeng explained that his benevolent father had taken the other family under the protection of Dongshan Sect.
He further explained how he tracked her down: the poor family, desperate from famine, sought to sell their children for food and had met the proprietress. A crucial detail was that the family remembered a distinct "food smell" on her, not perfume, which was unusual for someone from a wealthy family, thus pinpointing her connection to the inn's kitchen. Meanwhile, Star Deputy Chief Ye appeared lost in thought.
Qiuyue materialized before him, commenting on how Gu Wan, unlike others who rebelled for ambition, had rebelled out of deep affection for Star Deputy Chief Ye. Star Deputy Chief Ye falsely claimed to Qiuyue that she had personally executed Gu Wan. Qiuyue then instructed Star Deputy Chief Ye to disseminate news of a rebellion within the Thousand Moon Cave and his own severe injury, explaining that this would cause turmoil among their enemies.
He also stated he preferred Xiao Bai to attack Thousand Moon Cave rather than be killed by Mr. Shi, which could lead to widespread chaos in the martial arts world. Star Deputy Chief Ye then contacted Mr. Shi, who complained that Thousand Moon Cave had abandoned him, leaving him vulnerable to harassment by Xiao Bai's associates, who had even found his henchman and threatened her.
Star Deputy Chief Ye promised to protect him and, as instructed by Qiuyue, informed him about the Thousand Moon Cave's rebellion and Qiuyue's supposed injuries, assuring him that this news would provide him temporary safety. Mr. Shi acknowledged that this information could potentially lure Xiao Bai away, making him safer. Upon their return, Qin Liufeng elaborated on his investigative methods at the inn, detailing his logical deductions, particularly how the "food smell" helped him identify the proprietress.
He expected praise, but Leng Ning harshly criticized him, accusing him of flirting and being experienced in observing women. Qin Liufeng was frustrated, feeling that despite his diligent efforts in the investigation, he had only gained a bad reputation. Feng Caicai and Xiao Bai exchanged amused glances as they watched the two bicker. Feng Caicai playfully suggested that if Leng Ning were to wear women's clothing, she would undoubtedly outshine the "coquettish" proprietress many times over.
Back in the cave, Qiuyue continued to feign illness, with Chunhua playfully chiding him for becoming "delicate" under her care. They reminisced about their past, and Chunhua reminded him of a promise he had made: that she would marry him. Qiuyue claimed he had "expected it." Chunhua also recalled him describing her as "foolish and lovely" in the past. She then realized that Qiuyue was responsible for the poisonous snake that had scared her in the bamboo forest.
Qiuyue, feeling a little embarrassed, offered to "punish" himself by kissing her, so intensely that she felt almost suffocated. Chunhua told him that even if he was "fake," she wanted him to live well for her, to which Qiuyue corrected, "for us." Suddenly, Chunhua screamed upon discovering a skeleton in the cave. Qiuyue immediately rushed to her side, embracing her and covering her eyes, confessing that he had killed the person because they had tried to kill him first.
Chunhua, noticing how quickly he arrived, realized that he had already recovered from his injuries and had been deceiving her for three days. However, she wasn't angry, only asking him to stop such deceptive behavior. Qiuyue admitted he simply wanted more time alone with her, stating that sometimes "it's easy to tell the truth but hard to tell a lie," and that he "racked his brains" daily for her. Chunhua, touched by his explanation, reluctantly forgave him.
Chunhua, repeatedly sneezing, told Qiuyue she couldn't endure the cold like him and urged him to leave the cave. As they walked out hand-in-hand, Chunhua confessed that since meeting Qiuyue, she had developed more fears. Qiuyue promised to shield her from all her worries. Chunhua, in turn, pleaded with Qiuyue to stop killing, emphasizing how dangerous his actions were. Qiuyue then asked her what she would do if he were to be injured and trapped again.
Chunhua bravely declared that she would ensure she stayed alive to save him once more, insisting that martial arts were not the sole determinant of victory. She then questioned why he was so insistent on being a "devil." Qiuyue explained that it was the only way to ensure no one could harm him and Chunhua. Chunhua, however, confided in him that all she truly desired was a stable life, not just safety, a revelation that visibly moved Qiuyue.
