> Love Better Than Immortality Recap

As the wedding preparations are underway, Xiao Bai, Qin Liufeng, and Leng Ning busy themselves decorating with character "xi" papers. Qin Liufeng initiates a conversation about the immortality fruit and then confesses his feelings to Leng Ning, stating his belief that a lifetime with a beloved is superior to an eternal life without love.

He asks if she would allow him to accompany her, but Leng Ning, shyly deflecting, playfully remarks that he is too wonderful and is merely in the way between her and Feng Caicai. Later, burdened by guilt over his deception, Xiao Bai seeks out Chunhua, who is looking troubled while embroidering a handkerchief, a bridal custom. She shows him a pearl, comparing it to the immortality fruit, noting that their acquaintance began because of the very fruit.

When Xiao Bai asks what she would do with a real immortality fruit, Chunhua surprisingly says she would give it to Lady You Si. Xiao Bai immediately dismisses this, associating Lady You Si with Fu Lou and the evil sect, but Chunhua passionately defends her.

She describes Lady You Si as innocent and beautiful, like a pearl protected by Fu Lou, and insightfully explains that if Lady You Si were gone, Fu Lou would truly be possessed, implying his current state is due to a profound emptiness. As Xiao Bai attempts to confess his real plan to Chunhua, a sudden, inexplicable gust of wind blows, tangling Chunhua's hair.

Xiao Bai reaches out to gently fix it, but an unseen force strikes his hand, causing him to accidentally slap Chunhua across the face. Both are stunned. Qin Liufeng, passing by, comments on his frequent intrusion into awkward situations. Xiao Bai, mistakenly thinking Qin Liufeng caused the mishap, angrily pulls him aside. Outside, Qin Liufeng jokes about Xiao Bai being fickle, having just been with Chunhua and now coming to him.

Xiao Bai quickly dismisses this and admits his profound guilt over deceiving Chunhua. He confesses he tried but failed to reveal his true plan because Chunhua's eagerness to marry him made him fear she would doubt his sincerity if he told her the truth.

Xiao Bai then explains his true intentions: he decided to host a grand wedding as an elaborate excuse to gather all major sects and publicly destroy the immortality fruit, believing its existence was the root cause of the widespread chaos and inner demons in the Wulin. Qin Liufeng advises him that a clear conscience is enough. However, Xiao Bai, frustrated, retorts that Qin Liufeng, having never experienced love, wouldn't understand, leaving Qin Liufeng feeling unexpectedly hurt.

After Xiao Bai departs, Chunhua discovers a piece of ice under the table, realizing that the person who struck Xiao Bai's hand was not Qin Liufeng, but Shangguan Qiuyue. As her wedding approaches, Chunhua struggles to sleep, tormented by thoughts of Shangguan Qiuyue. She rises to wash her face, hoping to clear her mind, only to see Shangguan Qiuyue's reflection in the mirror.

She questions her "Mr. Right" premise, wondering if Xiao Bai truly is her destined one simply because he was the first man she saw. Meanwhile, Shangguan Qiuyue, visibly troubled and drinking, discusses the common wedding tradition of using red decorations, deeming them tacky. His subordinate, Ye Xingzhu, defends the custom, stating red symbolizes festivity and happiness for brides. Shangguan Qiuyue then asks if Ye Xingzhu, as a woman, has a beloved.

Ye Xingzhu deflects, asserting her identity solely as a subordinate. Shangguan Qiuyue, however, reveals he knows Ye Xingzhu is injured and implies a lifelong commitment, then orders her to report every detail of Little Chunhua's wedding. Later, Gu Xingzhu notices Ye Xingzhu's injuries and expresses concern and frustration that she must still go out for tasks so late. Gu Xingzhu also detects the scent of "Three-day Intoxication" on Ye Xingzhu, inquiring if Shangguan Qiuyue has been drinking frequently.

Dressed in her red bridal attire, Chunhua joyfully admires herself in the mirror, wondering if she is dreaming. Feng Caicai arrives, offering heartfelt blessings and praising Chunhua as the most beautiful bride. Xiao Bai then enters, intending to finally tell Chunhua the truth. However, Chunhua, overcome with happiness, playfully interrupts him.

She commands him to sit, tells him to say he likes her, and teases him about his former shyness and distance, how he used to blush and use his sword to keep her away. She cuts him off repeatedly, confidently asserting that she knows he will be good to her for life.

Unable to speak past her joyous interruptions, Xiao Bai silently clasps Chunhua's hands, internally wishing she would not blame him for his concealment and hoping their wedding would finally put an end to all their troubles, allowing them everlasting peace. At the wedding ceremony, amidst congratulations from the gathered Wulin heroes, Xiao Bai begins to speak, announcing a matter unrelated to the wedding.

He explains that the immortality fruit has plunged the Wulin into chaos and bloodshed, and as the leader of Fengming Manor, he cannot remain indifferent. He then declares that he has obtained the immortality fruit and will destroy it publicly, believing its existence would only lead to endless problems. The revelation shocks the assembly, who vehemently protest its destruction.

Chunhua's smile slowly fades as she grasps the true purpose of the elaborate wedding and confronts Xiao Bai, questioning if the entire ceremony was merely a pretense for the immortality fruit. Xiao Bai remains silent. At the same time, in another location, Lady You Si meticulously arranges flowers, unusually selecting withered branches over blooming ones. She explains her philosophy of giving vulnerable flowers a second life and wonders if her wedding gift for Chunhua and Xiao Bai has arrived.

Just then, Shangguan Qiuyue calmly walks into the wedding hall. Xiao Bai, enraged, assumes Shangguan Qiuyue is there for the immortality fruit, but Shangguan Qiuyue dismisses the idea as ridiculous, stating he finds it more amusing to watch them make fools of themselves. He swiftly pulls Chunhua into his arms. Xiao Bai draws his Fengming Sword, preparing to unleash its powerful "Powerful Thunderbolt" technique, demanding Shangguan Qiuyue release Chunhua.

Shangguan Qiuyue warns him that using such a potent move would harm Chunhua, causing Xiao Bai to hesitate. Shangguan Qiuyue then declares the wedding cannot proceed. A terrified Chunhua, realizing his intent to disrupt her special day, looks at him in horror. Xiao Bai, still fixated on the immortality fruit, demands to know why Shangguan Qiuyue interferes with his wife.

Shangguan Qiuyue scoffs, stating that Xiao Bai can destroy his immortality fruit, but he has come to retrieve his "Little Chunhua." He then publicly exposes Chunhua as Hua Xiaolei, revealing she has a bud-like birthmark on her clavicle, and shockingly claims that despite her long-standing engagement with Xiao Bai, she had already "slept" with him. Xiao Bai is left dumbfounded by the bombshell.

Chunhua, on the verge of breakdown, desperately cries out to Xiao Bai that she is just Chunhua, not Hua Xiaolei. Shangguan Qiuyue, ignoring her plea, asserts that she cannot marry anyone without his permission and declares his intention to take her back to Thousand Moon Cave, before sweeping her up and departing. He mentally recites a poem about a phoenix seeking its mate, lamenting that failure to be together brings ruin.

As Xiao Bai attempts to pursue them, he is immediately blocked by the various Wulin sects, who relentlessly demand he hand over the immortality fruit. Despite his attempts to postpone the discussion, they insist on having it immediately. Furious, Xiao Bai warns them, asking who among them dares to face the true Xiaoxiao Fengming Swordsmanship, and fiercely repels them with his blade. A sudden, heavy rain begins to fall.

Xiao Bai, utterly heartbroken, uses his sword to tear Chunhua's bridal veil into shreds. Meanwhile, Shangguan Qiuyue carries a distraught Chunhua away, welcoming her "home" to Thousand Moon Cave. Chunhua protests, asserting that Thousand Moon Cave is not her home, and accuses Shangguan Qiuyue of humiliating both her and Xiao Bai, pushing her into despair. Shangguan Qiuyue, however, justifies his actions by claiming he is merely helping her "cut losses in time" and sever ties with Fengming Manor. Chunhua tearfully questions why he consistently seeks to separate her from Xiao Bai.
