Tang Xin, after saying a temporary goodbye to her pet hedgehog, informed her boss, Mr. Zhou, that she would be taking leave to care for Shen Qingyuan. She assured him she would keep up with her work and that Shen Qingyuan would help handle the public relations crisis surrounding Chen Hai's accident. Meanwhile, Shen Qingyuan made a brief appearance on a livestream from his hospital room, sparking concern and controversy among viewers.
Noticing his hospital gown, many expressed worry, while others accused him of bullying Chen Hai and labeled him a "two-faced hypocrite." When Tang Xin returned and saw the hateful comments, she immediately began defending him online. Overcome with concern, Tang Xin embraced Shen Qingyuan, realizing her intimacy issues didn't flare up when she was focused on comforting him. Shen Qingyuan held her close, warming her cold hands, and urged her not to engage with online trolls.
He explained that he didn't mind being labeled a bully if it deflected blame from Chen Hai, who would otherwise be crushed by guilt. Their moment was interrupted when a nurse entered to change his dressing. The team teased the couple, joking about Shen Qingyuan gaining weight under Tang Xin’s care and suggesting the hospital add private rooms for couples. They brought training equipment, explaining that Coach Zhang, busy dealing with the media, had given them leave to visit. After Shen Qingyuan reassured them he hadn't broken any bones, Chen Hai apologized for his mistake during the assessment. He revealed his punishment: a month of empty-gun drills and cleaning duty.
Shen Qingyuan, however, told him not to feel guilty and appointed him Acting Captain, instructing him to keep an eye on the others. He then took a photo of Chen Hai's heavily calloused hand and posted it on Weibo with the caption, "A single mistake cannot erase over a decade of hard work."
While this post successfully shifted public sympathy towards Chen Hai, Mr. Zhou noted that some online commenters remained skeptical, questioning if the hand was truly Chen Hai's and continuing to attack Shen Qingyuan. To further improve his public image, Tang Xin tried to coach Shen Qingyuan on how to livestream, but he was stiff and unnatural on camera. Their stay was disrupted by a new couple next door. The boyfriend, pampered by his girlfriend Shanshan, constantly demanded attention. Annoyed, Shen Qingyuan asked Tang Xin if she also prioritized looks, to which she playfully replied that while the man she liked was good-looking, a sense of humor was more important. This led Shen Qingyuan to try and post a social media update officially announcing their relationship, but they argued playfully over his "tacky" and "silly" caption. Tang Liqi visited, remarking on how the doting Shanshan catered to her boyfriend's every whim.
He told Tang Xin her video had solved a major PR problem and that he'd brought calligraphy supplies to help a bored Shen Qingyuan pass the time. Tang Liqi was initially impressed by Shen Qingyuan's artistic strokes, but his "masterpiece" turned out to be a menu of dishes he was craving, including "Lotus Boneless Chicken" and "West Lake Beef Soup." Amused, Tang Xin and Tang Liqi realized he was simply hungry.
Later, Shi Xiaoci found Tang Xin and confided in her, admitting her mistake during the assessment was because she was distracted by Du Lingfeng. She recounted a painful childhood of being bullied for her weight, which culminated in a shooting coach rejecting her for a "prettier" girl despite her talent.
This experience fueled her determination to succeed but also left her with deep-seated resentment toward being judged on appearances, which caused her friction with Du Lingfeng, whose careless words sometimes reminded her of her old bullies. Tang Xin astutely suggested that Shi Xiaoci's inability to be vulnerable with Du Lingfeng was precisely because he meant so much to her. She helped Shi Xiaoci realize her distress over his recent coldness was a sign of love.
