Shi Xiaoci emerged from the bathroom just as Tang Xin finished a phone call about the "R-rated livestreaming" accusation, having overheard the conversation. Shi Xiaoci urged Tang Xin not to give up, insisting she couldn't possibly be involved and that her superiors must be blind to think so. Meanwhile, Chen Hai arrived late for training. His teammates noted that while the coach had previously let an early departure slide, this time he would surely be written up.
Chen Hai apologized and accepted any penalty, but Shen Qingyuan directly exposed Chen Hai's side job as a private trainer. He stated that such a serious violation meant participating in the upcoming winter training would be a waste of team resources. Infuriated, Chen Hai grabbed a thermos and threw it at Shen Qingyuan. Seeing Tang Xin was in the line of fire, Shen Qingyuan instinctively blocked the thermos with his own arm, taking the blow.
Du Lingfeng sarcastically dismissed the injury, but Shi Xiaoci countered, emphasizing the critical importance of a shooter's arm. This defense of Shen Qingyuan further annoyed the jealous Du Lingfeng. Tang Xin rushed Shen Qingyuan to the infirmary. As she iced his arm, she realized he had intentionally taken the hit to protect her.
Overcome with emotion, Tang Xin began to cry, speaking about feeling like a failure and how, despite her best efforts, she only messed things up and burdened those around her. When Shen Qingyuan pressed her for the real reason she was upset, she deflected. After the confrontation, Chen Hai went to Coach Zhang's office and requested a quit form. When Shen Qingyuan and Tang Xin returned, Chen Hai was gone.
Tang Xin encouraged Shen Qingyuan to talk to him, convinced there was a deeper reason for his actions, and Shen Qingyuan agreed. The next morning, Shen Qingyuan gathered the team to find Chen Hai. They intercepted him as he was leaving with his luggage and a quit form. Teammates tried to persuade him to stay, reminding him that quitting the team meant dropping out of the university and losing his master's degree.
Chen Hai, however, was adamant, calling the team a "crappy place." He emotionally confessed that he didn't want to be perceived as someone who only cared about money and longed to be a pure shooter, free from financial worries. When Shen Qingyuan asked if he had financial difficulties, Chen Hai left without a word. Coach Zhang later summoned Shen Qingyuan, entrusting him to handle the situation.
He advised the captain to show more care for his teammates beyond training, explaining that rules are meant to aid people, not just be rigid obstacles. Convinced by Tang Xin that there was a hidden story, Shen Qingyuan then asked Jiang Yitian to lead him and Tang Xin to Chen Hai's home. That evening, Tang Xin edited a video, considering it her final piece of work for the shooting team.
Her boss, Zhou Zuguang, called to praise her efficiency, then advised her to rest at home until the official decision on her situation was made. The next day, Shen Qingyuan, Jiang Yitian, and Tang Xin found Chen Hai at the Haiya People's Hospital. From a distance, Shen Qingyuan watched Chen Hai plead with a doctor about his mother's treatment and get denied a salary advance from his side job at the Double-gun Club.
He then overheard Chen Hai's mother suggest leaving the hospital due to the cost, but Chen Hai tearfully insisted she stay, falsely claiming the money was handled. Shen Qingyuan left silently to rejoin Tang Xin and Jiang Yitian outside. Back at the university, Shen Qingyuan organized a fundraiser. Du Lingfeng teased that the thoughtful idea must have come from Tang Xin. After everyone pitched in, Du Lingfeng generously covered the remaining medical costs, earning praise from the team.
Chen Hai soon learned at the hospital that a "Mr. Shen" had paid the bill and then received a text from Shen Qingyuan summoning him to training. Chen Hai returned to the team. Shen Qingyuan gave him a choice: quit to be a private coach or stay and strive for higher honors. Chen Hai chose to stay, admitting his "crappy place" comment was said in anger.
He accepted a written warning, promised to make up for missed training, and thanked everyone, especially Shen Qingyuan and Du Lingfeng. The team welcomed him back, urging him to share his problems in the future. Later, Coach Zhang discussed Chen Hai's past with Dr. Ding, the team's counselor.
He revealed that Chen Hai was once a top shooter who won the Youth Games, but he developed psychological issues after the Olympics when rules changed to allow audience noise, which he couldn't adapt to. The coach lamented the past lack of psychological support and asked Dr. Ding, who had similar experiences, to connect with the athletes. Shen Qingyuan then took Tang Xin shoe shopping to find a comfortable pair for her.
He explicitly asked her to attend his upcoming national championship. On competition day, a new host named Ai was livestreaming. Both Zhou Zuguang and Du Lingfeng were annoyed with her poor commentary and lack of audience interaction, with Du Lingfeng openly missing Tang Xin. During a break, Shen Qingyuan searched the stands for Tang Xin but couldn't find her.
He had already learned about her work situation from Shi Xiaoci, and the two were seen secretly discussing a plan to help her, a sight that reignited Du Lingfeng's jealousy. Shortly after, the finalists were called to the stage.
