During a stop at a gas station, the rescue team took a quick break before continuing their journey. As they neared the mountain, they navigated a path strewn with fallen rocks under increasingly gloomy skies. By nightfall, a heavy downpour began. Pressing on, their progress was halted by a major landslide that blocked the road. With their vehicles unable to pass and the debris too large to move, they decided to cover the remaining fifteen kilometers on foot.
Before setting off, Su Qingche checked Song Xingchen's gear to ensure her safety. He then briefed the team, stressing the need to be cautious and to move with greater speed than in training to get the vaccines to the village on time. As they jogged along the mountain path, they were met by welcoming villagers who had come to guide them. The vaccines were delivered successfully.
The next day, under a clear sky, the village chief brought them a local breakfast. He explained that some elderly residents lived in a remote village deeper in the mountains and rarely came down, asking if the team’s doctors could accompany the local clinic’s Dr. Chen to administer their vaccines. Su Qingche agreed. Meanwhile, when teammate Han Xiaoli unexpectedly got her period, Song Xingchen offered her a tampon, explaining its convenience and dispelling common myths.
Though initially hesitant about the unfamiliar product, Han Xiaoli decided to try it. Song Xingchen and Su Qingche, guided by Dr. Chen, ventured into the mountains to vaccinate the elderly. After Song Xingchen administered an injection, a child suffered a sudden allergic reaction, his pulse weakening rapidly. Song Xingchen calmly took charge, directing Dr. Chen and performing CPR and artificial respiration until the child was stabilized.
As they prepared to leave, they learned a landslide had collapsed the road back, forcing them to stay overnight at a villager's home. The kind grandmother hosting them mistook them for a married couple and prepared a single room for them. Later, while Song Xingchen was bathing in the hot water Su Qingche had prepared, she let out a startled cry. Su Qingche rushed in, creating an intensely awkward moment as he inadvertently saw her.
After they both changed into clothes borrowed from the villagers, Song Xingchen finally revealed the source of her recent melancholy. She confessed her disappointment after learning that the professor she hoped to study under for her Ph. D. was no longer accepting students due to health reasons.
She also explained that she had quit her previous job at a private hospital because its focus on quotas conflicted with her principles, and she had invested her savings to help Han Xiaoli's struggling business. Relieved her sadness wasn't about him, Su Qingche encouraged her. Song Xingchen admitted that the trip had rekindled her sense of purpose as a doctor, thanking him for helping her reaffirm her path. Later, the old house began to leak during the rain.
Once it stopped, Su Qingche went to repair the roof but accidentally injured his shoulder with a falling tile. Back in the city, Song Xingchen insisted on taking Su Qingche for a tetanus shot, quickly realizing he was afraid of needles. Citing her medical license, she offered to give him the injection herself. He refused until she declared she would do it in her capacity as his "family member," a status with only one vacancy.
At this, he relented and began taking off his shirt, just as Han Xiaoli and Lu Qun arrived to peek from the doorway. Misunderstanding where the shot would be administered, Su Qingche was teased by Song Xingchen, who noted it could be given in his arm. While they were distracted, Lu Qun and Han Xiaoli were pushed from behind and stumbled into the room, falling into an embrace.
To give the pair some privacy, Lu Qun quickly pulled Han Xiaoli away, offering to drive her home. During the drive, he further solidified her suspicion that he was a playboy by asking for "cute" lingerie recommendations for a "friend" and mentioning he had to pick up Gao Qingyin, a woman he and Su Qingche considered a sister. Later, after Song Xingchen fell asleep in the car, Su Qingche drove her home.
As he walked her to her building, she noticed he had a fever and insisted he come upstairs. At her apartment, he feigned sleep after she took his temperature, but she saw through his act. After he took medicine, Su Qingche tried to ask for advice for a "friend" trying to win over a girl. Understanding he was talking about them, Song Xingchen told him that a mature woman dislikes ambiguity and wants to be clearly claimed.
She then told him he could "possess" her now. However, when she turned back, she found he had genuinely fallen asleep, once again missing his chance. Sighing at his "wooden" cluelessness, she simply covered him with a blanket.
