Go Ahead Episode 29 Recap
> Go Ahead Recap
Ling Xiao, believing he has lost the ability to form intimate relationships with strangers, regards Li Jianjian as essential for his "self-rescue," metaphorically seeing himself in a swamp needing her to pull him out. He declares that if Li Jianjian does not marry him, he will wait for her for a lifetime, and if she were to marry someone else and not divorce, he would remain her brother forever.
Li Jianjian, though not fully understanding his profound words, promises to always reach out and grab his hand. Their intimate moment, as Ling Xiao cups Li Jianjian's face attempting to kiss her, is twice interrupted by He Ziqiu entering the room. Both times, Li Jianjian quickly covers their interaction by claiming they were just playing around, which He Ziqiu believes. Li Jianjian also expresses worries about marrying Ling Xiao, fearing potential exclusion from his mother, Chen Ting, and sister.
The following morning, Qi Mingyue advises Li Jianjian to clarify her relationship with Ling Xiao soon, as prolonged secrecy could negatively impact the brotherly bond between Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu, a concern that only heightens Li Jianjian's distress. Li Jianjian later tells Qi Mingyue about He Ziqiu's financial plight and asks her to stop calling him a "rich second generation." He Ziqiu's dessert shop faces severe business difficulties, relying on discounts to attract students.
He Mei, Li Haichao's friend, introduces her friend, Auntie Luo Hong, to evaluate the shop. Luo Hong suggests lowering costs, offering cheaper beverages and desserts, and implementing promotional activities during summer to attract students, also offering to plan his operational strategies. However, He Ziqiu recognizes Luo Hong as He Mei's friend, not Li Haichao's, and, suspecting Li Haichao requested He Mei's help, refuses her assistance out of pride.
A "guidance teacher" also inspects He Ziqiu's business, confirming its over-reliance on students but noting that nearby training schools could still provide customers during school holidays. At lunch, He Ziqiu exposes Li Haichao's lie about Luo Hong and asks him to cease contact with He Mei.
Li Haichao then questions Li Jianjian and He Ziqiu about their relationship, which Li Jianjian vehemently denies, jokingly stating He Ziqiu's desire to be on the Li family's household register has been "cured" by her. After lunch, Li Jianjian discovers He Ziqiu using a credit card to pay employees. She questions his finances, mistakenly assuming his startup capital came from Zhao Huaguang, and asks why he isn't seeking more funds from his birth father.
He Ziqiu angrily reveals that after he refused to call Zhao Huaguang "dad" or change his surname abroad, Zhao Huaguang imposed financial sanctions. Aside from the first two years, He Ziqiu funded himself by working abroad, saving every penny for his business, and he intentionally kept these struggles from Li Haichao to spare him worry. Li Jianjian informs Ling Xiao of the situation, and together they confront He Ziqiu.
Ling Xiao suggests closing the struggling shop, but He Ziqiu adamantly refuses, unwilling to see his efforts wasted, and asserting that closing the shop would make them a laughingstock, especially if people knew Li Haichao had sought He Mei's help. Li Jianjian, expecting a copyright fee soon, offers to financially assist He Ziqiu. Ling Xiao, however, stops her, cautioning that without a proper business strategy, it would be a "bottomless pit."
This leads to a minor spat; Li Jianjian feels Ling Xiao is always discouraging her and He Ziqiu, while Ling Xiao perceives their actions as excluding him. After a brief argument, Ling Xiao retreats to his room, feigning anger. Li Jianjian follows to appease him, only to find him smirking behind the door, teasing her for taking twenty-seven seconds to respond to her "angry boyfriend." It is then that Li Jianjian fully comprehends the shift in their relationship.
They agree to keep their romantic relationship a secret from He Ziqiu for the time being. Later, He Ziqiu goes to buy fruits, and Li Jianjian, remembering his financial troubles, quickly follows to pay, despite Ling Xiao's attempt to stop her, fearing it would upset He Ziqiu. As Ling Xiao predicted, He Ziqiu is angered by Li Jianjian's attempt to pay, and they argue.
Li Jianjian believes that as family, supporting each other is natural, but He Ziqiu insists he should be the one to support her, not the other way around, unable to accept her financial assistance. After Li Jianjian leaves, Tang Can emerges and attempts to console He Ziqiu, but he sharply rebuffs her.
Angrily, Tang Can asks him to relay a message to Zhuang Bei: her gift of a necklace to Zhuang Bei's mother was situational, and she will not subsidize men like Li Jianjian, adding that she will no longer meet with Zhuang Bei. Tang Can later apologizes to Li Jianjian for past issues, and they reconcile. Tang Can also confesses to Li Jianjian that she has given up on Zhuang Bei.
At a celebration for Li Jianjian's studio selling derivative copyrights, Tang Can speaks with Zhuang Bei. She asks him to instruct his mother to stop ordering from her online shop. Hesitantly, Tang Can then asks about his feelings for her. Zhuang Bei states he finds her lovely but admits he has feelings for someone else, whose identity he keeps secret as he hasn't confessed yet.
Tang Can pretends to be unfazed and encourages him, but later breaks down into a fit of tears in the restroom. Meanwhile, Du Juan, unaware of Li Jianjian's relationship with Ling Xiao, warns Li Jianjian against becoming too absorbed in sibling romance comics.
