The three reconciled and promised to stay the same as they used to be. Just as the mood was good, He Ziqiu suddenly said he needed to use the bathroom, so Ling Xiao helped him. As soon as Ling Xiao left, Qin Meiyang called his phone. Li Jianjian, who was tipsy and didn’t see clearly, answered it.
Qin Meiyang recognized her voice and asked when Ling Xiao would return, saying that Ling Xiao told them he would go back to Singapore in a month. When she got no reply, she asked Li Jianjian to tell Ling Xiao to call her back. The news made Li Jianjian a bit upset, and she didn’t feel like singing with Qi Mingyue and the others anymore.
When Ling Xiao came out of the bathroom, he saw Li Jianjian sleeping on the sofa and carried her back to her room. After the party, Tang Can enthusiastically walked Zhuang Bei to the elevator, but Zhuang Bei only had Qi Mingyue on his mind. Before leaving, he even took a photo of Qi Mingyue and Tang Can. Tang Can thought he wanted a picture of her and didn’t realize he liked Qi Mingyue.
After settling Li Jianjian in her room, Ling Xiao returned to his room, turned on the light, and found it had been thoughtfully redecorated. Li Jianjian had even prepared a bedtime book for him. The next morning, Ling Xiao asked if Li Jianjian had answered Qin Meiyang’s call. He was worried about what Qin Meiyang might have said to her. Li Jianjian didn’t tell him the truth and just told him to call her back.
She later secretly told He Ziqiu about it. She guessed that Ling Xiao had lied to Chen Ting and Qin Meiyang, but she didn’t know how to help him in this situation. Aunt Qian arranged a blind date for Li Haichao, but he backed out at the last minute. Aunt Qian was annoyed and asked Ling Heping to help persuade him.
While chatting, she asked the shop assistant Xiao Zhu where Li Haichao had gone, only to find out he had gone to the café to see He Ziqiu. Li Haichao brought him some pan-fried dumplings, and as He Ziqiu ate, they chatted. Li Haichao asked whether He Ziqiu had ever thought of looking for He Mei. He even offered to help find her contact info, but He Ziqiu refused, saying after so many years, He Mei had probably forgotten him.
Even if he found her, he wouldn’t know what to say. Though He Ziqiu told Li Haichao he didn’t want to look for He Mei, he still asked Zhuang Bei about where she went after getting off the bus that day. That night, Li Jianjian invited Ling Xiao for a night jog. She told him his anxiety was a mental block and that he needed to open up.
Ling Xiao said only a “heart cure” could heal a heart problem—and Li Jianjian was his cure. She found it cheesy, but Ling Xiao was serious, saying the room she decorated helped him relax. Li Jianjian mentioned that next Saturday would be the 21st anniversary of her mother’s death. She regretted not understanding things when she was younger, refusing to accept a stepmother, and leaving her father alone to raise her.
She also mentioned how she had strongly opposed his relationship with He Mei. She felt that her resistance might have contributed to He Mei leaving. Back then, she didn’t understand why people got married. Now that she’s grown up and Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu are back, the three of them can support their dads together from now on. Li Jianjian went to the hospital for a dental check-up, and Qi Mingyue also had an appointment for a cleaning.
It was Feng Xixi who performed her cleaning. When Ling Xiao checked Li Jianjian’s teeth, she brought up Zheng Shuran, asking him not to be so harsh on him. She said that even though Zheng Shuran kept staring at girls, he wasn’t actually a pervert. Ling Xiao said he simply didn’t like him. When Li Jianjian asked why, Ling Xiao didn’t answer and said he would tell her after he got back from Singapore.
The mention of Singapore made Li Jianjian nervous. Ling Xiao comforted her, saying he was only going there to take care of some matters and would be back before her mother’s memorial. Meanwhile, as Feng Xixi was preparing to clean Qi Mingyue’s teeth, she asked if she knew about Ling Xiao’s crush on a junior. Qi Mingyue was secretly pleased and assumed that girl was her.
She told Li Jianjian about it, but Li Jianjian was too preoccupied with the news of Ling Xiao going back to Singapore to care. Jin Yuxiang asked Qi Mingyue to have dinner with Aunt Chen. When Qi Mingyue arrived at the restaurant, Jin Yuxiang revealed that she invited her to meet a man from Aunt Chen’s workplace for a blind date. Qi Mingyue was caught off guard. The man, Lu Jianyang, soon arrived, and Aunt Chen quickly introduced them.
Halfway through the meal, Qi Mingyue tried to excuse herself, claiming she had work, but Jin Yuxiang wouldn’t let her go. Qi Mingyue had no choice but to say she already liked someone and asked Jin Yuxiang to stop setting her up. Under pressure, she promised to bring the person she liked home in a few days. Jin Yuxiang also told her not to consider working in Beijing and to focus on preparing for the civil service exam.
Zheng Shuran waited for Li Jianjian at He Ziqiu’s café. Seeing him sketching other girls, He Ziqiu got annoyed and said as long as he was around, Zheng Shuran shouldn’t even think about entering the Li family. Zheng Shuran retorted that He Ziqiu had freeloaded off the Li family for years and ran away as soon as his wealthy father showed up. He Ziqiu didn’t want to argue with him.
When Li Jianjian arrived, He Ziqiu immediately pointed out how Zheng Shuran was getting close to other girls and urged her to break up. But Li Jianjian didn’t really care. While out sketching with Zheng Shuran, she mentioned that Ling Xiao was going back to Singapore and was torn about whether to buy a farewell gift. She also worried that once he left, he might never come back.
Tang Can, on behalf of Zhuang Bei, went to keep his mother company by playing mahjong and chatting. Zhuang’s mother was very fond of Tang Can and had a great time talking to her. When she learned that Tang Can had a poor relationship with her own mother, she encouraged her to try to understand her more.
