Li Jianjian, Ling Xiao, and He Ziqiu reconcile and agree to return to their old camaraderie. He Ziqiu suddenly needs to use the restroom, and Ling Xiao accompanies him. While Ling Xiao is away, Qin Meiyang calls Ling Xiao. Li Jianjian, slightly drunk, answers Ling Xiao's phone. Qin Meiyang recognizes Li Jianjian's voice and asks when Ling Xiao will return, mentioning that Ling Xiao told them he would be back in Singapore in a month.
Li Jianjian is upset by this news and loses interest in singing with Qi Mingyue and Tang Can. Ling Xiao finds Li Jianjian asleep on the sofa and carries her to her room. After the gathering, Tang Can enthusiastically sees Zhuang Bei to the elevator. Zhuang Bei, however, is only interested in Qi Mingyue. He takes a picture of Qi Mingyue and Tang Can before leaving, but Tang Can mistakenly believes he is interested in her.
Ling Xiao returns to his meticulously decorated room, complete with bedtime reading material prepared by Li Jianjian. The next morning, Ling Xiao asks Li Jianjian if she answered Qin Meiyang's call, worried about what Qin Meiyang might have said. Li Jianjian doesn't reveal the truth, only telling him to return Qin Meiyang's call. Li Jianjian confides in He Ziqiu, suspecting Ling Xiao is deceiving Chen Ting and Qin Meiyang. She feels helpless in this situation.
Mrs. Qian arranges a blind date for Li Haichao, but he avoids it. Mrs. Qian, displeased, asks Ling Heping to persuade Li Haichao. Mrs. Qian inquires with Xiaozhu, a shop assistant, about Li Haichao's whereabouts and learns he is at He Ziqiu's cafe. Li Haichao brings He Ziqiu fried dumplings. They talk, and Li Haichao asks if He Ziqiu has ever considered finding He Mei, offering to help him find her contact information.
He Ziqiu declines, believing He Mei has likely forgotten him and unsure what to say even if he found her. Although he tells Li Haichao he doesn't want to find He Mei, he still asks Zhuang Bei where He Mei went after getting into a car that day. That evening, Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao go for a night run. Li Jianjian says Ling Xiao's anxiety disorder is a mental issue and needs to be approached optimistically.
Ling Xiao responds that a mental illness needs a mental cure, and Li Jianjian is his cure. Li Jianjian finds this cheesy, but Ling Xiao is serious, saying her decorating made him feel relaxed. Li Jianjian mentions her mother's 21st death anniversary is next week, and she regrets her childhood behavior, refusing a stepmother and leaving Li Haichao to raise them alone for so long. She also feels responsible for He Mei's departure, as she strongly opposed their relationship.
Now that she is older and Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu are back, she wants them to take care of their fathers. Li Jianjian goes to the dentist. Qi Mingyue has also scheduled a teeth cleaning appointment with Feng Xixi. While Ling Xiao is examining Li Jianjian's teeth, she mentions Zheng Shuran, asking Ling Xiao not to be so harsh on him, stating that Zheng Shuran isn't lecherous despite looking at girls.
Ling Xiao says he simply dislikes Zheng Shuran, but refuses to give a reason, promising to tell Li Jianjian after he returns from Singapore. Hearing that Ling Xiao is returning to Singapore, Li Jianjian is worried. Ling Xiao assures her he is only going to Singapore for business and will return before her mother's death anniversary. Meanwhile, Feng Xixi asks Qi Mingyue if she knows that Ling Xiao has a crush on a female student.
Qi Mingyue is secretly delighted, believing that Ling Xiao is talking about her. Qi Mingyue tells Li Jianjian about this, but Li Jianjian is preoccupied with Ling Xiao's trip to Singapore. Jin Yuxiang invites Qi Mingyue to dinner with Mrs. Chen, only to reveal that it is a setup for a blind date with a civil servant from Mrs. Chen's workplace named Lu Jianyang. Qi Mingyue is caught off guard.
Halfway through the meal, Qi Mingyue tries to leave, claiming work commitments, but Jin Yuxiang stops her. Qi Mingyue then says she already has someone she likes and doesn't want any further setups. Provoked by Jin Yuxiang, Qi Mingyue promises to bring the person she likes home in a couple of days. Jin Yuxiang also tells Qi Mingyue not to think about working in Beijing and to focus on preparing for the civil service exam.
Zheng Shuran waits for Li Jianjian at He Ziqiu's cafe. He Ziqiu becomes angry when he sees Zheng Shuran drawing other girls and says that as long as he is around, Zheng Shuran won't get into the Li family. Zheng Shuran retorts that He Ziqiu has been eating and drinking for free in the Li family for years and ran away as soon as his wealthy father came. He Ziqiu doesn't want to argue with Zheng Shuran.
When Li Jianjian arrives, He Ziqiu shows her the drawings of other girls, urging her to break up with Zheng Shuran. Li Jianjian is unfazed. While they are sketching outdoors, Li Jianjian talks about Ling Xiao's upcoming trip to Singapore, debating whether to buy him a farewell gift and worrying that he might not come back. Tang Can, at Zhuang Bei's request, accompanies Zhuang's mother to play mahjong and chat. Zhuang's mother takes a liking to Tang Can.
Upon learning about Tang Can's strained relationship with her own mother, she advises Tang Can to be more understanding. During this time Li Jianjian is drunkenly resting on both Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu's shoulders. Ling Xiao feels a spark of emotion. Feng Xixi believes Ling Xiao is in a long distance relationship but Ling Xiao denies the theory and mentions that he is fond of a junior student in the local area.
He Ziqiu snatches Zheng Shuran's drawings from three nearby girls, they compliment Zheng Shuran's drawings. Li Jianjian is conflicted to see these drawings. Li Jianjian tells Zheng Shuran to buy a gift for Ling Xiao before he goes to Singapore.
