Zhuang Bei helped Tang Can drive Mr. Li away. Tang Can quickly returned the fountain pen she carried with her to Zhuang Bei, but Zhuang Bei said he had many pens like that and gave it to her as a gift. After learning about Tang Can’s job, Zhuang Bei asked if she could do him a favor. Li Jianjian met with Ran, whose real name is Zheng Shuran.
While browsing Zheng Shuran’s Weibo, Qi Mingyue found out that he had met with Li Jianjian and noticed he had posted a strange message. Qi Mingyue became worried something might have happened to Li Jianjian and called her, but no one answered. She quickly informed Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu, who also became very anxious and even went to the police station to ask Ling Heping to file a report.
Ling Heping remained calm and said he would call Li Haichao to check. Only then did they find out that Li Jianjian was at the noodle shop having a meal with Zheng Shuran. Upon hearing this, He Ziqiu and Ling Xiao rushed to the noodle shop to find her. They both looked at Zheng Shuran with hostility, staring at him without blinking. Li Jianjian quickly introduced Zheng Shuran to Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu.
The award-winning work that Li Jianjian created had used Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu as prototypes. Realizing this, Zheng Shuran became excited and started discussing artistic creation with Li Jianjian. Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu were confused and couldn’t help interrupting him, asking if he had proposed dating only after meeting Li Jianjian. Zheng Shuran admitted he had. After sending Zheng Shuran off, the three returned to Li Haichao’s home for dinner.
At the table, Ling Xiao brought up Zheng Shuran, believing he was only interested in Li Jianjian because of her looks. He also pointed out that Zheng Shuran had graduated years ago but was still living off his parents. As he spoke, Ling Xiao asked Li Jianjian to call Zheng Shuran and break up with him. He Ziqiu chimed in to support him.
Li Jianjian became angry, telling them not to interfere with her life and that they had already caused a huge impact on it. In her frustration, she let out everything she had been holding in, even saying that they weren’t her real brothers and didn’t need to treat her so well. Ling Xiao was hurt and asked if she had always wanted to say that. Then he left Li’s house directly.
Li Haichao couldn’t help but scold Li Jianjian and reminded her of the bond the three of them had growing up together. On his way home, Ling Xiao recalled how when they were little, he and Li Jianjian were walking home after school. She begged for candy, but he refused to buy it. Li Jianjian then squatted by the roadside and refused to move. Ling Xiao walked ahead in frustration but turned around to find her missing.
He searched frantically and eventually discovered that Li Jianjian had nearly been abducted. He rushed over and held her tightly, refusing to let go. Only after a passerby called the police was she saved. After this incident, Li Haichao was extremely grateful to Ling Heping and Ling Xiao and even asked Li Jianjian to acknowledge Ling Heping as her godfather. After dinner, He Ziqiu apologized to Li Jianjian.
But Li Jianjian said that He Ziqiu and the others didn’t owe her anything and didn’t need to make up for anything. Otherwise, she would feel emotionally burdened. He Ziqiu said he did owe her. Li Jianjian tried to reason with him, saying the past was over and everyone had grown up. She couldn’t cling to her brothers like she did when they were young. He Ziqiu was upset and asked if she didn’t want him anymore.
Feeling irritated, Li Jianjian told him to go find his own family. At home, Ling Heping and Li Haichao discussed what happened. Ling Heping asked Li Haichao what he planned to do, but Li Haichao said it was their internal conflict and they should resolve it themselves. The next morning, He Ziqiu still came to Li Jianjian’s house to make breakfast. But seeing how awkward she looked, he left right after cooking.
Only then did Li Jianjian come out and have breakfast with Tang Can and Qi Mingyue. The three talked about Zheng Shuran. Qi Mingyue asked if Li Jianjian’s heart raced when she met Zheng Shuran or if she would be nervous introducing him to her family. Li Jianjian couldn’t answer, and Qi Mingyue concluded she must not like Zheng Shuran. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have introduced him to her family on their first meeting.
Both Qi Mingyue and Tang Can felt that Li Jianjian couldn’t distinguish between liking a friend and liking a romantic partner. Li Jianjian also admitted she wasn’t sure—her main purpose was just to create better art. While they were chatting, the doorbell rang. Qi Mingyue opened the door and found Jin Yuxiang, who brought them food and started cleaning the house.
