Ning Que carried the severely injured Sangsang, making his way out of the temple, only to be blocked by disciples from Sect Tian Qing. He fought relentlessly, but one disciple struck Sangsang's back with a staff, causing her to vomit blood. Enraged, Ning Que immediately killed the assailant. Meanwhile, Mo Shanshan used a powerful divine talisman to create a barrier, holding back Qu Ni and Bao Shu.

Master Qi Shan, despite his own grave injuries, struggled to rise and used his cultivation to help Ning Que and Sangsang escape from the hall. As Ning Que and Sangsang reached the foot of the mountain, their path was once again obstructed, this time by Universe Traveler Qi Nian of Sect Tian Qing. Qi Nian trapped them within an impenetrable barrier. Ning Que's desperate attempts to break free were futile, and Sangsang grew weaker, sensing her end was near.

Ning Que was overcome with despair, pleading with her not to die. Elsewhere, Sage, sensing Ning Que's predicament, decided to intervene. His disciple Chen Pipi, concerned, questioned why Sage would allow such harm to befall Ning Que, especially since it was Sage who had instructed Ning Que to take Sangsang for treatment. Sage, acknowledging the situation, dispatched Slow Li for rescue, while Jun Mo was already hurrying towards Mount Wa.

Slow Li, known for his incredible speed despite his name, departed swiftly, prompting Sage to comment on his usual haste. Jun Mo, eager to prove himself, declared his determination not to be outdone by Slow Li’s “No-Distance” ability. Cornered and helpless, Ning Que extended his large black umbrella to shield himself and Sangsang from Qi Nian's relentless attacks. Just as hope dwindled, Slow Li and Jun Mo arrived, uniting their powers to defeat Qi Nian and shatter his barrier.

Ning Que and Sangsang seized the opportunity, fleeing to their waiting carriage, which sped away. Their escape was short-lived as the carriage was abruptly halted by a multitude of swords. Jun Mo and Slow Li immediately recognized them as belonging to Sword Saint Liu Bai of South Jin Sword Pavilion. Without hesitation, Slow Li confronted Liu Bai, despite the immense danger. During their encounter, Slow Li suffered severe injuries, with two hundred and six of his bones broken.

Liu Bai, expressing his surprise at the Academy's apparent madness, urged Slow Li to abandon his futile efforts, warning him of certain death. Yet, Slow Li remained steadfast, refusing to yield. Liu Bai reluctantly withdrew his swords but questioned why the esteemed Master Qi Shan would shield the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased. Meanwhile, Master Qi Shan, weakened by his injuries, also made his way to protect Ning Que and Sangsang. Jun Mo confronted Bao Shu and Qu Ni.

When Bao Shu defiantly pressed his attack, Jun Mo inflicted a severe injury upon him. Qu Ni loudly protested. Master Qi Shan sent a message, advising Jun Mo to cease fighting, as the fate of Ning Que and the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased remained uncertain after the destruction of the chessboard.

Qi Nian, recovering from his defeat, openly criticized Master Qi Shan for protecting the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased, accusing him of risking the condemnation of the entire world. Master Qi Shan calmly asserted that his actions were for the protection of humanity, though his chosen path differed from theirs, and time would reveal the truth of his pursuit of genuine light.

He concluded by declaring that Sect Tian Qing had been broken and urged everyone to look out for themselves. Back at the Academy, Sage led his disciples in prayer for Ning Que and Sangsang's safe return. Chen Pipi, aware of Sage's profound wisdom, realized that Sage must have known Sangsang's true identity all along but chose to protect her nonetheless.

Sage acknowledged that everyone, including himself, harbored the same questions about Sangsang's identity, and admitted that, like Master Qi Shan, he too had recognized her true nature. Having expended her cultivation and suffered serious injuries while protecting Ning Que, Mo Shanshan was escorted back to Dahe State by her fellow disciples. On their journey, they encountered Luo Kedi, who demanded to take Mo Shanshan to Xiong Chumo at Peach Mountain.

Mo Shanshan refused, vehemently denying that Sangsang was the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased, recounting Ning Que and Sangsang's shared history of hardship as proof. She questioned the reliability of the Yulan Bell, arguing that if even Sage couldn't discern Sangsang's true nature, then the "holy relic" was merely a useless trinket. However, Mo Shanshan and her companions were eventually overpowered.

Simultaneously, the High Priest of Oracle arrived at Peach Mountain with his followers to confront Xiong Chumo, insisting that Sangsang was the true successor of High Priest of Light, not the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased, and demanded a thorough investigation. Xiong Chumo, however, dismissed their pleas, coldly questioning their judgment and loyalty to the Western Shrine. When they remained defiant, he ruthlessly executed them.

The High Priest of Oracle, furious at Xiong Chumo's indiscriminate slaughter, accused him of abusing his authority and questioned his own past actions concerning Sangsang. Defiantly, the High Priest of Oracle asserted the autonomy of the Oracle House before storming out. Xiong Chumo then declared that he would await Tang State's response to the situation.

Upon hearing the events at Mount Wa, King Li Zhongyi of Tang State scoffed at the notion of Sangsang being the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased. Concerned for Ning Que and Sangsang, who were being pursued by cultivators from various states, he immediately ordered Guard Commander Xu Chongshan to mobilize the Imperial Guard and cavalry with heavy armor to rendezvous with Ning Que.

Li Zhongyi declared that any cultivator, regardless of their origin, who dared to obstruct them would be deemed an enemy of Tang State. However, State Preceptor Li Qingshan strongly objected, advising the King against such a drastic measure, warning that it would align Tang State with the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased and invite a crusade from other nations. Li Zhongyi, however, asserted that Tang State would never abandon its citizens.

Li Qingshan then suggested that the affairs between cultivators should be resolved by the Academy, highlighting Sage's wisdom and Slow Li's formidable power. After careful consideration, Li Zhongyi reluctantly agreed to Li Qingshan's counsel. Privately, Li Zhongyi reflected on Ning Que's long struggle against the "Son of Lord of the Deceased" rumors and his current situation.

He held a silent hope that Ning Que would find his own freedom, imagining Ning Que's voice asserting his loyalty to Sangsang and his worries about implicating the King and Tang State. Ning Que awoke from a terrifying nightmare, only to find Sangsang still unconscious. He fiercely rejected the idea that Sangsang, his childhood companion, could be the malevolent Daughter of Lord of the Deceased.

He vowed to protect her with his life, recalling their shared journey and Sangsang's diligent nature. He declared that Sangsang was simply Sangsang, and anyone who dared to harm her would be his enemy, for their destinies were intertwined. Meanwhile, Luo Kedi brought Mo Shanshan to Peach Mountain and imprisoned her in the hidden boudoir. Luo Kedi advocated for Mo Shanshan's immediate execution to demonstrate West Shrine's resolve against the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased.

However, the High Priest of Oracle cautioned against a hasty judgment, citing Mo Shanshan's status as the Mountain Owner of Mochi Garden in Dahe State and the potential diplomatic fallout. He also emphasized Mo Shanshan's reputation as the "Book-Addict" among the "Three Addicts," a figure admired by many young cultivators, making a discreet execution problematic.

Xiong Chumo, acknowledging these concerns, ordered that Mo Shanshan's public trial be held in three days, intending to force her to confess her guilt before the entire world. Luo Kedi expressed concern about the Academy, particularly Slow Li, potentially intervening, but Xiong Chumo remained unperturbed. Qu Ni arrived at the gates of the Tang State royal palace, brazenly displaying Bao Shu's coffin.

She loudly denounced King Li Zhongyi as a "fatuous ruler of eternal guilt," blaming him for the deaths of Master Qi Shan and Bao Shu, and accusing him of permitting Ning Que's "atrocities." Li Zhongyi, upon hearing the report, mockingly agreed with Qu Ni's insults and suggested she act on her threat to die if she wished. However, Qu Ni continued her tirade, demanding that Li Zhongyi hand over Ning Que and the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased.

Guard Commander Xu Chongshan attempted to intervene, reminding Qu Ni of her status and urging her to leave, but she dismissed him as an insignificant "bug" and renewed her threat to curse the King until his demise. Enraged, Xu Chongshan ordered his archers to fire. Before they could unleash their arrows, State Preceptor Li Qingshan rushed forward, halting the attack. Xu Chongshan, acknowledging Li Qingshan's authority, withdrew. Li Qingshan then attempted to reason with Qu Ni, pointing out the impropriety of her methods and questioning her true intentions in seeking justice for Bao Shu.
