Grandma Zeng advised Hao Pushi's mother about parenting, emphasizing that as children grow older, they need to be given space to live their own lives without parents constantly worrying or intervening. Hao Pushi's mother agreed, acknowledging that it was time to learn to let go. Grandma Zeng then reminded Hao Pushi's mother to have a good talk with her daughter, Hao Pushi. Hao Pushi's mother expressed gratitude for Grandma Zeng's warm heart, apologizing for any past misunderstandings.

Later, Grandma Zeng approached her granddaughter, Zeng Hao, asking if she had reconsidered learning the piano. Zeng Hao still seemed reluctant. Grandma Zeng reflected on her own mistake of making decisions for Zeng Hao without her consent and stated that since Zeng Hao had made her decision, they should act decisively. She then announced that they would move the piano the next day.

This news prompted Zeng Hao to confess that she actually wanted to learn the piano but resented feeling controlled by adults. The family reassured Zeng Hao that she could always share her thoughts with them, and reminded her not to harm her health by holding back her feelings. Yi Shengli returned home overjoyed, announcing that he had found a partner for long-haul trucking. He reminded his family of Brother Zhong, the truck driver who helped them move to Mayang Street.

Hao Pushi, Yi Shengli's wife, initially expressed skepticism, recalling his past unreliable ventures. However, Yi Shengli recounted how he witnessed Brother Zhong bravely assist a restaurant owner in dealing with a dishonest customer, which convinced him of Brother Zhong’s excellent character. He explained that they shared the same vision for long-haul transport, leveraging his newly acquired driver’s license. He excitedly detailed the lucrative potential of transporting goods between Hunan and Guangzhou.

Zeng Hao worried about the lack of funds for a truck, and Hao Pushi again voiced concerns about the venture being unreliable. Hao Pushi then revealed that Yi Shengli still had half of his demobilization savings, which he planned to use for renting a truck. Following this, Hao Pushi's mother announced her decision to return to Hunan.

She explained that her earlier intention to stay in Guangzhou was due to worries about Hao Pushi's ability to settle in, but now that Yi Shengli's work was secure, she felt it was time to go home to help her brother with childcare. Hao Pushi tried to persuade her to stay longer, but her mother insisted that life in Hunan was more comfortable and the food suited her better.

She then made arrangements to ride back to Hunan in Yi Shengli and Brother Zhong's truck. The next morning, Grandma Zeng and Hao Pushi saw Hao Pushi's mother off. Hao Pushi expressed her hesitation at her mother leaving, but her mother insisted the children should sleep in. Hao Pushi then cautioned Yi Shengli to be careful and not get cheated again, to which he reassured her that the truck was rented and they had signed a formal transportation contract.

As Hao Pushi's mother departed with Yi Shengli and Brother Zhong, Grandma Zeng and Hao Pushi bid her farewell, with Hao Pushi's mother promising she would visit Guangzhou again. July arrived, a significant month for the college entrance examination. Zeng Xing received his university acceptance letter, bringing immense joy and pride to his family. Meanwhile, Yi Shengli's truck business was thriving, evidenced by him bringing home a plethora of snacks.

Hao Pushi, however, declared that all family entertainment activities would cease, and everyone would wholeheartedly support Yi Dongdong's university entrance exam, as he was the family's hope. Yi Dongdong and Zeng Hao protested this, but Hao Pushi asserted that without a university degree, life would be meaningless. Yi Dongdong, perhaps spurred on by his mother's intensity, vowed to succeed in his exams.

Sun Falcon, eager to show off his new jeans for an upcoming badminton match, was upset when his mother washed them. His parents reassured him, promising to iron them dry, and encouraged him for his crucial match that could determine his entry into a sports academy. Later, Sun Falcon, wearing his jeans, met up with friends and Yi Dongdong.

Yi Dongdong was heading to school to memorize English, but Sun Falcon playfully snatched his backpack and insisted they go to the movies to relax. At the cinema, to escape being caught, Yi Dongdong pretended to see "Teacher Ma." This terrified Sun Falcon and his friends, who panicked and fled, with Sun Falcon even ripping his new jeans in the process.

Outside, Ma Xiaoxiao encountered them, commenting on Sun Falcon's unique torn pants and the smell of smoke on them, warning them against bad influences. She then casually mentioned that Teacher Ma was actually at school, revealing that Sun Falcon's fear had been for naught. As dinner approached, Ou Xiaojian left, telling Grandma Ou not to wait up for him. He met A FEI at a bar, handing over the money from his recent pager sales.

Impressed, A FEI gave him a new assignment, partnering him with Ma Pi and implicitly testing his loyalty. Ou Xiaojian and Ma Pi proceeded to a drug transaction. Ma Pi, feeling resentful of Ou Xiaojian's involvement, asserted his seniority. While the buyers arrived, Ou Xiaojian, sensing danger, cleverly began to count the money aloud, activating a hidden recording device.

As tensions flared during the exchange, a buyer's accomplice tried to attack Ma Pi, but Ou Xiaojian intervened, pushing Ma Pi out of the way and taking the blow himself, injuring his wrist. The buyers retreated, and Ma Pi, acknowledging Ou Xiaojian's quick thinking, called him "Smart Boy." Back home, Ou Xiaojian, now with a sprained wrist, tried to help Grandma Ou cook. Ma Xiaoxiao arrived and offered to assist, but Ou Xiaojian clumsily spilled food on her clothes.

Ma Xiaoxiao went to change, while Grandma Ou lovingly prepared some beef steamed dumplings, asking Ma Xiaoxiao to take them home for herself and Dada. The next morning, Yi Dongdong saw Ma Xiaoxiao walking to school without her bicycle. Hoping to accompany her, he deliberately left his own bike and followed her, intending to take the bus together.

However, his plans were thwarted when Ou Xiaojian appeared on his motorcycle and escorted Ma Xiaoxiao all the way to school, leaving Yi Dongdong to watch from a distance, silently disappointed. Ou Xiaojian visited the hospitalized Li Zhaohang, disregarding the safety risk. Li Zhaohang admonished Ou Xiaojian for his carelessness and frequent injuries, while Ou Xiaojian retorted by mocking Li Zhaohang's sudden fainting.

Li Zhaohang then shifted to the serious matter at hand, following Ou Xiaojian's confirmation that A FEI had entrusted him with tasks, and revealed that intelligence suggested a large shipment of unidentified goods was expected to arrive in port.

Li Zhaohang instructed Ou Xiaojian to uncover the nature and location of these goods, emphasizing that this was a crucial opportunity to gather evidence for A FEI's arrest, which would finally allow Ou Xiaojian to shed his undercover identity and join the police force in Beijing. He warned Ou Xiaojian to be extremely careful, as A FEI was notoriously cunning and distrustful, even of his long-time subordinates.

As Ou Xiaojian left the hospital, he encountered Zeng Xing, who was there for a medical check-up before going abroad. Zeng Xing expressed his desire for Ma Xiaoxiao to accompany him overseas, believing she deserved a better environment to flourish. He asked Ou Xiaojian to persuade her, but Ou Xiaojian rebuffed him, stating that Ma Xiaoxiao had her own convictions and ideas, and that Zeng Xing did not truly understand her, implying that no one could dictate Ma Xiaoxiao's decisions. Ou Xiaojian was at the hospital to visit Li Zhaohang, concealing his true purpose.
