After a police raid on their operation, Hao Dong, enraged by the escape of his subordinate Erliang, furiously carved wood. Jiang Lei, witnessing Hao Dong's near-breakdown, quickly unplugged the power saw to calm him. Hao Dong immediately suspected Wan Heda, who burst in, accusing Hao Dong of placing drugs in his daughter Wan Mengmeng’s car, potentially implicating her. Hao Dong retaliated, accusing Wan Heda of leaking the accurate drug route to Mengka.

Their heated argument escalated, with Wan Heda stating that Hao Dong had never trusted him in their three years of working together, and that their current predicament with Mengka was entirely Hao Dong's fault, warning that if things continued this way, they would all die. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Wan Mengmeng was undergoing emergency surgery due to severe hemorrhaging and required an abortion, necessitating a parent's signature.

Lan Anran swiftly contacted Zhou Bowen to obtain Wan Heda's contact information, then informed Wan Heda that his daughter was critically ill at Yunhe County First People's Hospital and needed his immediate presence to sign documents. Upon hearing the news, Wan Heda glanced at Hao Dong. Separately, Chen Yu stopped Wu Zhenfeng's vehicle for inspection, meticulously dismantling it.

Wu Zhenfeng angrily challenged Chen Yu, questioning his suspicions about drug trafficking and criticizing his constant interference, stating that Chen Yu was merely using him for revenge. Wu Zhenfeng accused Chen Yu of being impulsive and untrusting, suggesting his actions might lead to Wu Zhenfeng's death. Despite being silenced by the accusations, Chen Yu proceeded to arrest Wu Zhenfeng.

Later, during a police briefing, it was confirmed that the "Big Yellow Capsules" found at Yeren Shan matched those from the Weixiang Restaurant and the drugs from Li Zhengqiang's hijacked warehouse, linking them to Mengka. It was also revealed that a man named Manzi had instructed Wang Yikun's subordinate to deliberately plant drugs in Chen Yu's room to frame him, thereby clearing Chen Yu of any suspicion.

Chen Yu, upon returning to the office, demanded to know why Lin Dezan had not informed him about Wang Yikun's arrest, while Lin Dezan admonished Chen Yu for not answering his calls. Just then, Chen Yu received a call confirming no drugs were found in Wu Zhenfeng's vehicle, prompting Lin Dezan to order Wu Zhenfeng's immediate release. Lin Dezan then reinstated Chen Yu to active duty and assigned him to interrogate Wang Yikun.

Back with the syndicates, Hao Dong, having learned that Wan Mengmeng had awakened and Wang Yikun was in custody, concluded that Wan Mengmeng was now their biggest liability. He suggested that she would break under police interrogation and recommended eliminating her, arguing it would be a mercy given her drug addiction would never be overcome.

Wan Heda, heartbroken, lashed out at Hao Dong, but Hao Dong stood firm, insisting that Wan Mengmeng couldn't withstand police pressure and would expose them all, leading to their collective downfall. Wan Heda wept silently, tormented by the grim proposal. During Wang Yikun's interrogation, Lan Anran confronted him for involving the pregnant Wan Mengmeng in drug transportation.

Wang Yikun appeared genuinely shocked by the news of her pregnancy, denying any knowledge of drugs in her car and vehemently claiming sole responsibility for the trafficking. Lan Anran then delivered the devastating news that Wan Mengmeng had almost died and lost her baby. Wang Yikun, distraught, pleaded to see Wan Mengmeng, but Chen Yu flatly denied his request.

Later, in another interrogation room, Wang Yikun, with Wu Zhenfeng silently observing, tried to bribe Chen Yu, believing him to be Wu Zhenfeng's "protective umbrella" and an insider for Mengka. He offered Chen Yu double the amount Mengka would pay, asserting that Wu Zhenfeng must have used his name. Chen Yu, observing Wu Zhenfeng, pondered his true motivations, suspecting them to go beyond mere self-preservation.

Meanwhile, Wan Heda arrived at the hospital and, after being initially refused entry by the police due to Wan Mengmeng's involvement in drug trafficking, forced his way into her ward. He knelt by her bedside, holding her hand. Moments later, Jiang Lei, disguised as a medical staff member, entered the room, intending to inject a fatal dose of heroin into Wan Mengmeng's IV drip. Wan Heda, noticing Jiang Lei's suspicious actions, gripped his hand, stopping him.

During their struggle, the syringe fell and shattered on the floor. Aware that police reinforcements were closing in, Jiang Lei quickly fled down the stairs. Just as Jiang Lei exited the stairwell, he briefly encountered Liu Kaihua. Liu Kaihua, observing Jiang Lei's fleeing figure, immediately recognized his distinct shoes and later confirmed his identity as the disguised attacker through hospital surveillance footage.

After the failed attempt on Wan Mengmeng's life, Wan Heda confessed to Hao Dong that he couldn't bring himself to kill his own daughter. Hao Dong declared his intention to leave for Hong Kong that night. However, Wan Heda warned him that flying was unsafe due to Wang Yikun's arrest and potential confessions. He proposed that Hao Dong accompany him to Mengka, suggesting it was their only safe retreat.

Hao Dong, feeling betrayed and like a hostage, accused Wan Heda of sacrificing both Wang Yikun and now him. Wan Heda, without further explanation, simply stated he would be crossing the border that night via Walin Town to reach Hong Kong and that Hao Dong could contact him if he wished to join. Jiang Lei then advised Hao Dong that going with Wan Heda was the safer option, given their predicament.

Hao Dong, despite his deep distrust of Wan Heda, reluctantly considered it as his only viable choice. Before departing, Hao Dong entrusted all his remaining funds to Doctor Yu, who had assisted him with drug research. He specified that the money was capital for a new beginning if he returned, or for revenge if he did not survive.

Back at his home, Jiang Lei was confronted by Liu Kaihua, who slapped him and interrogated him about his actions at the hospital. Jiang Lei, though defiant, denied committing murder, insisting he had only been "helping to look."
