> Ashes of Love Recap

After learning about Lian Chao’s past and his undying love for Tu Yao, Jin Mi earnestly pleaded with him for the Light of Xuanqiong to save Xu Feng. She vowed to give anything in return. Lian Chao, who was born colorblind, requested the myriad colors from her eyes. Despite Moon Immortal and Run Yu’s warnings about the consequences for her future as the Floral Immortal, Jin Mi readily agreed.

She explained that after killing Xu Feng and losing her Yun Elixir, she finally understood love, and without Xu Feng, a colorful world held no meaning for her. Seeing her profound devotion, Lian Chao decided not to take her eyesight. Instead, he presented the Light of Xuanqiong, cautioning that no vessel could contain it, and even a powerful immortal could only bear it for three hours.

Jin Mi bravely stepped forward to be its bearer, and from her eyes, she condensed all colors into a transparent light bead, which she offered to Lian Chao. He, contemplating the colorless yet brilliant bead, realized that true splendor lay in simplicity. Lian Chao then entrusted Jin Mi with this precious bead, hoping it would convey their shared past to Tu Yao and accompany her in her final days.

As Jin Mi, Moon Immortal, and the Fox Immortal exited Lian Chao’s courtyard, Snake Mountain began to crumble and disappear. The Fox Immortal explained that Snake Mountain was a manifestation of Lian Chao’s primordial spirit, indicating his impending demise. A flashback revealed Tu Yao had once implored Lian Chao to save the late Heavenly Emperor Tai Wei, even threatening to die alongside Xu Feng if he refused.

Lian Chao then confirmed that saving Tai Wei had depleted most of his primordial spirit, and now, having offered the Light of Xuanqiong, he could no longer sustain himself. He declared his life’s wish fulfilled and felt no lingering attachments. The Fox Immortal was distraught and attempted to return the Light of Xuanqiong, but Moon Immortal stopped him, stating it was Lian Chao’s chosen path. With Snake Mountain gone, their magic was no longer suppressed, allowing them to fly.

However, Jin Mi, weakened by the lingering snake venom, found herself unable to use her magic. She urged the Fox Immortal to quickly take the Light of Xuanqiong to save Xu Feng. Just then, Run Yu appeared and brought Jin Mi back to the Heaven Realm. Run Yu, overseeing the injection of the Light of Xuanqiong into the elixir furnace, expressed hope that Xu Feng’s revival would also bring back the carefree Jin Mi he once knew.

He then cautiously told Jin Mi that Xu Feng might not appreciate her sacrifices. Jin Mi, however, asserted that she didn’t seek his gratitude, as this was something she owed him. Run Yu then subtly questioned their own engagement, but their conversation was cut short by Immortal Tai Si, who brought news from the Wangchuan River frontline. Jin Mi excused herself. On Linyuan Tower, Jin Mi delivered the light bead to Tu Yao.

She explained that Lian Chao had self-destructed his primordial spirit to acquire this "most brilliant object" for Tu Yao. Tu Yao recalled a past promise where she had flippantly asked Lian Chao for the world’s most brilliant thing in exchange for her Phoenix Hairpin, knowing his colorblindness would make it impossible. He had nevertheless vowed to fulfill her wish. Jin Mi questioned if Tu Yao regretted her past choices regarding Lian Chao.

Tu Yao, holding the transparent bead, reflected on their beautiful memories that she longed to forget but couldn't. She finally understood that "the most colorful thing is the purest and most transparent lover’s heart." With this, Lian Chao’s promise to her was finally fulfilled, and in a voiceover, he declared he had no more regrets in life.

Tu Yao, overwhelmed by this revelation and contrasting it with her own lifelong pursuit of supreme power, acknowledged that all her life’s choices had been wrong. In a moment of despair, she leaped from Linyuan Tower to her death. Later, a guard reported Tu Yao’s suicide to Run Yu, adding that Jin Mi had also fainted due to severe injuries.

Meanwhile, Immortal Tai Si reported to Run Yu that King of Gu City was rapidly consolidating power in the Demon Realm and gathering forces to attack the Heaven Realm, exploiting Run Yu’s recent ascension. When asked who would lead the demon army, Immortal Tai Si revealed it was Liu Ying. Run Yu remarked on Liu Ying’s drastic measures for Xu Feng.

Immortal Tai Si advised Run Yu to personally lead the Heavenly army, as was tradition for a Heavenly Emperor, to boost morale and solidify his authority. Run Yu, while acknowledging the wisdom of this, dismissed both Immortal Tai Si and Kuang Lu to contemplate his next move, clearly concerned about Jin Mi.

Supreme Lord Lao examined the unconscious Jin Mi, confirming that the Light of Xuanqiong had melted her true body, and even Run Yu’s magic could only sustain her for a short while. Determined to save Jin Mi, Run Yu consulted the Classics of Dream, discovering a forbidden technique called Blood Ball, which could "change fate against God’s will." As he began the ritual, cutting seven of his meridians, Kuang Lu rushed in, alarmed.

She implored him to stop, warning that harming himself would weaken the Heaven Realm against the impending demon invasion. Run Yu, however, declared that saving Jin Mi was paramount and couldn't wait. He completed the ritual, using the Blood Ball to heal Jin Mi. Afterward, a weakened Run Yu informed Kuang Lu that he would still appear on the battlefield once the war began, upholding his responsibility as Heavenly Emperor.

He strictly ordered Kuang Lu to keep his use of the forbidden Blood Ball a secret from Jin Mi and everyone else, fearing both public censure for Jin Mi and instability in the Six Realms. Kuang Lu pledged her silence. In the Demon Realm, Mu Ci tried to dissuade Liu Ying from fighting for King of Gu City.

Liu Ying asserted she was fighting for Xu Feng, for the Demon Realm, and to avenge her grievances, as she couldn't tolerate her father’s (King of Bian City's) submission to the Heaven Realm after Xu Feng's tragic death. She stated her commitment to the war was irreversible, but assured Mu Ci she wouldn't force him to join. Mu Ci reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty, promising to stand by her through thick and thin.

Jin Mi awoke and questioned her remarkably swift recovery. Kuang Lu, adhering to Run Yu’s command, lied, claiming that Run Yu had merely transferred some of his magic power to her and was currently occupied with state affairs. Kuang Lu then tearfully implored Jin Mi to show some affection to Run Yu, even if feigned, to alleviate his constant sorrow.

Jin Mi gently explained that pretending to love him would cause him more pain, drawing a parallel to Kuang Lu’s own unrequited feelings for Run Yu. Jin Mi promised to keep Kuang Lu’s secret. Still puzzled by her rapid healing, Jin Mi later encountered Supreme Lord Lao, who expressed his astonishment at her recovery from a near-fatal state, as he possessed no elixir for her specific injury.

He then recounted the ancient forbidden technique of Blood Ball from the Classics of Dream: it required the practitioner to cut seven meridians, inject half their essence into blood drops to form the Blood Ball, and feed it to the injured, at the cost of half their immortal lifespan. Distraught, Jin Mi rushed to Run Yu’s chambers and immediately noticed the fresh wounds on his hands. Run Yu initially denied using the forbidden art, claiming he only transferred magic power.

When Jin Mi threatened to summon Immortal Qi Huang to verify, Run Yu relented, admitting the truth and expressing his fear that if she died, he would go insane. Jin Mi confronted him about the Classics of Dream, suspecting he knew about the Dream Changing Magic and Blood Ball all along, implying he had deliberately caused her to misunderstand Xu Feng.

Run Yu explained that the Blood Ball technique was merely something his mother had recorded in her belongings from Dongting Lake, and he hadn't known it was a forbidden art. He acted out of desperation to save her life. Jin Mi was overwhelmed, feeling she could never repay him for sacrificing half his immortal life. Run Yu, however, said he asked for no repayment.

He told her that simply having her by his side was enough; he, who once possessed the entire night sky but felt lonely, now felt content with her presence. He wished only for her to return to her carefree and joyful self. Jin Mi, weeping, confessed her enduring love for Xu Feng, stating she missed him so much that it caused her physical pain. She begged Run Yu to stop hurting himself for her.

Run Yu then asked if, should he ever face a similar fate as Xu Feng, she would risk her life to save him. Jin Mi replied without hesitation, "Of course. Because, that’s what I owe you."
