Jin Mi, having discovered that Xu Feng was the Phoenix, had previously attempted various schemes to obtain his magic pills, but all were met with his refusal. Finally, she adopted Moon Immortal's "weakness tactic," which proved effective, leading Xu Feng to agree to teach her some magic and appoint her as his attendant at Xichen Hall.
As the Dragon Boat Festival approached, Jin Mi received a letter from a fairy from the Nine Luminaries Palace, intended for her rather than Xu Feng. Jin Mi found the letter deeply moving, especially since no one had ever written such a touching one to her before. Soon after, Yue Bei, the sender, appeared at Qi Wu Palace, shyly kissing Jin Mi's cheek before running off.
Later, Jin Mi embarked on a mission to accumulate more magical prowess by collecting Dragon Boat Festival dumplings, which were rumored to contain varying amounts of magic. She enthusiastically ate twenty dumplings, only to discover each held a mere year of magical prowess, leaving her feeling indignant at the injustice.
After falling asleep from anger and being overly full, Jin Mi woke to learn from her attendant that the coveted "Dumpling King" with 500 years of prowess was still unaccounted for, and that Xu Feng had taken one to Xichen Hall without eating it. Determined, Jin Mi made her way to Xichen Hall. Upon her arrival, Xu Feng instructed Jin Mi to use the illusion spell he taught her to warm his dumpling.
Hoping to get the dumpling for herself, Jin Mi disparaged it, describing its wrapper as smelly, its rice as too soft, and warning that its size could cause choking if eaten late at night. However, her negative description piqued Xu Feng's interest, making him more eager to try it. Seizing the opportunity, Jin Mi quickly offered to make him a more appealing flower cake in exchange for the dumpling. Xu Feng agreed, allowing her to claim the prize.
She eagerly consumed the dumpling, confirming it was indeed the magnificent "Dumpling King" with 500 years of magical prowess, which instantly energized her. Recognizing that Xu Feng did not particularly care for flower cakes, Jin Mi decided to express her gratitude by transforming a dead tree in his courtyard into a vibrant poinciana tree, also known as a Phoenix Flower, symbolizing his identity as the Phoenix.
Xu Feng, though outwardly dismissive of the gift, calling it useless compared to food, secretly admired it, pondering its name, "Phoenix Flower." Jin Mi, misinterpreting his lack of enthusiasm as general unromanticism, questioned what truly pleased him, jokingly concluding that he enjoyed punishing others. The following day, Ji Du, a star immortal from the Nine Luminaries Palace, arrived at Qi Wu Palace to propose marriage.
Initially, he mistakenly proposed to Xu Feng, before his attendant clarified that the proposal was for Jin Mi. Ji Du explained that Yue Bei had "disrespected" Jin Mi by kissing her, and as a matter of honor, they were offering a betrothal, urging Jin Mi to marry Yue Bei immediately. Jin Mi, however, downplayed the incident as merely a friendly kiss, but Xu Feng refused the proposal on her behalf.
To everyone's astonishment, Xu Feng then removed a Spirit-Locking Hairpin from Jin Mi's head, revealing her true form as a beautiful woman with cascading hair. Realizing their mistake, Ji Du hastily apologized to Jin Mi and departed with his attendants. Word of Jin Mi's true identity quickly reached Moon Immortal, who, delighted by the revelation, presented her with an array of exquisite clothes.
Despite Jin Mi's initial reluctance and opinion that the purple gown was not beautiful, Moon Immortal insisted, finally persuading her to wear a red gown. As Jin Mi emerged, Moon Immortal was struck by her resemblance to the late Floral Immortal Zi Fen, feeling a profound sense of familiarity. Xu Feng was also taken aback by Jin Mi's transformed appearance. When Sui He, visiting Xu Feng, saw Jin Mi dressed so attractively, she criticized her for "attracting attention."
Jin Mi, however, missed the critical undertone and innocently agreed, even comparing herself to an ugly crimson-bellied tragopan, a relative of Sui He's Peacock tribe. Later, after Sui He angrily departed, Xu Feng explained Sui He's displeasure, cautioning Jin Mi against such thoughtless remarks. He then suggested Jin Mi wear her hairpin again.
Jin Mi, misinterpreting his advice, believed he was upset that her handsome appearance as a "male" had outshone him, and promised to be more discreet in the future. Meanwhile, other male attendants in the palace, like Fei Xu, were already smitten, suffering nosebleeds from her captivating appearance. Xu Feng then invited Jin Mi to attend an opera at the House of Marriage.
Jin Mi promptly declined, stating that she preferred he didn't go to places where numerous female immortals would gather, fearing she wouldn't secure a good seat to watch the show. Xu Feng, misinterpreting her words, secretly rejoiced, believing her reluctance stemmed from jealousy and a nascent affection for him. Jin Mi, on the other hand, was simply calculating how to make him happier so he would share some of his magic prowess with her.
To further impress her, Xu Feng led Jin Mi to a room filled with trophies—parts of fierce beasts he had single-handedly subdued and killed, such as the tooth of Tao Wu, the rib of Gu Diao, and the head and tail of Hun Dun and one of Jiu Ying's heads. He offered to gift her any she desired, depending on her "performance." Jin Mi, however, merely offered polite admiration while secretly feeling intimidated.
She perceived his display as a warning, wondering what she had done to incur the wrath of such a narrow-minded "bird." Back at Moon Immortal's residence, he lamented his recent weight loss, attributing it to the dwindling and scrawny chicken supply from the Bird Tribe, which had been cut off by the Floral Realm.
The scarcity was due to the Floral Realm's Chief Peony issuing the Luoying order, ceasing food supplies to the Bird Tribe until they returned a "flower elf" they were accused of abducting. While he spoke, Mr. Hu abruptly entered, explaining that Chief Peony had banished him from the Floral Realm for his failure to protect Jin Mi and ordered him to retrieve her or face severe punishment.
Jin Mi, revealing her identity, was quickly recognized by Mr. Hu, who immediately attempted to take her back to the Floral Realm. Moon Immortal, however, grew suspicious, questioning why Chief Peony was so protective of Jin Mi, especially since she had no known children. He speculated that Chief Peony might be "saving Jin Mi for some boy" and vehemently refused to let Mr. Hu take her, sensing a deeper conspiracy.
Jin Mi, torn between loyalty and fear of Chief Peony's punishment, also considered delaying her return, especially as Moon Immortal suggested waiting for Xu Feng to return from training to properly bid him farewell. But Mr. Hu insisted on immediate departure, citing the escalating conflict between the Floral and Bird Realms. As Jin Mi, Moon Immortal, and Mr. Hu argued at the Southern Heavenly Gate, the fierce beast Qiong Qi suddenly appeared.
Recognizing the beast that had previously harmed her friend Rou Rou, Jin Mi immediately charged forward, determined to avenge her. Before she could be gravely injured, Run Yu swiftly arrived to protect her. Moments later, Xu Feng also appeared, unleashing an arrow towards Qiong Qi.
