The Beast of Dreams' emitted dream vividly depicted Water Immortal's final moments: a figure resembling Xu Feng appeared, accusing Water Immortal of standing between him and Jin Mi before attacking with the Glazed Pure Fire. Wind Immortal, Lin Xiu, perished while trying to save him. Jin Mi wept, heartbroken by the tragic end of her father and Wind Immortal. Determined to uncover the truth, she went to Pixiang Hall, searching for the Beast of Dreams' whereabouts in the Dream Register.
Her fears were confirmed when she discovered the dream was, indeed, Xu Feng's. Meanwhile, Run Yu was teaching Li about constellations, pointing out how the Heart and Three Stars mansions represent a scorpion and a hunter, destined to be enemies or forever separated. Yan You, concerned about the Heaven Realm's corrupting influence on Li's innocent nature, tried to take the young carp fairy back to the mire.
However, when Run Yu and Kuang Lu appeared, Kuang Lu suggested Li choose his own path. Li decided to stay with Run Yu at Xuanji Palace, leaving Yan You to depart, lamenting Li's youthful snobbery. Run Yu attempted to mend their estranged relationship, emphasizing their brotherhood and assuring Yan You the palace doors were always open. Yet, Yan You politely declined, stating he was not capable enough to be Run Yu's brother and preferred his freedom.
Alone with Li, Run Yu promised to care for him as their mother had wished, reiterating that they now only had each other. Later, Run Yu confided in Kuang Lu, questioning why his quest for revenge was condemned and alienated him from loved ones, while others like Heavenly Empress and Xu Feng could act with impunity. Kuang Lu reminded him that the pure are easily stained and that he had embarked on a path of no return.
During a court assembly, Heavenly Emperor lauded Run Yu's significant contributions to pacifying the Bird Family and orchestrating famine relief, asserting that he was as capable as Fire Immortal, if not more meticulous. Elder Yin Que from the Bird Family presented the eight hundred li Taihu Lake to the Heaven Realm as a token of loyalty. Heavenly Emperor decided to grant it to Run Yu as a fiefdom.
Run Yu, accepting the honor, proposed that the lake, historically belonging to the Arowana Family, should not be private property. Instead, he requested to settle the displaced Dongting Water Family, who suffered after the dethroned empress's actions and Water Immortal's death, into Taihu Lake. Heavenly Emperor approved, granting Run Yu full authority to oversee the takeover, reconstruction of Dongting Lake, and resettlement of the Water Family.
Run Yu took Li to Taihu Lake, telling him it was their mother's homeland and entrusting him with its protection. Li, though initially worried about his limited magic power, promised to guard it after Run Yu mentioned a large mire at the bottom of the lake. Yan You confronted Run Yu, accusing him of pretense and questioning if his impeccably flawless life wasn't exhausting.
Yan You remarked on Run Yu's now immense power and the recovery of Taihu Lake, suggesting that his mother, Su Li, could rest in peace, yet implying Run Yu had deviated from his initial purpose. With their differing moral convictions, Yan You decided to leave, stating he preferred to live freely, and bid Run Yu farewell.
Run Yu then initiated a campaign to win favor in the Floral Realm, sending generous gifts to the residents, including a Thunder Drum for Old Hu and a kaleidoscope for Lian Qiao, thereby earning their widespread praise for his thoughtful and effortless problem-solving. He visited Jin Mi, who was observing mourning for her father, assuring her that he was managing Water Immortal's affairs and would guide her in due course, promising to stay by her side always.
Jin Mi, still engulfed in grief, questioned if Heavenly Emperor would conduct an impartial investigation into her father's murder, particularly if the culprit was a high-ranking immortal. Run Yu subtly hinted that Heavenly Emperor was deliberately suppressing reports from the Law Enforcement Hall, suggesting that the true murderer was someone Heavenly Emperor was unwilling to impeach. Jin Mi despaired, unable to comprehend why her peace-loving father had met such a violent end.
Run Yu suggested that their engagement, which had dramatically bolstered his influence in the Heaven Realm, might have been perceived by others as an attempt to usurp the throne, thus making them targets. He vowed to Jin Mi that he would not allow Water Immortal to have died in vain. Meanwhile, in the Demon Realm, Liu Ying and Mu Ci were together, with Liu Ying playfully asserting ownership over Mu Ci's life, insisting he recuperate.
They encountered arrogant guards of Bian City. Liu Ying chastised their leader, who then revealed that King of Bian City was hosting a banquet to reconcile Demon Lord and King of Gu City. Suspecting foul play, Liu Ying decided they should stay at a nearby inn to avoid the gathering, despite Mu Ci suggesting she attend to help her father. Mu Ci expressed remorse for his past misdeeds, wanting to prove himself worthy of her.
Liu Ying, reassuring him, proposed they ask her father to officiate their wedding after the banquet concluded. At the banquet, King of Gu City and King of Bian City exchanged veiled insults regarding Liu Ying and Xu Feng's closeness. Demon Lord intervened, urging them to put aside their grievances and share a toast. After drinking, Demon Lord suddenly coughed blood and died. A subsequent medical examination confirmed he had been poisoned.
King of Gu City immediately imprisoned King of Bian City, the host, along with his entire household, citing undeniable evidence, and declared an imminent execution. The same guard Liu Ying had encountered earlier rushed to her at the inn, urging her to break into the demon prison to save her father. However, Liu Ying grew suspicious, questioning how he, a close confidant, had escaped imprisonment or capture.
She quickly realized he was a traitor working with King of Gu City to lure her into a trap that would solidify her father's guilt. Exposed, the guard ordered his soldiers to seize Liu Ying. Mu Ci, with his potent magic, swiftly defended her, giving Liu Ying the precious opportunity to escape and seek help while he single-handedly held off the attacking guards. Distraught, Xu Feng confronted Tu Yao about Water Immortal and Wind Immortal's deaths.
Her failure to deny involvement confirmed his suspicion of her guilt. Xu Feng realized that her actions stemmed from her misguided desire to protect him. This realization plunged him into a profound moral crisis, leaving him agonizing over how he could possibly protect his mother while also seeking justice for Jin Mi, and how he could live with his own conscience.
Liu Ying arrived at the Heaven Realm, desperately pleading with Heavenly Emperor to intervene and save her innocent father, who was unjustly framed and facing execution. She presented evidence of her father's general's betrayal and King of Gu City's manipulative plot, emphasizing her father's good reputation and his efforts to maintain peace between the realms.
Heavenly Emperor, however, refused to intervene, citing a lack of concrete evidence of a frame-up and his inability to interfere in the Demon Realm's internal affairs. Run Yu, subtly asserting his influence, acknowledged the chaos in the Demon Realm and suggested the Heaven Realm could legitimately intervene, while also gently advising the exhausted Liu Ying to rest. Deeply disappointed and angered by Heavenly Emperor's indifference, Liu Ying stormed out, declaring she would rely on herself.
After her departure, Run Yu urged Heavenly Emperor to reconsider, warning that inaction would shatter the delicate balance of power in the Demon Realm, where King of Gu City's ambition, unchecked by King of Bian City, would lead to widespread conflict. He advocated for a thorough investigation. Although Run Yu volunteered for the task, Moon Immortal suggested Xu Feng was better suited due to his extensive knowledge of the Demon Realm.
Heavenly Emperor agreed, noting that Xu Feng had completed his month of confinement. Meanwhile, at the Demon Realm prison, King of Gu City mercilessly taunted King of Bian City, confirming his impending execution for Demon Lord's poisoning and maliciously promising to send Liu Ying to join him in the underworld. Just as the execution was about to commence, Liu Ying dramatically burst in, defiantly challenging King of Gu City. He, pleased by her arrival, immediately ordered her arrest.
However, Mu Ci arrived, his powerful magic effortlessly repelling King of Gu City's forces, protecting Liu Ying and her father. King of Gu City, recognizing Mu Ci as a survivor of the Spirit-Vanishing Family, vowed to eradicate them all.
