> Ashes of Love Recap

After realizing that Xu Feng, the "burnt crow," was actually a powerful Phoenix, Jin Mi decided to acquire his magic power to help revive her friend Rou Rou. She had recently lost 300 years of magic power but quickly recovered it, making her eager to gain more. Seeking advice from Yue Xia Xian Ren, Jin Mi first attempted flattery by offering Xu Feng flower biscuits, but he dismissed them as "too sweet."

Next, she tried to leverage her life-saving deed, demanding her 300 years of lost magic power back. However, Xu Feng remained unmoved. Following Yue Xia Xian Ren's final advice to "act weak," Jin Mi stopped asking for magic power directly. Instead, she presented herself as simply wanting to guard him with an umbrella, recalling his inability to swim and vowing to silently protect him from water.

Seeing her persistence, Xu Feng finally agreed to teach her cultivation tricks and offered her a position as his page boy in Qiwu Palace, which Jin Mi readily accepted. To prevent further meddling, Xu Feng warned his uncle, Yue Xia Xian Ren, not to interfere with Jin Mi, as she was now under his protection.

He then gave the matchmaker 500 years of magic power to settle Jin Mi’s debt and ensure she would no longer bother him, a protective gesture that secretly pleased Yue Xia Xian Ren. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure who had previously harmed Xu Feng and Run Yu sought an alliance with the Floral Realm. Chief Peony steadfastly refused, citing the late Floral Immortal's decree that the Floral Realm should remain neutral.

The figure insinuated that the Floral Realm harbored deep-seated hatred and should join forces, claiming that "the enemy of my enemy is my ally." However, Chief Peony remained firm, declaring the Floral Realm would neither seek revenge through others nor be used as anyone's weapon. Behind the scenes, Chief Peony harbored deep anxieties, fearing that Jin Mi's departure from Water Mirror might mark the beginning of her prophesied "love trial" involving Xu Feng.

Despite other floral fairies attempting to reassure her by mentioning the protective Yun Elixir and their search efforts, her heart remained heavy. Separately, Floral Fairy Magnolia secretly met with the mysterious figure. Driven by a desire for revenge for the late Floral Immortal, she pledged to pay any price. The figure, in turn, requested Jin Mi's true identity and parentage as a test of trust. Jin Mi began her duties as Xu Feng's page boy in Xichen Hall.

Xu Feng tasked her with memorizing the Brahma Spell, but she only managed to correctly recite 5 out of 49 lines. Frustrated, Xu Feng assigned her more chants to learn, explaining that her low magic power stemmed from a weak foundation and that cultivation required starting with theory, not shortcuts. He then instructed her to grind ink, reminding her of a page boy's proper duties. Xu Feng's teaching methods were rigorous.

During a test of her transformation spell, she not only failed but also lost her balance and fell into his arms, a moment embarrassingly witnessed by Yue Xia Xian Ren. As punishment for her poor progress, Xu Feng would transform Jin Mi into a pair of chopsticks, leaving her unable to eat, or a cabbage to be nibbled by a rabbit.

After seven days of such torment, during which Xu Feng even misled a visiting Run Yu into believing Jin Mi was on holiday to ensure a quiet chat, Jin Mi sought refuge with Yue Xia Xian Ren, vowing to live in the House of Marriage temporarily.

Yue Xia Xian Ren informed Jin Mi about an upcoming conscription where generals would be selected based on their knowledge of war strategies, a process complicated by the various regional dialects spoken by the earth immortals. Having an unusual knack for languages due to her love for food from different regions, Jin Mi volunteered to assist Xu Feng as an interpreter. During the conscription, Xu Feng struggled to understand the diverse dialects.

Jin Mi stepped in, translating the profound military strategies of a candidate named Pojun. Impressed by Pojun's wisdom and Jin Mi's unexpected linguistic skills, Xu Feng appointed Pojun as a Star Guardian with 20,000 soldiers. He praised Jin Mi, who claimed she acquired her knowledge from books in Water Mirror. As a reward, Xu Feng revealed that Qiwu Palace would host a Mortal Realm's Dragon Boat Festival, where rice dumplings would contain varying amounts of magic power.

Jin Mi eagerly offered to wrap the dumplings, but Xu Feng, fearing she would cheat, refused. Xu Feng's cousin, Sui He, visited him, bringing snacks. She subtly bribed Jin Mi with a magic pill worth 100 years of magic power. Sui He then confided in Jin Mi, explaining her long-standing affection for the distant Xu Feng and asked for help understanding his feelings.

Jin Mi, aware of Xu Feng's unexpected popularity despite his fierce demeanor, promised to consult Yue Xia Xian Ren. At the House of Marriage, Jin Mi was mistaken for a high immortal by a star official named Yuebo, whom she happily gifted a red string. When she asked for advice for her "friend," Yue Xia Xian Ren misinterpreted it as Jin Mi's own crush on Xu Feng and gave her a rare set of illustrated books on romance.

Earlier, Sui He had met with her aunt, the Heavenly Empress, who praised Sui He's growing maturity in managing the bird tribe and advised her to spend more time with Xu Feng, the heir apparent, using Jin Mi as an intermediary. During Sui He's visit, Xu Feng, busy discussing demon realm defense and the ongoing investigation into the assailant who injured Run Yu, showed little warmth towards her.

He even pointedly asked Jin Mi, not Sui He, to pour his tea, prompting Sui He to leave. Separately, Run Yu encountered Yue Xia Xian Ren, playfully wrapping a red string around his uncle's foot. Run Yu discouraged the matchmaker, explaining he already had a long-standing marriage contract to the eldest daughter of the Water God, Luo Lin, and the Wind God, a match decreed by the Heavenly Emperor.

Yue Xia Xian Ren lamented that the intended parents had been separated for centuries, making the birth of the daughter seem impossible. Run Yu, however, expressed no desire for marriage, wishing only for a free and happy life. Yue Xia Xian Ren noticed a red string on Run Yu's wrist, which Run Yu claimed to keep as a souvenir to encourage him to visit his uncle.

Inquiring about a new fairy servant, Run Yu was pleased to learn that Xu Feng's new page boy, Jin Mi, was a lively individual. Meanwhile, a Heavenly Soldier named Kuang Lu reported for duty at Xuanji Palace to serve Run Yu. Wary that she might be a spy from the Heavenly Empress, he attempted to deter her by describing the mundane tasks, night shifts, his supposed bad temper, and penchant for dangerous forbidden spells. Yet, Kuang Lu remained resolute, declaring her sole desire was to follow him and even expressed a wish to learn the spells, praising his widely known gentle disposition.
