King Yi, Xu Feng, feigned a grave illness and summoned Jin Mi, the Saint Girl of the Saint Doctors’ Family, for a consultation in the presence of Minister Fu and Duke Nanping. After the officials were dismissed, they discussed how they both witnessed King Yi coughing up blood, suspecting he harbored a deeper, serious illness beyond a mere cold.

Duke Nanping then instructed his attendant to arrange for Sui He to visit King Yi the next day to discreetly investigate the true nature of his condition. He also ordered the news of King Yi's illness and absence from court to be spread secretly to incite panic, but to keep Sui He unaware until her visit to ensure her judgment remained clear. Meanwhile, Liu Ying followed Qi Yuan's scent to a bamboo forest.

Desperate to make him reveal himself, she dramatically leaped from a cliff. As expected, Qi Yuan, appearing as a wisp of smoke, swooped down to save her. Liu Ying confronted him, demanding to know why he wouldn't admit he was Mu Ci, why he saved her but refused to meet her, and why he took back the brass strip he had given her.

She declared that if he truly wanted to sever ties, she would return her life to him, making them "even." After he saved her, still masked, Liu Ying insisted she knew it was him and that her gamble paid off. Qi Yuan warned her that his pursuers would return and she needed to be careful. Liu Ying pressed him about what happened after the Nether Fury appeared in the Wangchuan River.

A flashback revealed that the Demon Realm had discovered Mu Ci was a descendant of the Spirit-Vanishing Family, a clan the Demon Lord believed had been eradicated. They imprisoned and tortured him, fearing the revival of the rebellious family. Mu Ci, while imprisoned, showed concern for Liu Ying's injuries. Despite his pleas, the Demon Lord ordered him sealed and thrown into the Yu Abyss.

Back in the present, Qi Yuan told Liu Ying that "Mu Ci no longer exists in this world" and that their definitions of "being alive" differed. Liu Ying, though acknowledging his suffering, pleaded with him to return to the Demon Realm to live as they once did, unaware of his deep-seated hatred for the Demon Realm. Qi Yuan, heartbroken, left her. Later, Sui He visited King Yi's palace.

Xu Feng gracefully performed a sword dance, prompting Sui He to demonstrate her extensive knowledge of military strategy and tactics, which impressed him. Just then, Jin Mi and Qiang Huo arrived with medicine. Sui He, curious about their veiled faces, insisted Jin Mi remove hers, questioning the family's strict rules and suggesting it posed a security risk to the king. Before the situation escalated, Xu Feng suddenly collapsed in a coughing fit.

Sui He, alarmed, watched as Jin Mi took his pulse. Jin Mi dramatically diagnosed Xu Feng with "kidney yang and blood failure" and declared him "impotent," adding that he suffered from "five taxations and seven damages" and was "incurably ill," nearing death. Qiang Huo gently urged Sui He to return, assuring her they would inform her if King Yi regained consciousness. After Sui He departed, Xu Feng immediately sat up, asking Jin Mi how well he performed.

The entire charade was a calculated act for Duke Nanping and Sui He. Xu Feng jokingly chided Jin Mi for spreading rumors of his impotence, claiming she had ruined his reputation and would be responsible if he ended up "alone and childless." Jin Mi reminded him that this was his own plan.

Xu Feng then shifted, admitting that only the "secret behind her veil" truly stirred his emotions, expressing his intense curiosity about her appearance, a sentiment he claimed Sui He shared. Jin Mi, citing Confucian wisdom and modesty, refused, claiming her face was "ugly and disliked." Xu Feng dismissed her words, reminding her of their intimate month in Luoye Mountain where she had been "bold" with him. He playfully accused her of taking liberties and now wanting to "disown him."

Flustered, Jin Mi apologized profusely, reaffirming her loyalty to him. Xu Feng clarified he didn't want mere loyalty but her willingness to remove her veil. Jin Mi steadfastly refused, citing her duties as Saint Girl bound by royal command and family rules, declaring that the "mountain time" was merely a dream and not their reality. Xu Feng's attendant, observing the interaction, later lamented Xu Feng's near loss of control.

He advised Xu Feng to adopt a more aggressive "city seizure tough warfare" approach in matters of love, but Xu Feng realized he couldn't issue commands while supposedly unconscious and decided to wait until his "kidney was cured." Observing the scene from the Celestial Realm, the Moon Immortal chided the Matchmaker Immortal for arranging a fate of "loneliness" for Jin Mi.

The Matchmaker Immortal retorted that Xu Feng himself was to blame, having followed Jin Mi to the mortal realm after preventing her from experiencing "separation of lovers" in the first place, thus "digging his own grave." Back in her chambers, Sui He was distraught over King Yi's condition. Duke Nanping feigned comfort while subtly extracting details about Xu Feng's health. Upon hearing Jin Mi's grim diagnosis, Duke Nanping promised to cancel their engagement.

However, Sui He fiercely resisted, revealing a hidden closet filled with meticulously prepared wedding gowns and mourning clothes. She explained that since she was twelve, after seeing Xu Feng return wounded from battle, she had known this dual fate awaited her and had been preparing for it every year.

Duke Nanping, shocked by her profound devotion, called her foolish, reiterating that Xu Feng's warlike nature meant he would not live long and vowed not to marry her to such a "tyrant." Sui He expressed her disappointment in her father's harsh judgment of Xu Feng and declared her unwavering love, willing to endure widowhood or childlessness for him, stating that only his death could forcibly separate them. Duke Nanping then summoned Jin Mi.

After praising her for the information he'd gleaned from Sui He, he questioned her on King Yi's remaining lifespan. Jin Mi, attempting to buy time, claimed King Yi had "one year at most" left to live and asked Duke Nanping to keep this information from Sui He. Duke Nanping dismissed Sui He's feelings and ordered Jin Mi to reduce King Yi's lifespan to a mere ten days.

He revealed his revised plan to depose Xu Feng at the upcoming Meeting of Commanding Officers in ten days, where many officials would be present, and demanded that King Yi die from poison "on the spot that day." Jin Mi reluctantly agreed.

Returning to her room, a distressed Jin Mi confided in Qiang Huo, explaining that Duke Nanping was holding their entire Saint Doctors' Family, over a hundred lives, hostage, with killers already dispatched to their village awaiting the signal from the capital. Qiang Huo was horrified, recognizing the potential widespread suffering if King Yi, who had brought peace and prosperity wherever he went, were to die.

Jin Mi agreed, believing Xu Feng was capable of creating a peaceful world without war or famine. Overwhelmed, they decided to write to their aunt for advice on this grave matter.
