Yuwen Muyuan fell to the ground, riddled with arrows after shielding Chong Xuezhi. Chong Xuezhi cried out for him, urging him not to speak and promising to take him back for treatment. She then furiously attacked the black-clothed warriors, who, fearing she would use the Nine Moves of Lotus God, fled in dismay. Muyuan, however, replied that it was too late.

He expressed how happy he was that Xuezhi had come to save him, stating that protecting her had been his duty and he had no regrets. He confessed that he had only ever loved her, and despite knowing he couldn't have her, he never regretted it. He acknowledged he couldn't accompany her in this life but hoped to protect her as her guardian star in the next.

Muyuan then asked her to accept the pair of earrings he had meant as her dowry, hoping she would wear them on her wedding day. He reiterated that he couldn't return to Hall of Flames and declared, "My life has gone to the end. Leader, take care of yourself. Your Chief Guardian, Yuwen Muyuan, will step down." With these final words, Yuwen Muyuan passed away. Zhu Sha and Che Qu soon arrived with other disciples, all distraught by Muyuan's death.

Chong Xuezhi, consumed by grief, immediately intended to seek revenge against Lord Lu, but Shangguan Tou intervened, urging her to calm down and consider their options. He reminded her that Xue Lie had anticipated everything. Che Qu, embracing Muyuan's body, solemnly vowed to fulfill Muyuan's unfinished tasks, protecting Chong Xuezhi, Zhu Sha, and the disciples of Hall of Flames. Meanwhile, Lord Lu, upon hearing of Muyuan's demise, was overjoyed, declaring that everyone would see the consequences of opposing him.

He dismissed Shangguan Tou and Chong Xuezhi as insignificant, believing they would be forgotten while he would be remembered as the first to unite the martial arts world. After burying Yuwen Muyuan near Hall of Flames, Chong Xuezhi remained unsettled. She dreamed of Muyuan bidding her farewell, causing her to wake up screaming, covered in cold sweat.

Shangguan Tou comforted her, emphasizing that Muyuan's greatest wish was for her to live well, and that was the best way to honor him. As Chong Xuezhi and Shangguan Tou returned to Moon Valley, Lin Fengzi, unaware of the recent tragedy, happily greeted them, inquiring about Xia Qingmei. Chong Xuezhi gently advised her to take care of herself and her unborn child, revealing Fengzi's pregnancy, but evaded answering about Xia Qingmei's fate.

Lin Fengzi then mentioned that Xia Qingmei was still missing, and her father, Lin Zongxing, agreed they would wait for him to return. Lin Zongxing then arrived to take Fengzi home to Sword Manor, also seizing the opportunity to discuss strategies against Xue Lie. Chong Xuezhi proposed uniting martial artists and engaging in a direct battle. Shangguan Tou, however, suggested a more strategic approach, noting Xue Lie's deep-seated obsession and advising them to wait and observe his moves.

During her visit to the market, Lin Fengzi was unexpectedly kidnapped by Lord Lu's men. Lord Lu openly told her that Xia Qingmei was no longer useful to him and he didn't care whether he was alive or dead, but Fengzi, however, was useful. He threatened that if Lin Zongxing followed his orders, Fengzi would be unharmed.

Lord Lu's subordinate confirmed that Fengzi was unaware of Xia Qingmei's death and explained that Lin Zongxing's love for his daughter and his reputation would ensure his compliance. Lord Lu then forged a letter in Hongxiu's handwriting, sending it to Shangguan Tou and Chong Xuezhi at Yongxing Inn, knowing they would rush to Sword Manor. A subordinate reported that Shangguan Tou and Chong Xuezhi had taken the bait and were heading to Sword Manor.

Lord Lu was confident they would fall into his trap, having planted Black Fire along their path on Yangsong Mountain to ensure their complete annihilation. Around the same time, the Crown Prince's men recovered some Black Fire from a public road, and the prince recognized its terrifying power, realizing he needed to rein in Lord Lu. At Sword Manor, Lin Zongxing reluctantly gathered various sect leaders as instructed by Lord Lu.

Lord Lu soon arrived, reiterating his proposal for a Sects Alliance. Priest Xingyi of Shangqing Sect vehemently rejected it, prompting Lord Lu to insult him and other traditionalists as "old fogeys" who hindered progress. Abbess Ciren of Emei Sect openly accused Lin Zongxing of colluding with Lord Lu again, calling him shameless for deceiving them.

Lord Lu countered by recalling Ciren's past efforts to use imperial power to benefit Emei Sect, and then arrogantly admitted his intention to control the martial arts world. He declared that those who opposed him, like Sand Sect, Kunlun Sect, Hanjiang Sect, and Purple Hawk Sect, had all been annihilated, explicitly stating he ordered Xia Qingmei to carry out the massacres.

Abbot Shiyan's appeals to the Buddha were met with Lord Lu's cynical dismissal, who mocked the sects' greed and infighting, especially during the scramble for Nine Moves of Lotus God. He then announced that the Sects Alliance would be formed that day, regardless of their consent.

When other sect leaders questioned his claim, Lord Lu falsely asserted that he had ordered Yuwen Muyuan, whom he ironically called the "Leader of Hall of Flames," to execute Xia Qingmei as a warning, adding that his word alone made it so. Suddenly, the sect leaders felt their bodies weaken, realizing there was a sedative in their tea. Abbess Ciren furiously condemned Lin Zongxing for his treachery.

Lord Lu revealed that Lin Zongxing was coerced because Lin Fengzi was his captive, and he had even taken care of her pregnancy. Lord Lu, gloating, declared his intent to wipe out the entire martial arts world, stating that anything he couldn't control, he would destroy.

He boasted that he had already blown up Shangguan Tou and Chong Xuezhi with Black Fire, their bodies annihilated, urging everyone not to expect help and to cherish their last moments, as Black Fire surrounded the entire manor. Lin Zongxing, helpless and despairing, lamented that his good name was now sullied as a sinner of the martial arts world. Just as Lord Lu ordered the Black Fire ignited, Shangguan Tou and Chong Xuezhi dramatically appeared, stopping the ignition.

Shangguan Tou explained that they had seen through Lord Lu's deception when he sent the fake letter supposedly from Hongxiu. He pointed out that after his fall from the cliff, he had used the name Yu Chuzhi, a fact Hongxiu was aware of. Therefore, if the letter were truly from her, it would have been addressed to "Mr. Yu," not "Master Shangguan," and she would have warned them away from Sword Manor, not encouraged them to come.

Chong Xuezhi further revealed their counter-plan: after Lord Lu left his mansion, Che Qu and Zhu Sha had secretly entered and rescued Lin Fengzi. She even thanked Lord Lu for unintentionally taking good care of Fengzi and her unborn child during her captivity. Enraged, Lord Lu snarled that he regretted not killing Fengzi.

Chong Xuezhi then listed his crimes: spreading disease, sealing Hall of Flames, framing the Imperial Advisor, forcing Xia Qingmei into madness, and orchestrating the destruction of four major sects, now culminating in an attempt to massacre the martial arts community. Lord Lu, still trying to deflect blame, claimed Xia Qingmei was the killer and that his own actions in having Yuwen Muyuan kill Xia Qingmei were for the greater good of the martial arts world. Chong Xuezhi retorted, "Isn’t it enough that you killed Muyuan? Must you also destroy his reputation?"
