Suddenly, Wen Kexing saw one of the coffin lids shaking violently. Before Zhou Zishu could react, Hanging Ghost—one of the Ten Devils—jumped out and claimed to have drugged them with a hallucinogen. He rang a bell, summoning people from the other coffins. Each coffin released a drugged puppet with copper skin and iron arms. They surrounded Zhou Zishu and launched a deadly attack.

Knowing the puppets were full of poison, Zhou Zishu was powerless but refused to die without a fight. Thankfully, Wen Kexing arrived in time and killed all the puppets. Zhou Zishu managed to snatch a soul-binding thread box from Hanging Ghost. Wounded by the puppets, Zhou Zishu first gave Wen Kexing an antidote, then cut open his own wound and sucked out the poison. Wen Kexing noticed a wound on Zhou Zishu’s shoulder and other internal injuries.

He quickly helped suck the poison from Zhou Zishu’s shoulder. Zhou Zishu tried to hide his injuries, but Wen Kexing saw through his disguise and questioned his use of a disguise technique, suspecting he was hiding from enemies. He promised to help Zhou Zishu with all his strength and urged him to be honest with him. Zhou Zishu refused, unwilling to let anyone see his true self. Wen Kexing tested Zhou Zishu’s martial arts. They exchanged moves, neither yielding.

Zhou Zishu lost a round due to his internal injuries and fell into the water. When he didn’t surface, Wen Kexing jumped in to save him. Zhou Zishu’s mask was torn off, revealing his true face. After climbing ashore and drying by the fire, Wen Kexing stared at Zhou Zishu’s handsome face, confirming his suspicions. Having fought each other, the two finally opened up.

Zhou Zishu immediately saw that the Hanging Ghost with the soul-binding threads was a fake and scolded Wen Kexing for killing the impostor. Wen Kexing dodged the topic, and Zhou Zishu didn’t press further. He asked Wen Kexing to find food in the forest. Despite Wen Kexing’s warning, Zhou Zishu cautiously opened the box and found a piece of Glazed Armor inside. Changing Ghost was ordered to handle the corpses of Ao Laizi and others at Sanbai Manor.

He sent Long-tongue Ghost with the box to trade for the Glazed Armor with the Scorpion King. After completing the task, Changing Ghost rushed to find Scorpion King, only to learn that someone had broken into the soul-binding thread formation, killed Long-tongue Ghost and all the puppets, and stolen the Glazed Armor. He blamed the Scorpion King. Wen Kexing hunted two wild rabbits, and Zhou Zishu gave him the piece of Glazed Armor from the box.

Wen Kexing guessed it belonged to Zhao Jing and suspected that something was off with Shen Shen and Ao Laizi. Zhou Zishu saw through the scheme—Ghost Valley had hung the corpses at Sanbai Manor to provoke a conflict between the Five Lakes Alliance and Mount Tai Sect. Early the next morning, Zhao Jing and Shen Shen came to ask Zhang Chengling about Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing, but he knew nothing.

Shen Shen, furious, scolded Zhang Chengling and reminded him not to forget the sacrifice of the 300 people from Mirror Lake Manor. Zhao Jing tried hard to comfort Zhang Chengling and explain Shen Shen’s anger. Zhao Jing wanted to go to Yueyang with Shen Shen for the Heroes Conference, hoping to use the Five Lakes Alliance to destroy Ghost Valley. He invited Yu Qiufeng to join them and casually asked about Yu Tianjie.

Yu Qiufeng thought he had gone to see his favorite disciple He Ruitai. Zhao Jing advised them to stay alert, but Shen Shen complained that Zhao Jing was too timid. Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing returned to the Zhao family mortuary, finding everything had returned to normal, completely different from the night before. In the forest, they discovered the two corpses were gone.

Wen Kexing asked about the hallucinogen, which Zhou Zishu revealed was called "Drunken Life, Dreamlike Death"—a formula he had invented. He even explained the ingredients in detail. After Zhao Jing and Shen Shen left with Zhang Chengling, Prince Jin sent Window of Heaven leader Han Ying to Sanbai Manor. Wen Kexing saw this and urged Zhou Zishu to go to the Heroes Conference in Yueyang. He would meet him there after reporting to Gu Xiang.

Zhou Zishu followed Shen Shen and Zhao Jing, noticing how slowly they traveled and growing increasingly anxious. Wen Kexing spent a fortune to commission thirty identical replicas of the Glazed Armor from a shop. Then he went to bid farewell to Gu Xiang, asking her to give a hundred taels of silver to Yun Zai and Hong Lu to send them home. They refused to leave and vowed to follow Wen Kexing in life and death.

Gu Xiang also spoke in their favor, saying both were orphans rescued by Wen Kexing. He agreed to let them stay and serve Gu Xiang. Finally, he handed over thirty Glazed Armor pieces and assigned Gu Xiang two tasks.
