Word of Honor Episode 10 Recap
> Word of Honor Recap
Wen Ke Xing, filled with remorse, began to bury the Four Sages of Anji, but the ground was frozen solid. He struggled to dig a grave with his sword, breaking the blade in the process. Zhou Zi Shu arrived and, seeing the tragic state of the Sages, chastised Wen Ke Xing for causing such bloodshed.
Wen Ke Xing, already regretful and now facing Zhou Zi Shu's accusations, retorted by exposing Zhou Zi Shu's past as the Leader of the Window of Heaven, reminding him that he too had taken innocent lives. Zhou Zi Shu was left speechless. Zhou Zi Shu later sat alone in the pavilion where the Four Sages once played music and recited poetry, his heart heavy with emotion. Han Ying observed him from a distance.
That night, Wen Ke Xing sought solace in a brothel, surrounded by courtesans. He distributed fake Glazed Armors and promised gold beads to those who would drink with him. Though the women happily indulged, Wen Ke Xing remained cheerless, lamenting the potential loss of Zhou Zi Shu as his soulmate. Meanwhile, Zhou Zi Shu was at a tavern, drowning his sorrows in drink until he passed out.
He reflected that he had once believed Wen Ke Xing to be his soulmate, but now realized it was his own wishful thinking, admitting his mistake in judging others. In the Chongwu Palace, Shen Shen reported to Gao Chong that Feng Xiaofeng, the killer of the Four Sages, had escaped, but promised to capture him after the Heroes Conference.
Zhao Jing, who had gone to Renyi Hall for the Sages' funeral arrangements, discovered a half-dug grave, leading him to suspect the Beggar Gang or Huang He. Shen Shen recalled following Ao Lai Zi and finding the area littered with joss paper, confirming the Ghost Valley's involvement in Ao Lai Zi's death. Zhao Jing accused Shen Shen of attempting to seize the Glazed Armor from Ao Lai Zi, leading to a heated argument.
Shen Shen insisted the Armor rightfully belonged to the Five Lakes Alliance, while Zhao Jing argued for respecting the deceased Lu Tai Chong's wishes. Gao Chong intervened, stating that Ao Lai Zi's inability to protect the Glazed Armor was his own downfall, but Zhao Jing maintained that forcing someone to give up their belongings was wrong.
Yu Qiu Feng, increasingly anxious about the escalating violence in the martial arts world and with no news of Yu Tian Jie, instructed his disciples to avoid conflicts. Despite this, disciples from the Mount Tai Sect arrived, informing him that Ao Lai Zi's death might have been orchestrated by the Five Lakes Alliance. Yu Qiu Feng, not wanting to get involved, ordered his disciples to tell them he was unavailable, sick, or even dead, refusing to meet them.
Zhou Zi Shu remained despondent after the deaths of the Four Sages. Han Ying, concerned about Zhou Zi Shu's internal injuries from the Nails of Seven Torments, suggested seeking a divine healer. However, Zhou Zi Shu knew his time was short and his injuries irreversible. He advised Han Ying to remain hidden within the Window of Heaven and prioritize his own safety. Zhou Zi Shu then handed Han Ying a genuine piece of Glazed Armor.
Han Ying, realizing the two pieces he had submitted earlier were fakes, wished to retrieve them, but Zhou Zi Shu forbade him from getting further entangled in the Glazed Armor dispute. Zhou Zi Shu emphasized that he was a dying man and no longer needed such an ominous object, urging Han Ying that his loyalty would best be shown by staying alive.
Elsewhere, Tao Hong Po, Lv Liu Weng, and Huang He discussed the widespread fake Glazed Armors, expressing their frustration at being manipulated. They were further enraged by the rumor that Gao Chong planned to marry his daughter, Gao Xiaolian, to Zhang Cheng Ling. They accused Gao Chong of being ruthless, willing to use his own daughter as a pawn to consolidate power over the martial arts world. Gu Xiang continued to look out for Zhang Cheng Ling.
Upon seeing him bruised and beaten by his senior disciples, she was ready to retaliate. Zhang Cheng Ling, however, stopped her, explaining that he was effectively under house arrest at the Yueyang Sect and didn't want to cause more trouble. Soon after, Gao Xiaolian brought him homemade osmanthus cakes.
Zhang Cheng Ling, aware of Gao Chong's intention to betroth him to her, respectfully declined her gifts and her friendship, stating that he was unworthy and would not be a puppet in their schemes. He knew accepting the marriage would lead to accusations of opportunism. Gao Xiaolian, hurt by his rejection, left in tears. Gu Xiang called Zhang Cheng Ling foolish, but he was resolute, expressing his eagerness to reunite with Zhou Zi Shu and Wen Ke Xing.
Gu Xiang reported to Wen Ke Xing about Gao Chong's plans. She mentioned that Gao Xiaolian was originally destined for Deng Kuan, the last survivor of the "Funeral Game," who had mysteriously fallen ill upon returning to the Yueyang Sect, despite only suffering minor injuries previously. Gu Xiang also noted that Zhang Cheng Ling was being held under strict guard. Expressing pity for Zhang Cheng Ling, she asked Wen Ke Xing if they could help him escape.
Wen Ke Xing sternly reminded her of her identity as the Heartless Amethyst Fiend, a ghost among humans, and warned her not to interfere or pity humans. He suspected Gao Chong had ulterior motives for keeping Zhang Cheng Ling so closely guarded and instructed Gu Xiang to monitor Gao Chong closely. Wen Ke Xing then declared his intention to continue his "madness" and further destabilize the martial arts world.
Gao Xiaolian, having been repeatedly rebuffed by Zhang Cheng Ling, felt deeply hurt. She prepared a cooling lotus seed soup for her father, Gao Chong, who told her to take it to Zhang Cheng Ling. She tearfully pleaded with her father to annul the engagement, expressing her confusion and hurt over both his and Zhang Cheng Ling's actions. Gao Chong, though initially angered by her forwardness, softened and promised to speak with Zhang Cheng Ling about it later.
Gu Xiang met Cao Weining for dinner at Qing Yu Tower, where she requested the song "Happy Meeting." Cao Weining, misinterpreting her choice of song, seemed delighted, believing it to be a romantic gesture. Wen Ke Xing, as the Chief of Ghost Valley, summoned the Ten Devils and other subordinate ghosts. He expressed his dissatisfaction that after three months of being released from the valley, they had failed to locate the Hanging Ghost and retrieve the stolen Glazed Armor.
Instead, they had caused chaos: organizing "Funeral Games," annihilating the Danyang and Mirror Lake Sects, killing the Mount Tai Sect leader, and publicly displaying corpses to provoke the Five Lakes Alliance, thereby destroying two decades of peace. Despite this, he sarcastically praised their destructive efficiency, stating that as evil spirits, wreaking havoc was their true purpose. He then brutally executed White Grim Reaper for his perceived disloyalty and incompetence, terrifying the other ghosts. Wen Ke Xing then instructed them to devise a cunning plan to thoroughly humiliate Gao Chong and the other leaders of the Five Lakes Alliance at the upcoming Heroes Conference.
